Thinking of getting this for my kids as they make such a mess making hot chocolate at the moment.

Did it get reduced at all for Black Friday last year?

@ktsc89 salted caramel is sooooo good. Dd2 loves the hazelnut, tastes like Ferraro Rocher. Dh likes the chilli, dd1 likes all of them 😁

Get a Nespresso Aeroccino, I’ve just got one and it’s great.

I absolutely love mine. My favourite is the vanilla white, closely followed by the salted caramel and the classic 70%. I thought I’d love milky but I probably won’t buy it again.

@ktsc89 pendragon drinks do chocolate shavings in a huge number of flavours which I have used in my velvetiser and love. I think they are better value than hotel chocolat. I particularly like the dark spice.

DS loves the salted caramel and DH loves the hazelnut and the milky

I like the salted caramel but I don't usually like hot chocolate as it's normally way too hot for me

Brill, thanks for the suggestions. Love this Christmas thread! Best part of Mumsnet!

Can you make hot chocolate from actual chocolate in this, or does it have to be powdered? I currently drop 70g of chocolate drops into a saucepan of simmering milk and stir. Would this stop me having to wait around and stir? I do it some mornings for my son (when he's off for a full day at college and I'm feeling nice), so time is of the essence!

It doesn’t like chunks of chocolate as it stops the whisk working properly - I’ve tried. So I don’t think it would work with drops. The packs from hotel chocolat are shavings.

Thanks Idontgiveagriffindamn, that saves me from an expensive mistake!

Btw, if it's not hot enough with the velvetiser you can press the button again so it does it twice and is then really hot 👍🏼

I think you’d be able to put chocolate in the food processor to make flakes, providing you put it in the fridge first so it doesn’t all melt!
