Niche request: microphones for smart ‘phones. I want to “interview” my dad as a kind of make your own audio autobiography. Does anyone have any knowledge about them? Prices seem to range from £12-£300. Or would I be better buying a sort of dictaphone.

I've done the candy bag thing and it does work but they seemed to be much more expensive this year. Can anyone recommend some?

I use ‘special’ tissue paper instead. I bought a big wedge of it with a holly leaf pattern on it years ago fairly cheaply. I just rip it into suitable sizes and add the odd bit of tape to keep things wrapped. It’s very quick to wrap everything for the stocking. Only problem is keeping it hidden from year to year so they don’t realise the special Father Christmas tissue paper lives in our house.

My B & M had a whole Christmas aisle with plenty of initial bags. I thought they didn’t have the two I wanted but they were at the back of the last stack I checked. I also picked up some candy canes, long dated and only £1 a pack.
M & S also had everything except the halloween tins which are apparently on a ship in the middle of the sea somewhere! Saying that I snaffled the last few FFS Colin hot chocolate stirrers so apologies to anyone who went in after me.

I'm just back from TK MAXX and they have this works candles for £12.99 - same ones are currently selling for £25 in John Lewis.

I put in my first order with Shein a few weeks back for 13 yo DC. Came to around £80 but managed to get it down to around 50 with codes. Apart from one top, everything was great. The one top was ridiculously small (womens 10 but probably would fit an 8 year old) but as it was only £2.99 it's just gone in the donations bag rather than bother with returning. We got a pile of tops, couple pairs of shorts, little things like a pop-it, headband, dog bandana, socks. Think there was around 15 items all in. Delivery took just over a week IIRC, nowhere near as long as I'd imagined.
