Just what I said basically.

We are going to put one of our trees up today. We have an artificial one and always get a massive real one in the run up to Christmas.

My neighbour had already put her decs up, I'm late to the game.

Too early, or let's milk it for as long as possible?

I've only just taken Halloween Dec down. I enjoying the clear space for a few few weeks.
I'd love to see houses decorated soon though, definitely with lights outside etc

SquirtleSquad · 08/11/2020 18:10

Thank you @Dollywood, it's going to be epic Grin

For those with their judgey pants rammed all the way up their arses you never know when you're driving past a house in November with a fully lit tree and decorations with a terminally ill child who might not make it to Christmas or it's going to be their last one so maybe try and judge a little less.

MrsKingfisher · 08/11/2020 18:15

I put ours up today! But only because I am having to go away with work for the next few weeks so by the time I get back I don't think I'll be arsed. Haven't decorated it just put it up and popped on the lights. Don't feel remotely Christmassy yet.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 08/11/2020 18:18

Some people obviously haven’t noticed that this is the Christmas Topic.

Grinches are not allowed here.

Ginogineli · 08/11/2020 18:46

I’m doing a lot of mine next weekend 14/15 Nov outside lights etc

Then weekend after the decorations 22 nov

Tree 1st weekend Dec as I get a couple of real ones and want them to last

Riapia · 08/11/2020 19:08

My tree goes up on advent and stays up until candlemas day.

LionLily · 08/11/2020 19:20

We are playing the 'Xmas By Stealth' game. All the decs are out of the loft and in the spare room.
Every couple of days someone is allowed to pick something and put it out. So far we have - Xmas water spinner, twig tree, pine cone LED candles, and (randomly) Xmas serviettes. We also have some lights in the back garden. Thank god nothing musical yet...
The rules are no tree until December but everything else is fair game.

TheJourneyWoman · 08/11/2020 19:23

I saw a tree today in someone's window. I dashed home to ask kids should we put ours up too? They squashed my hopes with a flat no, not till the 1st Mum!

Sad
CloudyVanilla · 08/11/2020 19:25

I was very surprised today when DP said he thinks we should put our Christmas decs up on 25th November Grin in usually the one insisting they go up in the first of December and that is considered the earliest to us!

I think this year really is the year of doing what gets you through. Personally I will still be insisting we wait until the last week of November at the earliest but I comoletely get why people want to start bringing festivity and magic into their home

ravensoaponarope · 09/11/2020 10:39

I'm making myself wait until 1st December.
But I've started watching Christmas movies to cheer myself up.

Simplyunacceptable · 09/11/2020 11:01

We always get a real tree so can’t put it up before early December, it would literally be bare by Christmas if we put one up now...

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/11/2020 11:04

Think I will put mine up earlier than usual this year. Just feel a wee bit of tinsel and some twinkly lights are always a good cheerful thing in these challenging times!

Yawningyawning · 09/11/2020 11:11

Go for it, enjoy!

mammafive · 09/11/2020 11:22

Mines went up too 🌲

WanderlustWitch · 09/11/2020 11:31

Our went up on Friday 🎄

PinkSpring · 09/11/2020 11:47

I have seen some houses with their trees and decorations up - I keep getting tempted but then think I would be fed up with them within a few weeks!

Maybe in a week or two!

Jumbojem · 09/11/2020 11:54

My DS loves spotting the houses with decs up already but I've said ours won't be up until December and even then it will be when OH decides to go in the loft. I'm always amused by those who get them up early and then are getting them down boxing day. I like to enjoy them and feel the excitement and having them up from now would spoil that for me as they'd be part of the furniture by mid December.

Jumbojem · 09/11/2020 12:00

That said, I will be buying some new solar lights this week and will put those up straight away!
Some houses near us had fab pumpkin/squash displays outside and autumn leave wreaths on their doors. I'm going to adopt this autumn decoration thing next year then change over at December for Christmas.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 09/11/2020 12:10

Well we won’t put ours up until December but the thought that’s only 3 weeks away has cheered me up. How does the tree look OP?

GiveUsACwtch · 09/11/2020 16:43

Go for it! Ours will probably go up in the next week or two, although if DD had her way they would be up now.

We always take ours down just after new year as it is DS2 birthday on the 5th and like to have the house in order ready for it.

Longbarn5 · 11/11/2020 06:15

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and that your family member with cancer is better. I wish you al a really happy time.

Twinklestarrynight · 11/11/2020 06:32

I love my Christmas decorations and will not be sick of them before Christmas! I’ve even added an extra tree this year Grin

Screw this sh!t - we are putting up our tree today.
StickTheKettleOnAlice · 11/11/2020 08:35

@Twinklestarrynight they're lovely and go really nice with your room. 2 trees is fantastic!

Twinklestarrynight · 11/11/2020 10:17

Thank you @StickTheKettleOnAlice, I’m glad I didn’t get rid of my old tree in the end Smile

Nowayhozay · 11/11/2020 10:20

I always think it's a little disrespectful putting them up before or on Remembrance day
