Can never have too many fairylights IMO. Not the flashing ones cos they send you loopy after a while

GrapefruitMoon · 04/12/2007 14:09

Cod with fake Christmas tree shock & horror! (Know what you mean about the cost though, but still can't bring myself to buy a fake one - would get one that really looked fake, say in white, rather than pretending to be real if it came to it...)

Ooh I saw a nice one like that at a garden centre recently - it looked really real and was a bit tempted - think it was ££ though so no savings to be made....

I always am tempted by fake trees during Christmas itself when the needles start dropping...

Our tree is a 9 foot real one every year and we only ever have white and silver and clear cystal ornaments....a winter wonderland!!

Last years was ridiculous...it was so big the dd's kep saying Narnia was behind it...

I do love the smell of them though

Cod, at least you won;t be picking pine needles out of your plum tights

ggirlsbells · 04/12/2007 14:59

I want to nick all the blue and green decorations that M&S are doing their shops in.

Our tree is the same every yr,am bored of it now.

NappiesLaGloriainexcelsis · 04/12/2007 14:59

mines like that this year dropdead. but i dont like it! its a lovely tree, and looks really nice an all... just way too poncy - am i love my inner ponce

Swedes2Turnips1 · 04/12/2007 15:01

We have the same tree decorations every year - a lot of them made out of red crepe paper and cotton wool by chubby, impatient little hands. The decorations are a riotous mis-match but I insist on white lights only - I just don't like the coloured ones so much.

Dropdeadfred · 04/12/2007 15:02

[preens her poncey inner self]

sweetkitty · 04/12/2007 15:03

my tree is green and all the deccies on it are white and the lights are white too therefore I am naff, we do have a dancing Santa though that DD1 chose last year and loves it

NappiesLaGloriainexcelsis · 04/12/2007 15:05

no no SK, the tree is poncyb the dancing santa is naff. get it right girl

PirateInaPeartree · 04/12/2007 15:09

cod i got a fakeone this yr from tesco, the 'whistler' (lmao) tree. First one ever. £25, but it looks nice. not up yet tho.

will put on mainly silver stuff, and fake icicle colours, wiht bits of colour. and whatever she chooses. sameold box of stufff here.

sweetkitty · 04/12/2007 15:12

sorry nappies

looks bloody lovely though poncey or not, I am expecting some DD1 nursery creations to make their way onto it soon.

NappiesLaGloriainexcelsis · 04/12/2007 15:43

thats what it needs, my pure silver poncy number; some nursery creations. bits of gold spraypainted pasta glued onto little snowman shapes. that sort of thing

IsawKIMIkissingSantaClaus · 04/12/2007 15:46

I do. DH1 does not.

Have one tree red to go with the red sofas and rug, one burnt gold to go with the walls and sofas, and one that DH1 did in our den that is blue and looks lovely but goes with nothing.

3andnomore · 04/12/2007 15:55

we don't "colour coordinate" our tree with it's surroundings....we have very oldfashioned decorations, a lot of them handed down from my mum to us, so, from my own childhood....all wooden stuff, figurines, red wooden apples and hearts and lots of straw stars, some still homemade....
we also put gingerbread on our tree, adds a lovely aroma and looks nice, too!

i have all traditional gold, not struck on really trendy trees expcept maybe in a trendy house! Saying that, our living room has got a few bits of teal accessories, cushions rug etc and last yr i did put i few bits of that colour on the tree and i did look nice. Will do the same this yr. We have silver lamps and stuff and i alwways think maybe i should have silver tree but i dont feel its traditional enough
