What are you having for pudding?

We usually do Christmas Pud and one other. Have previously done Lemon Meringue pie, or pavlova. Needing some inspiration for a light(ish) Christmas pud alternative! (And not trifle, although I love it, my DH thinks it’s too wet!)
What are you having?

We're having trifle so no help sorry haha

Friendshighschool · 11/12/2020 19:08

I’m going to try and make chocolate mouse.

JuneFromBethesda · 11/12/2020 19:09

I'm not cooking, I'm cheating. We had a Salted Caramel Pavlova from Cook last year and it was sublime. I like cooking, especially puddings, but this was worth every penny.

We don't have Christmas pudding as none of us likes it!

PumpkinPie2016 · 11/12/2020 19:27

We are only having Xmas pud this year as it's just 4 of us.

What about a lemon tart? There are some nice premade options and it's light.

LyraBelaqua · 11/12/2020 19:36

Espresso martini cheesecake, banoffee pie and Ben and Jerry’s phish food ice cream for my son.

@Friendshighschool

I’m going to try and make chocolate mouse.
Nice

Nigella’s Christmas pavlova but not with pomegranate. More likely to be berries of some sort as nobody is that keen on pomegranate.

CatChant · 11/12/2020 19:45

Ursula Ferrigno's chocolate and chestnut torte dusted with icing sugar to resemble fresh fallen snow, and decorated with tiny wooden reindeer, robins, Christmas trees and presents.

I've been making it every Christmas for about 20 years, I think.

passthemustard · 11/12/2020 19:54

Xmas pud obvs as it's my fave. But I've also got an espresso martini roulade and a rhubarb and custard crumble tart (I think) both frozen from Lidl 😂😂 will have baby born a few days before Xmas so I'm not planning on making anything

doodlejump1980 · 11/12/2020 20:12

@passthemustard how exciting a Christmas baby! Hope everything goes amazingly for you (and everyone else brings YOU pudding!)

this Portuguese chocolate torte (Caprese Cake) is fucking lush!

It is super rich and moist, gluten free and last for ages so you can make it in advance. Serve with double cream...

I'm making Biscoff/Speculoos cheese cake. Biscoff spread for the filling and home made Speculoos biscuit base. Made it last year and went down a treat.

Camomila · 11/12/2020 20:29

We tend to have pudding mid-afternoon with a tea or coffee.
There's usually a choice of panettone/pandoro and mince pies.
Am also going to buy a fancy yule log amd DS1 and I will be making/decorating shortbread.

I'd like to bake the yule log but not sure when I'll have time really.

Roominmyhouse · 11/12/2020 20:31

Currently got a Sainsbury’s chocolate Christmas tree cheesecake in my basket with some baileys cream to go with it.

CosyAcorn · 11/12/2020 20:34

We're having Booths sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate yule log. Probably will only have one straight after the meal and save the other for supper time.

Hellohah · 11/12/2020 20:38

We're having Christmas Pud, Raspberry Cheesecake and Pecan Roulade

grassisjeweled · 11/12/2020 20:38

Ordered a cheesecake from the Italian deli

RayOfSunshine2013 · 11/12/2020 20:41

Probably the whole tub of heroes

Redyoyo · 12/12/2020 00:11

We've got sticky toffee trifle from marks, I'll get a viennetta as well as we always have one at christmas reliving our childhoods!

Boymumzy · 12/12/2020 01:44

Baking a Black Forest cake, will probably grab a nice shop bought roulade.

EnPoinsettia · 12/12/2020 04:45

Cinnamon doughnuts

Anothertiredmother · 12/12/2020 04:49

A chocolate Colin the Caterpillar

Chailatte20 · 12/12/2020 06:29

Nobody can manage a pudding straight after a massive lunch. We usually have mince pies & mini dessert selection at tea time after our long walk.

Pickypolly · 12/12/2020 06:35

You lot are posh!

I’m going to just get something from Aldi freezer, they have lovely puddings, cheep too.

Mumski45 · 12/12/2020 06:44

For the last few years we have had a spiced apple crumble. It has now become a tradition and is therefore renamed Christmas Crumble in our house.
