How many Christmas trees

How many Christmas trees does your household have. Am I bonkers to have 3?

OP posts:
S00LA · 05/11/2020 14:24

I have 4, only one is real. I love Christmas and this year I’m going all out on the decorations

AlCalavicci · 05/11/2020 14:25

None this year ( thanks to Dkitten)
Normal just one smallish real one if I can get it delivered.
Or a tatty fake one if not.

LOL, this is one of the most middle class posts I've read on Mumsnet and that is saying something. I was lost at cinema room. Grin

JinglesWish · 05/11/2020 14:38

5, but only 1 is large. Might have another big one next year in the kitchen 😂

frasersmummy · 05/11/2020 14:38

I always knew mn was middle class but this takes the biscuit

I had to google orangery!! I have never know anyone to have more than 1 tree

feels the need to buy another tree now

inappropriateraspberry · 05/11/2020 14:48

My mum used to keep the 'skeleton' bare tree from the year before and spray paint it white. Then it would be put in the hall or dining room with lots of silver and white sparkly decorations on it. Looked so beautiful!
We'd have a real one in the lounge as our main, one in my room and another in dining or hall as well! My dad ran a greengrocers, so I think we had the leftovers from the shop!

apostropheuse · 05/11/2020 15:16

One in the drawing room, one in the morning room, one in the library, one in the dining room, one in the entrance hall, one in the turret room and I think there may be one in the servants quarters, though I can't be sure. Several line the driveway, of course.

(Or maybe it's two)

Friolero · 05/11/2020 15:19

I’m surprised by how many people have multiple trees. We just have one, in the living room.

ChimpyChops · 05/11/2020 15:21

Real one in the dining room, also family room.
Fake one in the lounge.
Thinking of getting one of the little slim ones for the kitchen this year.

Peridot1 · 05/11/2020 15:31

New house this year (we move next week) and it’s a 3 tree house. Estate agent laughed at me when I made that comment in July.

And I fell for our current house as it is also a 3 tree house.

Haven’t had a real one for a few years but am hoping to get a nice real one this year for one room at least. Although we have under floor heating so DH isn’t keen.

I have 3, 2 in my lounge, and 1 in the bay window in the dining room. Although, I think I'm only going to do the 2 this year,

UndertheCedartree · 05/11/2020 22:28

We only have one in the living room. We get a real one and decorate it together. I would probably have more if we had the room!

I have got a little light up plastic tree for the DC's room and I sometimes get one of the tiny real ones for the fireplace or dining table!

S00LA · 05/11/2020 22:33

I suspect that some of you Christmas tree lightweights are failing to see the Christmas tree potential in come areas of your house. You can have a mini tree on the front door step, on the half landing of your stairs, in any spare corner of the living room.

Or you can sell your least favourite child on eBay and use their bedroom.

Send your Dp to his mother / sister / best mate for lockdown and use all the space he frees up for another tree.

UndertheCedartree · 05/11/2020 22:42

@frasersmummy - I googled orangery too!!

I'm not so amazed at the amount of trees as the amount of rooms!! Grin

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 05/11/2020 22:42

We have 6 although one is only 2ft so barely counts.

I did inherit the 5th and decorations for it. My dc want one in every room and hallway so I think I'm being miminalist.

I thought the same thing and I'm as middle class as they come. Both my parents (3 sitting rooms) and DH's parents (2 sitting rooms) only ever had 1 tree each (PIL's was 12' though). But we have three! Fashions change and the tree is my favourite thing about Christmas.

We have the main real 7' tree in the playroom in the bay window facing the street. Covered in the kid's decorations.

A mini silver fake tree 2' in the dining room on the sideboard that is very kitch.

And depending how many visitors we have a small real tree 4' in the sitting room with my favourite glass baubles on it. We'll just have DBro this year (we're his support bubble) but I haven't decided if we'll have it up or not yet. It still feels extravagant but I don't spend much time in the playroom so want one in here as well.

SunShinesStill · 05/11/2020 23:03

Only 1, but fuck it I want more this year, even if I have to walk sideways to get past them!

SunShinesStill · 05/11/2020 23:04

Duck it, I always want an outside Christmas tree now!

DramaAlpaca · 05/11/2020 23:08

A real one, tastefully decorated, in the sitting room.

An artificial one with coloured lights and tinsel in my little snug.

movingonup20 · 05/11/2020 23:08

Never heard of anyone having mire than one!

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/11/2020 23:10

Oh I have a couple of mini faux trees as well - 1.5’ or so - but I didn’t think those counted. They usually sit on the sideboard in the dining room, and when I WOH I had one on my desk at work throughout December.

I also have a set of 3 dinky little ones - 6” or thereabouts - which I bought in the January sales earlier this year. They are going to sit on the window sill in the hallway.

movingonup20 · 05/11/2020 23:13

@frasersmummy

I though orangery was something in hotels/restaurants to be honest. Us mere mortals have a living room and dining room, perhaps a snug or office in addition if lucky!

That said my new house (fingers crossed sale completes this month) has two living spaces never thought about 2 trees, maybe???

OhTheRoses · 05/11/2020 23:17

Two. Delivered and decorated by the tree man who also does the fireplace in the dining room. I have a couple of modern twiggy tree things with lights in the family room.

justasking111 · 05/11/2020 23:22

OH would divorce me if we had more than one. Which we have always had in the sitting room, he wants it moved into the conservatory this year which we never use in the winter which made me sad.

DIL has three one in a very large hall, one in the sitting room and a small one in the conservatory.
