Do you wrap presents from Santa?

When I was younger, presents from Santa were set out in the living room unwrapped but still in box/packaging. In some way it felt more 'real' as presents from grandparents etc came wrapped Grin

I did the same for one year old DD last year though set up toys and unpacked them so they were easier to play with. I'm now wondering what to do this year, she's only just two so no real idea of what's happening but I think this will be the year I set the tradition.

What does everyone else do? To wrap or not to wrap?

Can't believe how many people do unwrapped presents?! The unwrapping is part of the fun! We do use brown paper decorated with stamps or string these days (takes way longer but is kind of fun) but I can't imagine just having unwrapped presents out.

Also, Santa brings almost all the presents in this house, only a couple from Mum and Dad, I now feel very unMumsnetty!

Yes, but in different paper to the rest.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 06/12/2020 15:43

Yes, always did, but that was stocking things only - somewhat scrappily wrapped in different (cheaper!) paper than family presents under the tree. Santa only ever brought stocking presents in this house.

Santa brings stocking gifts only. These are wrapped but not normally to the standard of normal presents (Santa is very busy, and his elves are often on the sherry while stuffing stockings).

The wrapping sometimes deteriorates to sellotaping a bag round an item but it doesn't really matter as they are in the stocking.

Yes. Wrapped in different paper and in the stocking. Presents under the tree are to be open later and are from people.

Nc135 · 06/12/2020 15:56

@Lexilooo haha yes never wrapped to the same standard. Santa and his elves are far too busy. Hick

Never heard of unwrapped Christmas presents! As a child all of our presents in stockings and under the tree were from Santa. Siblings and I had different wrapping paper to distinguish our presents (tree presents matched stocking presents so we could identify our own paper). DS is only 2 so didn’t really understand last year but we’ll be doing that this year. Unwrapping is part of the fun and makes it last longer.

Everything wrapped except a few of the stocking presents. I love wrapping 🤣

Amerimoon · 06/12/2020 18:05

Yes!! Everything is from Santa, all wrapped - it’s amazing for them!!

PurpleMustang · 06/12/2020 22:50

Santa has his own paper and usually has about 6 colours. And when he wraps he is mixing the colours and sizes so there is a wave of mixed colours for when placed out. Santa may be a bit OTT here 😂 oh and we got around the Santa brings all presents here (from parents) by saying we sent the money to Santa to pay for them

lostandfound55 · 08/12/2020 12:55

In our house Santa always wraps in plain gold paper.

caperplips · 08/12/2020 13:55

Nope! Never! Santa did not wrap our stuff when I was a child and dh's family made little effort on the Santa front so he has no memories of it at all.

Santa has never wrapped dd's toys either, they are laid out and arranged very nicely in a sort of display. When she was little it added to the magic to open the sitting room door and see a pile of amazing stuff!

We do wrap all presents for under the tree though and dh and I leave one wrapped one there for dd. She is 15 now and santa still brings all her gifts apart from that one (and any from family / friends of course)

spiderlight · 08/12/2020 14:18

No, silly - the elves do! Always in red paper.
