This has maybe already been asked but what does everyone do for breakfast on Christmas morning? We're going to my mums for christmas dinner but not until mid afternoon so want to do a nice christmassy breakfast for DH and DD (2) so kid friendly ideas would be appreciated.

DH will do himself a fry up, but I'll have raspberries and yogurt, followed by pain au chocolat (baked from frozen) . If DD was here we'd have blueberry pancakes with honey and yogurt.

AlwaysLatte · 18/12/2020 16:52

Scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, home made bread and proper Buck's Fizz, sometimes pigs in blankets on Boxing Day morning if there are any left (I definitely don't make lots of extras! Wink)

HollyBollyBooBoo · 18/12/2020 21:10

Nigellas Christmas morning muffins. Made them today to freeze so nice and easy on Xmas day.

Iwantacookie · 18/12/2020 21:14

Selection boxes Grin

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 18/12/2020 21:15

We usually have bacon barms but this thread has made me want pastries now!

mrscatmad31 · 18/12/2020 21:18

Pork pie on toast

Bravobravobravo · 18/12/2020 21:25

@Tearsfortiers I would love to have monkey bread! Could you share your recipe please?

CuppaZa · 18/12/2020 21:30

Cinnamon buns

Tearsfortiers · 18/12/2020 22:53

@Bravobravobravo I've tried several recipes but this one is my favourite. It's great to make with the DC. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/monkey-bread

Merrz · 18/12/2020 22:56

@redpinkgreenblue this sounds good, where do you buy your fruit platter?

OP posts:
DelphineWalsh · 19/12/2020 01:01

Black pudding, hash browns and poached egg. Baileys coffee and some chocolate from the selection box.

Holothane · 19/12/2020 05:27

Smoked salmon with cream cheese.

Hellotheresweet · 19/12/2020 05:29

I’m doing salmon bagels and huge fruit salad.

Hellotheresweet · 19/12/2020 05:30

I limit sugar for breakfast and so then happy for them to have sweetie bits in stockings, otherwise it just gets too much.

naturalyoghurtmuncher · 19/12/2020 08:36

Bowl of cereal or toast, same as usual

JingleJohnsJulie · 19/12/2020 08:55

We have Nigellas Christmas Muffins. The DC seem to have adopted it as a tradition.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/12/2020 09:49

I was thinking "Fruit ? What a waste of belly space" but actually now I want fresh pineapple Xmas Grin

I wouldn't buy the big platters but I could buy a pineapple tub and some watermelon cubes (for DD)

We have pancakes and syrup. DC are adults .
DH usually scrambled ehhs and toast
Coffee , orange juice

sassafras123 · 19/12/2020 22:42

Sausage rolls coffee and something alcoholic mid morning like a port and lemon.

Ltdannygreen · 19/12/2020 23:43

Bacon sandwiches as they are quick and easy when your cooking for 8 ( all from the same household)

didireallysaythat · 20/12/2020 00:31

DS1 has grudgingly said he'd eat something other than toast but it needs to be savoury. We'll probably have an Xmas lunch later in the day so it doesn't need to be a lot - what's small and savoury (but doesn't involve eggs)?

Ellapaella · 20/12/2020 15:39

Croissants and/or sausage, egg and bacon all washed down with bucks fizz and tea 😋

beebbeep · 20/12/2020 16:17

Bacon and egg sandwiches and a cup of tea every year since I was a child

GladWeAreOutOfThere · 20/12/2020 16:22

Another one having cinnamon buns.

weshallneversurrender · 20/12/2020 18:03

I'll have a brie and bacon bagel, DP will have Salmon and cream cheese rolls or bagels (depending on what he hasn't eaten before Xmas day!) With fruit juice and bucks fizz

Beetle76 · 20/12/2020 18:10

Mince pies and eggnog in our house. We start lunch between 12 and 1pm so no need for anything substantial...
