Thinking of getting this for my kids as they make such a mess making hot chocolate at the moment.

Did it get reduced at all for Black Friday last year?

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 02/11/2020 13:10

I’m not sure if it was for Black Friday but I get emails quite frequently with £20 off. I think it’s because I signed up to their loyalty scheme.
I’ve never seen it with more than £20.
Btw it makes the best hot chocolate ever.

snowstorm2012 · 02/11/2020 13:36

Definitely recommend it, it's going to be a long winter as it is, may as well have some pleasures!

Graffitiqueen · 03/11/2020 08:39

I've found a £20 off code, but looking at hotukdeals it seems that qvc sometimes do better deals so think I'll hold off and keep an eye out for a better deal.

Bearbehind · 03/11/2020 08:47

QVC have already done their Today’s Special Value on the Velvetiser so are unlikely to do it again before Christmas

It was £85 plus £5 P&P and came with 2 cups, 1 box of chocolate sachets and 1 box of latte sachets

Isadora2007 · 03/11/2020 09:22

It really is fab and makes lovely hot chocolate- but I’d say it’s not really a “mess free” make... if you’ve a tasimmo machine the hot chocolate Options are probably less messy. And cheaper even if you needed to buy the machine too.

MidnightFlit · 03/11/2020 09:25

How is it different/better than a normal milk frother? Other than it's a nice copper colour and has a handle?

Genuinely interested in the answers as it might be the solution for a hard-to-buy-for-but-addicted-to-hot-chocolate male relative...

MsMiaWallace · 03/11/2020 10:46

Same here would love one but for the price I'm like Hmm
I'm gonna scope out Lavazza milk frother in Black Friday or a Dualit. The Velvetiser is made by Dualit.

BeaLola · 04/11/2020 00:30

My DS then 11 bought it Winkfir my hard to buy for DH last year - he loved it and tbh DS loves it and I pretty much even like the hot chocolate ( I normally hate hot chocolate)

It looks lovely, is damn easy to use , takes 2.5 mins and you can drink it straight away plus it's lovely hot chocolate . My DH has surprised himself with how much he likes it and it has been used all year through. If my hard to buy for DB liked hot chocolate I would buy him one this year Grin

You pour the milk in, pop the chocolate flakes on top, press the button & get beautiful hot chocolate 2.5 minutes later - I’m not sure if that’s different to a normal milk frother.

I’d definitely recommend it if they’re a hot chocolate lover!

Noheadlockshere · 04/11/2020 08:38

Possibly a daft question but do you have to use the Hotel Chocolate hot chocolate mixes in the Velvetiser or are there cheaper alternatives? Thank you!

AgnesNaismith · 04/11/2020 08:42

There are cheaper alternatives. The velvetiser is just the dualit milk frother in a shinier casing Grin

wowfudge · 04/11/2020 08:46

There was a thread about this a couple of days ago and there are other brands available that do the same thing for a fraction of the price. Look at electric milk frothers on Amazon, for example.

alpinia · 04/11/2020 08:49

I'm also curious about this. What does it offer over a normal milk frother? I have the nespresso milk thingy that heats and mixes. I tried it with some chocolate and while it did mix bits also stuck to the bottom. Does this happen with the velvetiser? But DH loves hot chocolate and I thought it might be a good xmas gift.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 04/11/2020 10:21

Love ours, unfortunately it’s has spoilt me cos all the other hot chocolates are now plain nasty!

I don’t know if it’s any better than other milk frothers, but for that price you get a selection box of mixed chocolates, a voucher for more and a couple of cups. I think it’s worth the money but I don’t have anything to compare it to

EnjoyingTheSilence · 04/11/2020 10:22

@alpinia ours doesn’t get bits stuck to the bottom

EnjoyingTheSilence · 04/11/2020 10:23

@Noheadlockshere you can use other brands in it

Batlights · 04/11/2020 10:30

I fancy one of these or something like it but would it really be any better than warming milk in a pan and then frothing it myself with a hand held frother? The fact that it only does one cup at a time puts me off, also I've heard its not hot enough. It also looks like the internal whisk is plastic which isn't great.

just5morepeas · 04/11/2020 10:31

Don't want to be a grinch here but wanted to say that I've tried a velvetiser got chocolate and wasn't impressed - especially for the price. They also not get warm, not hot, in case that's important to you.

Batlights · 04/11/2020 10:50

@just5morepeas your just being honest, the velvetiser is obviously the gadget of the moment, potentially a perfect Christmas gift. I appreciate your honesty as the temperature matters to me. It sounds like Id be better off just sticking to my usual method and just buy some of that HC salted caramel hot chocolate which is what I susoect is really tempting me!

teacuptale · 04/11/2020 11:01

I’ve heard so many positive reports about the Velvetiser and I’m so tempted, but the temperature puts me off. I like my hot chocolate to be really hot. It’s called ‘hot chocolate’ not ‘warm chocolate’ after all.

MidnightFlit · 04/11/2020 12:33

I think even the Velvetiser 'recommends' that you warm up your cup with boiling water first if you want it hot-hot.

Hmm. Am now thinking I might buy some Hotel Chocolat velvetiser chocolate and try it out in my own milk frother first.

ktsc89 · 04/11/2020 12:36

Could I be cheeky and jump on this thread for recommendations of the best hot chocolates to have in it? Have got one for my brother for Christmas. Was thinking milky hot chocolate flavour and...... any other suggestions?

snaxinyourslacks · 04/11/2020 12:43

I got one for Christmas last year and I still use it regularly. Previously I did try to use a nespresso milk frother to make hot chocolate but it would always stick at the bottom. It doesn't stick with the velvetiser. You could use any grated chocolate or chocolate powder in it but the Hotel Chocolate sachets are so delicious that you probably wouldn't want to use cheaper chocolate after you've tasted it.

opinionatedfreak · 04/11/2020 12:46

My friends have the dualit milk frother. I have a velvetiser

I've examined the former very carefully and used it. I think it is pretty much the same product in less attractive external packaging.

I use hotel chocolat or whatever I've been given - currently got some from Chocolate Tree in Edinburgh (they have a new name, I think, but their stuff is nice).

AgnesNaismith · 04/11/2020 13:22

Gahhh I said that further up Confused it is the same thing as the dualit milk frother. It is made in the same factory and is the exact same thing.
