Bread sauce - yes or no?

I've never made or had bread sauce. DH says it's amazing so I want to give it a go. From pics the consistency looks a bit lumpy though, can I blend it to make it smooth? Also, does it freeze well?

Yes yes! Bread sauce is amazing - has to be home made. Its not a real Christmas dinner without it Wink

Oh, and it freezes brilliantly

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 05/12/2020 21:13

Absolutely-yes! Wouldn't be Xmas dinner without bread sauce

Salivating at the thought of bread sauce.
I love it to eat it cold with a spoon straight from the bowl.
Mayo is vile so I'll use a thick layer of bread sauce on a my Christmas sandwich.
Yes, I know that I'm disgusting.

Love bread sauce. Agree it is meant to be lumpy. Ish. How can it not be when it's basically flavoured milk and bread crumbs?

I remember hearing or maybe reading on here about somebody worried about lumps. They tried to sieve it. It did not go well.

No

@Judashascomeintosomemoney

Oh yes, but don’t do as my friend did and smother your whole Christmas carvery dinner in it, only to realise after the first bite, you’d mistakenly covered it in horseradish sauce instead. 🤢
I did that on a first "meet the family" with my then boyfriend when I was about 15! 🥵😭🤯🤦‍♀️

Buttered toast bread sauce is amazing, it adds a slightly caramelised, buttery flavour that’s so good.
