I got something that I had always wanted for Christmas last year - A MAGIMIX icecream maker www.magimix.com . I see you rolling your eyes....but it is great. I hate buying store bought ice cream for my kids because it's full of snake oil which makes it last long. Ice cream maker is really easy to use, not very fiddly, kids love to see it working, and it makes lovely yummy icecream of all different types with no rubbish in it.

I ordered from Cox and Cox two weeks ago and haven't received anything, so I emailed to ask WTF is my STUFF? and they said it will be despatched in about 2 weeks! So they have a turnaround of 4 weeks, which seems v. poor to me.

(Having said that, Oliviamumsnet got her order within a few days, so it's a bit random I think)

lullabyloo · 22/11/2007 14:09

oh no....my stuff always comes within a few days mp...when I needed something fast, they sent it by courier at no extra charge.

morningpaper · 22/11/2007 15:13

Yes I am annoyed - have spent a FORTUNE because I have bought loads of stuff from them for xmas present - and was annoyed that there was no free postage because I spent A LOT. Have sent a request asking for it to be sent in seperate parcels if this would get some of here quicker, because I need to post out parcels abroad! Grrr!

meemar · 22/11/2007 16:18

Been looking at this Baa Baby site - not bought anything but really lovely looking things for babies and children. The stuff looks so cute!

StrawberryTea · 22/11/2007 16:28

Does anyone know a nice site for aprons? I want something handmade not too girly and not too boring!

lullabyloo · 22/11/2007 16:28

mp...I rang them directly & they were really sweet & helpful.Always best to speak to them directly I think, rather than email.

morningpaper · 22/11/2007 20:26

They have sent nice email back saying that they are just overwhelmed with orders and there is a massive backlog. They've said they will send it out in bits and pieces so I can get some of it in the next few days with a bit of luck!

boo64 · 25/11/2007 21:58

Anyone know any good sites for gifts for me apart from the ones already mentioned? I'm looking for stylish stuff not the same old gadgets and cliches which so aren't dh's thing.

Paul Smith is the kind of thing I'm looking for but the range on their site is quite small.

cremolafoam · 26/11/2007 23:18

for boo64
underu
brown bag
stephen einhorn
stone island
fortnum and mason

boo64 · 27/11/2007 18:56

Thanks - will take a look

Excuse the plug as I did a bit of work on this new boardgame About Time, but it seemed appropriate to mention as would make a fab Christmas gift for games/history/general knowledge buffs/students/etc

Basically it's a classy new trivia game with an onus on history, launching in ten Borders stores, and some independent shops, this month. I think it's excellent and it's been rated higher than scrabble, triv and pictionary on a professional games website
www.boardgamegeek.com/game/32337 I think the suggested age range starts at 14.

The makers have said they will give Mumsnetters free p&p which is about a £7 saving... Check it out at www.timegame.co.uk - there's an online game there too.

To get free p&p go to timegame.co.uk/discountcode type in discount code ess1 (all lower case.) (only valid this side of Christmas)

OK plug over, happy Xmas shopping
