I love hearing what others have got their little ones, i like how we have so many different ideas and present traditions. Such as something you want read watch and need. I did that last year and was great or Just one gift from santa or no "gifts" but a panto show.

How big are your stockings?! Some of the descriptions of contents make them sound huge.

Ours fit a couple of small things to unwrap, satsuma, chocolate coins and a rolled up magazine. They're around a foot high and 5 inches across.

thismeansnothing · 06/12/2020 10:46

DD(8) has got a new CD player off me and DH. Father Christmas has got her 2 CDs she asked for, some Gravitrax extensions and books.

DD (almost 2) has got fisherprice till and a small toot toot drivers set off me and DH. Father Christmas has got her a happy land farm set and a small football.

I've also sorted some activities to do at home for me and DD. I've bought a 1000peice Christmas themed jigsaw and I've said she can stop up late a few nights a week and help me do it. It's also the first year I've bought snow in a can so she is making some Christmas themed stencils to use with it.

MillieMoodle · 06/12/2020 11:01

DS9 is getting a tv, a phone (my old one but he's not expecting one as we've said not until he's at secondary school), Minecraft Lego, Nerf joggers/t-shirt, Pokemon cards, pass the pigs, a switch game and a few books. In his stocking will be a game, some Pokemon cards, bakugan, a watch, some chocolate coins and a Fortnite annual.

DS4 is getting Mario Lego, a Mario plush, Cars minis, a scooter, a Mario game, and a switch game. In his stocking will be a game, some hot wheels cars, some Mario bits (pencil case, stickers, rubbers) some felt tip pens and paper pads, a wiggles microphone, a watch and some chocolate coins.

Just need to get some slipper socks for them both and DS4 wants Mario pants too.

Thanks to the PP who shared the page for Pokemon sweets, I'll be having a look at that!

PumpkinPie2016 · 06/12/2020 11:05

My son has just turned 7 (birthday end of Nov!). He hasn't given me a big list this time so I am going for things I know he will like.

So far:

A hot wheels stunt set (got it half price so a bargain!)

Monopoly game

Joke book and 'would you rather' game book

David Walliams book (he loves them!)

Colour by numbers

Paint your own dinosaurs

Minecraft pyjamas

Will look to get him so lego sets and new colouring stuff as well.

Not sure what else yet - he doesn't have many other people to buy for him so most presents come from us.

Amerimoon · 06/12/2020 11:07

@CloudyVanilla wowwwww that’s an epic stocking!!! I’m in awe of you organising all that for everyone, well done!

@ShowOfHands same as our stockings!!!

Thecomfortador · 06/12/2020 11:31

Then stockings have a variety of balloons, bath stuff, toothbrushes, chocolate, fake transformers bags and building block kit and a few other bits of tat. Santa is also putting up a cardboard rocket for them to play in.

ShowOfHands · 06/12/2020 12:11

@lockitdown I noticed a couple of years ago when you search online for stockings, sacks come up. I remember complaining to DH that I wanted a stocking and the algorithms were all nuts but apparently, this really is something people do.

I'm intrigued. You have a sack but call it a stocking? What do you call sacks?!

My children hang up a stocking which has some token gifts and a satsuma in it from FC and then have a small sack by the tree with gifts from us.

All these years I've assumed stocking threads referred to, well, stockings. Not sacks.

Do you hang them up on the mantlepiece or door handle or whatever?

lockitdown · 06/12/2020 12:12

@ShowOfHands when I was a kid, we had pillow cases :)

lockitdown · 06/12/2020 12:21

and hung them on the bed ends
