We usually do Christmas Pud and one other. Have previously done Lemon Meringue pie, or pavlova. Needing some inspiration for a light(ish) Christmas pud alternative! (And not trifle, although I love it, my DH thinks it’s too wet!)
What are you having?

Waitrose fresh vanilla baked cheesecake.
Homemade pavlova made by my niece
Chocolate torte

blackteaplease · 12/12/2020 06:51

Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream here. None of us like Christmas pudding

Ineedabiscuit · 12/12/2020 06:53

We will have Christmas pudding with cream or brandy butter or custard.
I will make an alternative pudding which BBC Good Food Blitz and Bake sticky toffee pud :very easy all in one method in food processor.
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/blitz-bake-sticky-toffee-christmas-pud.com
Although similar it’s my choice and we will also have panetone and clementines too .

rockinaftermidnite · 12/12/2020 06:56

Probably tiramisu

Miltonkeynesmummy · 12/12/2020 07:02

We do a kind of ice cream sundae. The kids love it and it's easy!

nevergoingoutagain · 12/12/2020 07:10

We always have Christmas pudding, mince pies or Xmas cake. We never have anything else! With custard, rum butter and ice cream to accompany.

Saying that we are bubbling with friends over Xmas so may need something else!

Cluckycluck · 12/12/2020 07:16

This year I'm thinking Christmas pud, sticky toffee pud and some kind of cheesecake.
I will likely buy all three from Aldi but I may make the cheesecake myself (I don't eat it so it doesn't matter if I fuck it up 😂)

doodlejump1980 · 12/12/2020 07:28

Thanks! So many tasty sounding puddings!

We are having Christmas pud but you might like this lemon cheesecake recipe.

Half packet digestives bashed with a rolling pin
Half packet butter melted
Mix together and press into a tin

Whisk one carton of double cream until slightly thickened
Whisk in two packets of cream cheese, half tin of condensed milk and juice and rind of six lemons
Scoop over the top and level
Leave to set for a few hours in the fridge

Very easy and very delicious!

elQuintoConyo · 12/12/2020 08:09

elQuintoConyo · 12/12/2020 19:16

Xmas Grin i killed the thread with my Christmas pudding ice cream!

BefuddledPerson · 12/12/2020 19:19

We are having sticky toffee pudding and also meringues with cream and stuff (to be decided).

CassandraCross · 12/12/2020 19:23

When we were all at home mum used to make the most gorgeous Christmas Pudding Ice Cream, I'm going to have to find her recipe and make it in her honour elQuintoConyo, or I may be back asking for yours!

Normandy144 · 12/12/2020 19:25

We have the usual Christmas pudding and mince pies. Then I make a Yule log for the children and we usually have a trifle or something else, I think this year possibly a Bailey's trifle. Then of course cheese but that is usually much later in the evening.

NigellaAwesome · 12/12/2020 19:43

We are planning to have
Pavlova
Puff pastry and Nutella Christmas tree
Chocolate roulade
I was going to do Nigella's clementine cake, but I might do @Iamnotacerealkiller's chocolate torte instead.

All served with whipped cream and ice cream.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 12/12/2020 20:47

@NigellaAwesome

Its seriously amazing! just don't overcook it. it should be really soggy and fudgy in the middle. Man, it was a mistake to read this thread i'm now starving and on a diet until christmas week!

mamaduckbone · 12/12/2020 21:06

Usually I make sticky toffee pudding for the non-Christmas pudding lovers

MirandaMarple · 12/12/2020 22:14

Husband is making cherry trifle. I'm making Nigella's smoked salt chocolate torte.

weaselwords · 12/12/2020 22:43

@Mumski45

For the last few years we have had a spiced apple crumble. It has now become a tradition and is therefore renamed Christmas Crumble in our house.
That sounds absolutely delicious!
madcatladyforever · 12/12/2020 22:49

I'm having christmas on my own this year as my relatives are shielding and I'm definitely having christmas pudding and brandy butter, I look forward to it all year.
Boxing day I may have something with lemon in it, like lemon meringue pie.
Bread sauce is also a must, I only have it once a year and love it.

XiCi · 12/12/2020 23:25

Nobody can manage a pudding straight after a massive lunch
There's always one isnt there Grin

We're having the traditional Christmas pudding and dd has chosen the M&S Rudolph cheesecake as the other choice.

HedgieHog · 12/12/2020 23:30

I always make something, back to roulade this year if anybody has any recipes to recommend?
In the past I’ve made trifle, pavlova, biscoff cheesecake

LiJo2015 · 12/12/2020 23:40

A tub of roses 😎
