Of course I'm grateful to get anything at all but My Mother has excelled herself this year!
Two cleaning products, one with the price still on and a slimming recipe cook book 😂😂😂

I’d quite like the Pinch of Nom book but see your point on the cleaning stuff.
Hope you get some treats as well.

anothernamereally · 25/12/2019 09:53

All of mine are great this year...a few years ago I got a box of nappy sacks off my Nan

Glentherednosedbattleostrich · 25/12/2019 09:54

I had the pinch of nom book on my list!!

I'd be less than impressed with the cleaning stuff. Saying that, I did get my mum some koh cleaner which arrived just before Christmas. It wasn't a present, it was because she has COPD and most cleaners make her I'll so I got some non scented stuff just because. She's told everyone I got her some lovely cleaner and cloths!!

slipperywhensparticus · 25/12/2019 09:54

I got....nothing off my mom not even a card she has a gift here but she pops over when she knows I'm busy so 🤷‍♀️

MurrayTheMonk · 25/12/2019 09:57

She has been telling me I'm getting fat for the last 6 months Grin. It's definitely a dig. She's subtle as a brick Grin

Bayliss and Harding. Got it last year too. Never used it.

PearlandRubies194 · 25/12/2019 18:48

A Santa Toy. It’s battery operated but there are no batteries included.

And one of his eyes have fallen off in the wrapping. (Grandma)

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 25/12/2019 18:52

A bottle of Upholstery cleaner.

From DH. Who tried to argue that I'd asked for it. I don't fucking think so. DS was with him when he bought it and had also cautioned DH about buying it. And yet...

Nevermind I shall leave a few google search history searches for 'how to murder your husband using upholstery cleaner' and see if that helps.

mnahmnah · 25/12/2019 18:54

A book called ‘shag yourself thin’ from DH, given with a chuckle. Bloody hilarious Hmm I replied with ‘need to have sex in order for that to work’

Villagegreenpreservation · 25/12/2019 21:50

Chocolate dipping set - shortbread and a dish of chocolate to melt. I did otherwise well so mustn’t complain

sideorderofchips · 25/12/2019 22:58

A sachet of facemask. It was chipstheeldest though so I forgive her

scarecrowhead · 25/12/2019 23:01

Face masks made from sheep placenta

Hairwizard · 26/12/2019 09:34

Santa towel. Small black clock which goes with nothing in the house. I hate when people just wrap a bunch of impersonal tat. Esp when they know you well.

Other than that i did alright. Dp got me a dab wireless radio. Much needed! Been using spotify on my phone but its not the same as radio.

Peridot1 · 26/12/2019 09:49

I got the new Pinch of Nom book. Although I bought it and gave it to DH to wrap for me.

DS got me Jacob Rees Mogg’s biography. He got that as he couldn’t find one on Boris Bloody Johnson. I hate them both.

He got DH Comrade Corbyn. DH hates Corbyn.

He did get us both a book we would actually enjoy too.

I’m planning on reading the Jacob Rees Mogg book in January. I think it will put me off my food so will help with the diet!

Shufflebum · 26/12/2019 09:55

Have we got a swap thread this year? Can’t find it!

DivisionBelles · 26/12/2019 09:56

My DM has form for shit gifts. In the past I have been given a black satin robe with a huge Chinese emblem/dragon on the back, copious Baylis and Harding gift sets and this year I got bubble bath and a three pack of turby twists which are triangular shaped towels that you twist round wet hair. I have short hair and she already gave me the same a couple of Christmases ago too. She only spends about £20, which is absolutely fine, but I can think of lots for things she could buy, that I actually want if only she asked!

Originalusernameunavailable · 26/12/2019 09:58

My friend bought her husband a romantic weekend away in London with show tickets.

He bought her an air rifle because she ‘likes to watch him shoot’.

Needless to say yesterday I wouldn’t want to be in their household, she was fuming!

IDontDrinkTea · 26/12/2019 10:03

My dad bought me a can of cream of tomato soup. I’m dairy free.... so clearly won’t be eating that Xmas Hmm

Another40ththread · 26/12/2019 10:13

Beautiful floral kimono from me, except the tag was wrong and it was for sil, I had a black thin robe that too big.

Also hair turban towel from mil who said As I opened it that she bought me one a couple of years ago and thought another would be useful. I donated the previous one unopened last week.

Toiletries I'm allergic to.

Candle from bil which isn't too bad only we are trying to de clutter.

OneTooManyBathtimes · 26/12/2019 10:22

Bath salts and a face moisturiser.

I do not have baths, and I do not use moisturiser as I have greasy skin and really CBA with them. Plus I'm not into doing anything more than exfoliating my face.

It's such a thoughtless gift I feel. SiL and MiL both got the same kit, but I know they'll use them. Everyone else got something they liked/would use. I feel very left out.

As it is, everything else so far has been great. Got 3 more days of presents though, so we'll see

CoffeeCoinnesseur · 26/12/2019 13:55

Is there a swaps thread anywhere? I got a shit-ton of Thornton's chocolate, I can't stand the stuff and just want rid of it.

checkingforballoons · 26/12/2019 14:26

Bright pink sparkly unicorn slipper socks with the grippy bits hanging off and a battered tag that told me they’ve been through a few charity shops. Battered heart shaped pack of those weird rose bud things that I think are for the bath? No label attached, sellotape holding the lid on looking pretty grimey. Again, suspect had been through a few charity shops. Both PIL. They give DH and I cash, and then I get one gift that has been bought with me in mind and a few bits of utter tat to even up the piles as they buy more for DH and SIL. It’s an odd system, but I’ve accepted it now. Last year I got a pair of men’s socks and a tiny miniature canvas storage box covered in neon floral fabric that was so thin you could see the flimsy cardboard the box was made from Grin
Body lotion from SIL that she would have been given as a work freebie. This did at least top the year she bought DH a present that he’d like and me baby clothes. Because obviously the baby I was pregnant with was solely mine.

ElsasSalamander · 26/12/2019 15:41

Bought DS the Harry Potter invisibility cloak that works via an app on your phone. App won’t work at all, apparently hundreds of people are having the same problem, still wasn’t working this morning = very disappointed DS. Hoping they will get it sorted out soon so he can actually use it otherwise it’ll be returned

sleepismysuperpower1 · 26/12/2019 15:50

@RubbishRubbishRubbish see if you have a hygiene bank drop off location near you. they would appreciate the set
