Fake Baileys

I always have a craving for Irish Cream Liqueur this time of year but don't love Baileys as it's a bit too thick or sweet or something. I normally plump for a supermarket version.

Anyone have any favs?

I've just opened the Lidl £3.79 one (not the duluxe version Grin) and I think it tastes like banana!

I've got the Tesco one and I think it's decent!

Disclaimer: I've never stumped up for Baileys at home so I'm probably not the best judge. Grin

I'll try Tesco next then Smile

Tesco one is perfect. I buy 2 at a time because I'm awful

MoonBaby1 · 24/11/2020 22:08

Don’t do the fakes! I love a drink but previous years fake Baileys are still sitting in the pantry.

Go for Baileys almond vegan. Much less creamy but still quality.

princessbear80 · 24/11/2020 22:09

The Aldi one is good.

mommybear1 · 24/11/2020 22:12

Another Aldi vote

Scrunchcake · 24/11/2020 22:12

Try making your own, maybe? Then you can tweak it to your taste :)

Yellowcakestand · 24/11/2020 22:12

I like aldis

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 24/11/2020 22:14

Aldi, might even be better than actual baileys

Giggorata · 24/11/2020 22:17

The deluxe Lidl one isn't bad.

It's not fake Baileys, but Amarula is lovely! Not as claggy as Baileys (and lovely in hot chocolate!)

Notthecarwashagain · 24/11/2020 22:28

(it's not Irish cream either though, to be fair Grin)

Yamashita40 · 24/11/2020 22:30

Morrisons have real Baileys for a tenner!

Suzi888 · 24/11/2020 22:36

The Aldi version is good, it sells out! Sad

4Minions2CallMyOwn · 24/11/2020 22:40

Aldi for sure! Yummy!!!

StrippedFridge · 24/11/2020 22:44

It is ridiculously easy to make. Quite fun too. Making vats of Baileys and of Mulled Wine used to be my Christmas think. Sadly dairy does me nowadays so I stick to the mulled wine (Jamie Oliver recipe).

Another vote for the Aldi version, I had the Co-Op cheap one recently and it's also pretty good.

Having said that someone gave me some Mexican Coquito, it's creamy like Baileys but made with rum and spices and packs a nice kick so I will be indulging on that this festive season.

VienneseWhirligig · 24/11/2020 22:46

I'm not keen on the fake Baileys but I do like Amarula, which is similar but less thick and cloying than Baileys.

ThatDamnScientist · 24/11/2020 22:49

Aldi one is the best (dedinitely as nice, if nit nicer than baileys), followed by sainsburys. Both so nice.

The iceland one I found to be rather watery/thin. Wouldn't recommend.

laughoutquiet · 24/11/2020 22:49

Aldi looks like a clear winner but I'm definitely going to try and make my own now... hadn't thought of that before!

I've just bought an M&S fake Baileys that was Chocalety Salted Caramel Brownie fake Baileys and was about £8 which I didn't think bad. I've just had a glass and I'm a bit 😞 to be honest. Really quite salty.

TrickyD · 25/11/2020 07:08

Thanks for the Baileys Almond Vegan suggestion. DIL is a vegan and I am sure she would love this.

Mrsfussypants1 · 25/11/2020 11:35

M&S for me, not any fancy version (there are a few) but the chocolate/coconut one. My local haven't had any in this year, or ive missed it. I normally buy a few. Going against the grain on Aldis version i was not a fan, it was my least favourite.

caperplips · 25/11/2020 11:40

Real baileys or the Aldi Specially Select one, I'm not so keen on the cheaper aldi one, though will drink it if it's put in front of me!

This year we have a large bottle of Baileys (to get us started anyway) and I also have the baileys chocolate deers to serve it in - and I'm ridiculously excited about that!
