No holiday in October half term as we usually do has meant I've started shopping so much earlier. I will admit I spend a lot on my children. We have no family/friends so buy for nobody else.
Hopefully we can get ideas from each other.

PinkJam · 15/10/2020 13:50

Bought Connect 4 and Junior Monopoly yesterday as they were on offer at Amazon

Bought two classic dolls from Disney Store today

And some Disney bits and bobs from Primark

ladybee28 · 15/10/2020 14:56

For DSS 14:

  • Rubiks cube
  • A new Kendama (was a big hit two years ago and he's kept it up)
  • No-screws-required pull-up bar for his doorframe
  • A photo of him and his friends sitting on a wall, facing away from the camera, printed out large in black and white and framed. He didn't know I took it so it might take a minute for him to realise who it is!

For DP:

  • His favourite beard oil
  • A woodsy scented candle
  • 2 photography books
  • A backnobber (so I don't have to keep working out all the knots in his back)
Appledrop · 15/10/2020 17:00

I have been ordering like the clappers these last few days, I dread to think what my bank account looks like.

For 17 year old son so far:
*Sockshop - 1 pack of 3 Calvin Klein low rise trunks (was the cheapest place to get them at only £27.99, normally £10 more) also used code: SOCKS10 to get 10% off which basically took care of the postage costs. Was very pleased.
*Coca cola mini fridge from Amazon, chucked it in my basket whilst it was showing £37.99 whilst I perused for other stuff. Went back into listing it had been upped to £47.99. Luckily for me it was still showing the reduced price in my basket and on top of that was offered 10% off it on top. Checked out quickly and got it for just £33.30
*FIFA21 xbox game with 1050 points. Basically got the points free with this one on Amazon prime yesterday.
*Onesie from Amazon

For parent in-laws we went and ordered from Fortnum and Mason the £50 cookbook gift box which comes with the book, tea and biscuits and also got them a dried fruit boat to go with it. Got another fruit boat as an extra for brother in law and his wife to go with the Night before christmas gift box from Costco. For my older brother, again from Costco got the Festive Tower of Treats.

We purchased quite a few items from the Amazon prime sale over the last few days but they were pretty much for us typically.

Still have to get a few more things for son and still need to get some things for my lovely younger brother who lives with us, just trying to figure out what. Got him two Christmas T-shirts so far from Amazon as he loves colourful and cheerful tops to wear.

OohKittens · 15/10/2020 17:13

@Appledrop I also got the coke mini fridge

LadyBee love the photo idea. Also going to google a backnobber!

ladybee28 · 15/10/2020 18:16

Ha! @I8toys it's not as dirty as it sounds!

JoanneCofton · 15/10/2020 18:17

Not christmassy but cosy - 3 teddy bear fitted sheets from Dunelm, the reviews are really good and I'm hoping they'll make the bed feel more warm and cosy now its getting colder.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/10/2020 21:24

  • HP door sign
  • book

Also Halloween costumes.

TheLastStarfighter · 15/10/2020 22:04

I bought the kids’ pjs from M&S with 15% off. Very pleased because they actually had the nice ones (dinosaurs, rockets etc) in the older teen sizes. I’ve got two young teens who are still very much enjoying being kids.

everythingisginandroses · 15/10/2020 22:12

@Appledrop - the Costco hampers and festive tower of treats look really nice. None of our relatives are getting them this year, though! Xmas Hmm Still, I am looking forward to trying the posh popcorn in glass jars, the wasabi/rice biscuit type snacks and the panettone which we got from Costco. Oh, and the pack of 10 bars of Godiva chocolate!

@TheLastStarfighter - good to see you on the happy board!

Equimum · 16/10/2020 07:30

Thelaststarfighter I’ve just bought the very same PJs for my son. He’s a bit younger than yours, but it’s already hard to find ‘kid’ PJs for him and he’s still very much a child. They also feel lovely.

lucysmam · 16/10/2020 10:55

Earphones for both girls, pretty tree topper from Wilko, some wrapping paper, marshmallow snowmen hot choc toppers (most pleased to have found these!!), wool to crochet some snowflakes. Some other bits and bobs.

I'm just about to browse online for a re-chargeable radio for the girls dad at work.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 16/10/2020 11:25

More stocking fillers (x2, 1 for each DD)

  • choc Santa
  • post it notes
  • science baking kit
  • stationery set
  • 3D erasers
  • friendship bracelet set
  • notepad
  • shower gel
TheLastStarfighter · 16/10/2020 11:39

@everythingisginandroses I’ve decided I am on doing Happy until at least March 😁

@Equimum I think other retailers are missing a trick! Even my husband has said that if they did grow up versions he would get some 😅. Same with the Boden kids ranges which only go up to about age 12 (particularly given my tall kids were in “age 12” clothes at age 8).

Appledrop · 16/10/2020 11:45

@everythingisginandroses I forgot about those yummy popcorn jars in Costco, going to go and see if I can order any online, assuming there is some left haha.

We have saved so much this year by working from home, no petrol, no eating out so much and such so we were able to splurge a bit more on family. As soon as things are back to normal however there will be no splurging so they best make the most of it :)

Yesterday also purchased from Argos the reduced price Flyte Snapper shark 3 wheel soft suitcase scooter for 4 +. £52.50 instead of £70. Will do for nephew, I can see him scooting around the airport on it in style. When my son was that little he had a trunki as these were not heard of then. Had a gift card that has been sat around for 2 years so used that, didn't cost us anything so well chuft.

Going to spend today looking for things for my brother, he is special needs and I love him to bits. He is always excited for Christmas and he believes in Santa so even better.

TheLastStarfighter · 16/10/2020 12:17

Thanks to @ladybee28 I ordered all of the kids stocking fillers yesterday.

  • The Dictionary of Difficult Words
  • iota
  • The Genius Square
  • Mozza
  • Oink Games Deep Sea Adventure

And am looking for Turing Tumble.

I’ve never been this organised this early! I’m going to learn from previous years though, and wrap as I go.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 16/10/2020 15:09

M&S Christmas pyjamas for DS, thanks again to @TheLastStarfighter. John Lewis have a nice Xmas sloth design, but sold out in DS's size (he'd probably find them too babyish anyway Xmas Grin). John Lewis festive tablecloth.

pinkksugarmouse · 16/10/2020 23:54

I paid for the massage on my painful legs
A birthday card and book token for my Brownie Pack young leader
An orniment for my daughter for her birthday
A three pack of naked snack bars

TheLastStarfighter · 17/10/2020 01:20

I’m posting here to keep myself accountable 😁. No idea where I am going to keep all this stuff. I don’t usually buy quite this early, but I keep seeing the discount codes on the other threads.

Today I bought

  • Polar Express Christmas book on preorder
  • International Elf service Christmas letters - with the 20% off code
  • a whole heap of stuff for the kids from Hype, with the 50% off code
  • treasureX for stocking fillers when I spotted them cheap on amazon
  • PlayStation 5 controller on preorder

Now I just really need to get a preorder on a PlayStation 5 - eek!

Ellapaella · 17/10/2020 14:39

So far for DS1 (18) I have got the following for his stocking:
Personalised cornishware Mug
Badger slippers from FatFace
Dior Eau de Savage
Ralph Lauren boxers
Hot chocolate bauble
M&S pyjamas

Also planning on getting a couple of books, a chilly's water bottle and some chocs/sweets.
Then will move on to the younger two boys stockings!
