I'm going to start adding a few items per week to my weekly shop to hide from the kids/stash away for the festive period Grin

What do you like to have in? I'll order some nuts and Pringles, and maybe some brandy baskets. But I'm mostly drawing a blank!

I've just bought my first pack of cheese footballs - they are nothing near as good as they used to be, won't be buying any more.

We have a wonderful cheese stall on our local market, with hundreds of cheeses and deli stuff to choose from. The queues leading up to christmas are madness!

A few years ago I went to the Victorian Christmas Market at Portsmouth Dockyard, and got some wonderful cheddar with sea-salt. Unfortunately I forgot to make a note of the maker. Does anyone know where I could get some? I love my cheddar sharp and crunchy!

Florentines, all the cheese

Mustbethewine · 02/10/2020 13:53

Chocolate liquors, posh cheese and crackers, Chutneys, artesian bread, paté

@TheSockMonster I make a concentrated mulled wine syrup, then when I want some I just add it to red wine and microwave it.

TheSockMonster · 02/10/2020 15:35

That sounds delicious @LadyofMisrule and a brilliant idea. Do you think it would work with an alcohol free red wine and would you mind sharing the recipe?

I can’t have normal wine as the alcohol content is too high I shouldn’t really have any, but the Tesco one is only 5.5% and I only have one tiny 125ml glass per day and it hasn’t caused me any problems.

Just went real life shopping at Aldi and they had Florentines, stollen, butter cookies, lebkuchen chocolate hearts, mulled wine and chocolate melting snowmen. Filled my trolley. Now need to leave them alone.

Love this thread! Adding bits on to my weekly shop and off to Aldi in a bit on the hunt for chocolate melting snowmen!
