My mum bought me a tree!

It's been no secret that I've been unhappy with my tree for a while.

It is a black pre lit tree that cost 25 quid in asda 12 years ago. The lights are a weird white and against the black they look blue and I've hated it for a while.

I've never been able to justify replacing a perfectly functioning tree.

My mum bought me a new tree. Its green for starters, but it's so so lovely.

It's probably cheap for some but a complete indulgence for me. £70 from b&q.

I'm putting it now and it's a right bugger due to the millions of branches and taking me an age to sort but I can't wait to see it competed.

I'm so excited.

Beautiful! You’ve made me want to put mine up now, I usually wait til the first weekend in December but I’m tempted to do it this evening

OP that is gorgeous! You must be so happy with it Grin

Pumpkinstace · 24/11/2020 11:54

DD noticed I'd rearranged it straight away.

I feel a bit guilty now.

@Pumpkinstace

DD noticed I'd rearranged it straight away.

I feel a bit guilty now.

Have you a cat/dog/other pet that you can blame? If they knocked the tree in the night you would have had to put the things back on...

Also maybe DD would like the old tree for her room? Or you could put it in the hallway or the dining room and let the DCs decorate it?

Igmum · 24/11/2020 12:18

Hooray for your mum and that tree is gorgeous ❤️

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 24/11/2020 12:18

Also your tree is absolutely gorgeous and fits perfectly with your style of wall paper and decor. So happy for you! Xmas Smile Xmas Smile

Aw it looks lovely! What a nice thing for them to do and great to have a thread about nice parents for a change!

mewe3 · 24/11/2020 12:24

This really made me smileSmile

Thanks for all the lovely comments. I'm so happy with it, I can't stop staring at it.

The decor in the living room is mainly neutrals and wood with red and a little black thrown in. I tried to stick to this with the tree, using glass, wooden and fabric ornaments.

My house is teeny tiny and unfortunately can't fit a second tree in anywhere. I'm sure DD would make a space in her room given the chance though. It might spur her on with the pre christmas clear out (did I mention the house is tiny?)

I had to remove a whole shelf to fit the new tree in, which is why the old one looks a little taller... it's a lower shelf, they are the same height.

Yes - give her s list of jobs to do to clear out her room, once she’s ticked them all off let her squash the tree in and decorate it to her heart’s content! In fact if she likes cutting/gluing/drawing/etc she and you could make some decorations for it over the weeks leading up to Christmas if you have some craft supplies! Xmas Smile
