DD, 11, wants an Oodie for Christmas. Tell me, wise ones with sassy 11 year olds, does this have to be an oodie or would a knock off do?

Mine got the real ones last year and have lived in them ever since. They absolutely love them. But yeah, don't leave it too late to order - ours took ages, I think they arrived around Dec 18th after being ordered in October. And communication from the customer service team was non existent.

Billandben444 · 12/09/2021 07:43

My DGD has a really small bedroom in quite a small house - would I be unpopular if I bought her one, are they very bulky? Are they like a scrumpled up single duvet?! TIA.

northender · 12/09/2021 08:33

Oodies we're giving a very long delivery time last year so we ended up getting one from kuddly which was a similar price. Dd is 16 and has used it soooo much it has been good value already & has washed really well

They are very bulky. Would be too much on the back of a door in a small room. And heavy so would need a good hook. Or better a v large drawer!

Knock offs in dunelm for £16 and they are gorgeous tbh

GoldStarAngel · 12/09/2021 14:41

The one I ordered last week with the discount came two days later

Dd and I got one each last winter and wore them loads. I have just ordered my DIL to be one from Kud.ly for Christmas, pale blue with koalas on. ( They don’t have a lot of choice of designs) It was £49 and having reading an independent article on the top 5 Oodie’s it was ranked as No1 with the actual Oodie’s No2.
I will report back when it arrives - shipping only 2-3 days as opposed to the 10 weeks I waited last year.

Sisisimone · 12/09/2021 18:35

There's 8% cashback on Quidco for anyone getting an Oodie

I think I might have read the same article @Nearlyadoctor so I’m awaiting your feedback with interest. Was eyeing up the Amazon versions but lots of the reviews said they weren’t as long. I’m looking for something to wear while working from home so I don’t have to have the heating on the whole time so the length is key for me. If the Kuddly ends up longer and IS cheaper that might be what I go for.
drspouse · 17/09/2021 21:33

Can anyone tell me if they are too long for a fairly short 9 year old? He's 140cm.

PepperPepperMan · 17/09/2021 21:36

They are fan, lovely packaging with a keep safe bag, wash really well.

Worth the money imo.

My DC loved their Oodies so much last Christmas. We all did and pretty much wore them non stop the whole winter. They're so big, soft and snuggled with massive pockets you can put everything in

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 17/09/2021 22:09

I bought a real oldie. It said one size for adults and kids but it was ridiculously enormous on a 10 year old. In fact it felt too big on my and I’m not slim.
I’ve sent it back and am now looking for a kids one.
So following with interest.

ChallBot · 17/09/2021 22:10

The Comfy looks the same as the Oodie but it had sold out completely last year. It's just plain colours though no patterns. It might be a bit shorter than the Oodie though.

drspouse · 17/09/2021 22:37

There's a Junior Comfy which looks better for DS.

After reading this thread, I bought two oodies for my teens as a Christmas surprise. They came within a few days BUT a very large oodie label on the front of the package and the full itemised list of contents including price, colour etc on the back of the package! My daughter opened the door to delivery, so surprise ruined

I emailed oodie suggesting they either not do this or at least alert people so they can make arrangements for the delivery - they replied and couldn’t have cared less - they explained very condescendingly that oodies are so lovely that having them will totally make up for having no surprise - message peppered with heart emojis etc.

I’m considering returning them - not because of the surprise being ruined but because they couldn’t care less and I found their response so incredibly condescending - I’d like to spend my money with a better company that cares about its customers

EccentricaGalumbits · 18/09/2021 11:50

@SisterJude

But it doesn't cover your legs, am I missing something? How is it warm and cosy if it doesn't completely cover your body?
Much warmer than a onesie.

I'm 5'11 and my Oodie comes past my knees. It's so warm I don't need anything on my legs on all but the most freezing days when a pair of leggings under will do the job. If curled up on the sofa the Oodie is big enough to tuck my knees into so I'm completely covered.

OhThatChicken · 23/09/2021 05:03

@Nearlyadoctor Have your Kuddlys (Kuddlies?!) arrived yet? What’s the verdict? Even less inclined to go Oodie having read about @Ssmiler’S experiences (although appreciate I’m a grumpy emoji hating misery!) but am keen to get something like this - especially with heating bills likely to go mad this winter.

Nearlyadoctor · 23/09/2021 08:53

@OhThatChicken - sorry I never got back to you, yes it arrived within 72hrs. Packaging did not display what was inside. Comes in it’s own protective bag, fabric and colours look lovely but as it’s vacuum packed I haven’t taken it out the inner bag as based on the Oodies would struggle to get it back in again when it breathes so to speak. Hopefully DIL will be pleased - definitely looks good .

OhThatChicken · 23/09/2021 20:38

That's it. I might need to order one. Or maybe I'll do the two deal and get one for my mum for Christmas too.

It's payday tomorrow... :D :D :D

Thank you so much for replying!

StoatMilk · 28/09/2021 23:28

I'm thinking of buying a family Oodie bundle for Christmas presents. Would an Oodie fit someone who is a womens size 26-28 will it still have a bit of an oversize effect?

Has anyone bought the 6 pack bundle do they ever go lower than £252, and are they really worth it.

Much appreciated.

Tinysnickers · 29/09/2021 08:04

Has anyone tried the primark or dunelm fake oodies? Or can compare the two? I am thinking of one for myself this winter so that when I'm alone at home and kids are at school I don't have to run the heating (we were with avro on a cheap fix and now they've gone bust our bill will double Sad). I figure one cheap oodie is probably a month of heating bill but I definitely cannot justify the price of a real one or a kudly.

RunningKatie · 29/09/2021 09:26

What are the sizings like on the Dunelm kids ones?
My dc are 9 & 10 so I think adult ones will drown them but they would love the reindeer ones (and wear them all year!)
