Present for 6yr old DD

headinthecloudsnow · 08/10/2021 10:06

Ideas please?

Her 3yr old sister is so easy to buy for as she's unicorn/mermaid mad. But DD6 is slightly more tomboyish. She loves puzzle/maze games, worst witch, Amelia fang books etc. She asked for a skateboard for her birthday in July.

Help!

Dd who will be 6 by Christmas is getting some roller skates. She often has a go on her siblings skateboard but doesn’t want one but loves to dance and I think she will enjoy them. The big Lego dots set as she loves her other ones.

PinkSyCo · 08/10/2021 10:12

YABU.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 08/10/2021 10:36

DD(6) has asked for a skateboard and rollerskates (she will be getting one of these).

I've also got her:
-the Harry Potter invisibility cloak from Aldi (has an app which green-screens out the cloak making you invisible in photos).
-This book which reveals hidden mythical creatures with a UV torch and looks brilliant book

  • some graphic novels of the Hilda cartoon - she hasn't read anything in this format before, so not sure whether she'll like them, but she loves the cartoon.
  • a mug with cake measurements on it for microwave cake
-stop watch (for the insanely competitive obstacle courses she turns the sitting room into) plus standard (for us) jigsaw, book and chocolate orange.

Lego? Always the go-to present for 4-8 year olds in this house.

Fallagain · 08/10/2021 12:07

@RubaiyatOfAnyone I have a a 5 year older who loves mythical creatures. I’ve added that book to her list. Thank you!

TheFairPrincess · 08/10/2021 12:30

Thank you, my just 6 DD will also love that mythical creatures book!!

I have also been looking at some lego dot things.

Other ideas I have for a main present are some Our Generation big accessories for her dolls/teddies, some kind of fur real friend, or some surprise style toys with stuff to open like LOL, Rainbowcorns etc.

Stompythedinosaur · 08/10/2021 13:10

The author of Amelia Fang has a new book out called Rainbow Grey which my dd really liked.

Lego is popular here, lego friends (particularly the animal rescue sets) is most popular, but the Harry potter and the raya and the last dragon sets have gone down well too.

Tie dye set was a popular gift last christmas.

usernotfound0000 · 08/10/2021 14:03

My 6 year old is getting lots of lego and has asked for a pogo stick!

BlueChampagne · 08/10/2021 14:32

Swingball?
YY to Hilda!

Runaway1 · 08/10/2021 15:45

I've got mine
-a spy decoder set from Melissa and Doug
-a Knex set
-Lego submarine kit
-Playmobil school bus.

She has asked for a pogo stick, but I might ask an auntie or grandparents to get this for her.

Runaway1 · 08/10/2021 15:46

Would she like a remote control car? Ours is popular on playdates and they build ramps and courses for it.

“Help!” sounds pretty panicky to me. I would suggest that, if you are really that flummoxed about what to buy your own child for Christmas, that you ask her what she would like when it is nearly Christmas. 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posted a thread about Christmas, on the Christmas Board.

Did you spot this in Active Threads?

Mrsfussypants1 · 08/10/2021 19:10

Isn't this the Christmas board or am I lost? Nothing wrong with getting ideas from other people with children the same age, it's lovely to get some recommendations, of things that might be something you've never thought of and has been a hit. Our almost 6yr old would ask for a pile of tat that would get played with for 5 minutes and abandoned and not have real play value. She does write a list nearer the time but is limited to a handful of items that she MAY get. And yes, Christmas is a few months away yet, nothing wrong with spreading the cost, being organised and this years stock/delivery/price increases issues that are a coming. I personally do not want to be shopping in December, it's such a lovely month, I have better things to do with my time.

headinthecloudsnow · 08/10/2021 19:13

Thanks everyone for your helpful comments.

@PinkSyCo yes indeed this was posted in the Christmas section. I'm not sure why you're sniping at me tbh Confused whatever has happened today to make you so negative I hope your day improves and you have a lovely evening.
