Why did I buy cherries in Kirsch?

I do a monthly “dry goods” click and collect from the local supermarket. This month I put in a few goodies to stash away for Christmas. A couple of boxes of biscuits, fancy crisps etc.
In my order was also a large jar of Opies black cherries in kirsch.
I’m not cooking a Christmas pudding or cake this year (it’s only me that would eat it) so why did I buy it? It was in my order so it was definitely a deliberate purchase.
What did I have planned for it please?? I haven’t a clue!
Kudos to the most outlandish suggestion...

Cherries in kirsch are divine. Over ice cream, yoghurt etc, with raw cacao nibs. Eat with a tiny spoon to make it last longer.

Advocaat snowballs all round!

Oh, god, I need to buy about 9 jars to try all these ideas...

So many good ideas I may need a second jar...
I especially like the tiny spoon idea 😍

I'm doing cherry Eton mess for pud on Xmas day. Extra thick double cream, meringue and boozy cherries. Its totally lush!

@RainingBatsAndFrogs

Because they are divine on good vanilla ice cream.
Thirded. That’s why I bought mine.

It was Nigella wasn't it? - just watched episode 2 this morning and she did Cherries Jubilee!

Alternatively, one with some prosecco...

It's tres Frenchie to just eat them on their own, slowly, as a dessert. My fave french restaurant round here always has them on as a pud, very cold, in a cocktail glass. Divine.

I need to get them. 🍒

for pudding, or a sweet brunch dish, blend half to a smooth paste, roughly chop the rest, fold into marscarpone , sweeten with some icing sugar (to taste I dont use sugar at all) , dollop on toasted pannetone, serve with a smooth brandy, and good coffee

guffaux · 28/11/2020 23:37

or even panettone lol- the kirsch must have got me
