Thank you.

Thank you for posting and giving me something to read every day.

I am so tired of how this year has been. I log in and this is the first board I come to. I am so enjoying reading bargain threads, what people cook and like to eat, shop etc. it may seem trivial to many but for me it’s really giving me something to look forward to.

Thank you.

Hear, hear. Lovely threads, lovely people.

73kittycat73 · 24/10/2020 19:23

I originally joined MN so I could post on the Christmas boards. Xmas Smile I've been here a few years now...Thank you to all of you too, I love reading this section. Star

Lovemusic33 · 24/10/2020 19:39

Me too x

elQuintoConyo · 24/10/2020 23:36

It's total escapism with lovely people talking about wonderful traditions, food, thoughtful gifts, advice.

I do avoid EOTS threads though, I must admit Grin

DinosaurOfFire · 25/10/2020 01:09

@mbosnz I'll have a mulled wine and a mince pie please. Blanket at the ready! And nice cosy new pjs ready for the winter nights.
@elQuintoConyo what is an EOTS thread please?

Piccalino3 · 25/10/2020 01:19

I love this board too. I start to creep back here from August and stay till about February. Such a cheery place.

Twilightstarbright · 25/10/2020 06:16

You've summed it really well. It's such a nice space.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/10/2020 08:36

I think it's Elf on the Shelf! (I had to Google!)

CloudyVanilla · 25/10/2020 08:47

I'm with you OP 😚

There is so much bad news and negativity at the moment it the world and even in other areas of mumsnet.

Planning Christmas and coming here extensively has helped me so much with positivity and mindfulness. It feels like a really healthy outlet for stress and worry to be planning something positive too.

BunTooti · 25/10/2020 09:09

But where is the christmas poncing...ponce...poncetastic thread? Grin I always lurk and feel slightly bad about myself and my lack of crafting/baking abilities but it makes me feel so warm and fuzzy. Am I just not seeing it?

Think that’s it @BunTooti

I love popping into the Christmas topic for a browse. I often get good ideas for my own gift shopping plus it’s a nice change from all the ranting and complaining in some sections of MN.

Threeoleary · 25/10/2020 09:17

Yes I agree the Christmas boards are lovely, I'm sorry I've really only paid attention to them this year. These and the Low Carb threads are what keep me on Mumsnet although I'm not quite sure how I'm going to marry the two over the -eating- festive season. Grin

Threeoleary · 25/10/2020 09:18

Dammit! Strike through fail. Blush

Isadora2007 · 25/10/2020 09:19

I resisted the mini stöllen bites in aldi yesterday. Damn you- all this nice cosy Christmas chat is making me regret that decision.
🎅🏻

thelegohooverer · 25/10/2020 09:22

It’s my favourite part of mumsnet.

BunTooti · 25/10/2020 09:32

Thank you @CantSleepClownsWillEatMe I will have a look while eating a (shop bought Sad ) mince pie.

TheSeedsOfADream · 25/10/2020 09:34

Absolutely agree!
Though if you think there's no malice you weren't around for Mooing Milk Jug Gate.
There were smacks and tears. Grin

Poncetastic is launched every year on the 25th September. I have it on my calendar!

Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles begins on 1st November (in the book) so that comes off my bookshelf then and I read along with him and pretend I'm in front of a wood fire wrapped in a cashmere throw with a Cire Trudon candle instead of in Matalan jogging bottoms with a radiator and a Yankee lit. Grin

Duggeehugs82 · 25/10/2020 10:45

I love it too 🎄

Boholady · 25/10/2020 11:04

Definitely!
And no one is ever unkind here, either x

everythingisginandroses · 25/10/2020 13:58

It is definitely the only place worth being on MN, I love it, thank you everyone Star I too am getting Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles out this week, will be reading along day-by-day, can't wait!

elQuintoConyo · 25/10/2020 14:09
