Christmassy scented candles

Which scented candles smell the most festive, with good 'throw' ie, filling rooms with scent? I quite like the wintery pine ones (not loo cleaner pine) rather than the very sweet smelling ones.

What are your favourites? I'm after some inspiration. Any discount codes or suggestions also gratefully received!

Try wilko. They have vandals sprays and pot pourri. Cinnamon and orange smells are nice.

ineedto · 16/12/2019 15:31

Sainsbury's ones are great.

MadisonAvenue · 16/12/2019 15:31

Not sure if it's the sort of scent you're looking for but Home Bargains Gingerbread candle is amazing, and it's only £2.99 for a large jar.

The White Company winter Fir Tree candle is exactly what you want - fresh air on a forsty walk in a pine forest and not a hint of loo cleaner about it. Ther other winter fragrances are also lovely.

A budget version is the m&S one. But smell it first. I found some of them smelled fresh and lovely, some smelled slightly catty and some of loo cleaner so their perfume source isn't very stable.

St Eval candles. www.stevalcandlecompany.co.uk I love the Inspiritus and the Orange & Cinnamon at this time of year, Sea Salt for the rest of the year.

milliefiori · 16/12/2019 15:34

The White company candle is £££ but the scent is so heady (but not overpowering) that you don't even have to light it for a while.

Henlie · 16/12/2019 15:38

I agree with St Eval too.....they are my favourite(!)

JudyDenchsBloomers · 16/12/2019 15:38

Some great suggestions, thank you. I do enjoy a good candle.

DH says I'm literally burning money, but I don't care!

White Company Fir Tree and M&S do one called Mistletoe and Fir - I like the reed diffuser in that.

MrsK · 16/12/2019 16:10

Another vote for St Eval, I did find some Inspititus scented candles in TK Maxx for £7.99. Bay & Rosemary also smells great

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 16/12/2019 17:11

I really like the M&S Mandarin, Clove and Cinnamon. Very Christmassy without being overpowering or smelling at all artificial.
I have one going just now. 🌲

MiniMileyMoo · 16/12/2019 17:39

A vote for White Company - I have a few festive candle and it's for sure the best!

Tahitiitsamagicalplace · 16/12/2019 19:56

Skandinavisk "skog" candles. It's like you're in a Christmas tree forest! Doesn't smell at all like pine fresh toilet duck the way most cheaper candles do.

MurrayTheMonk · 16/12/2019 20:00

I like st eval.
And sand and fog ones which I get from TK Max.
However I've got some bath and body works Christmas ones on the go this week that I got in New York last week- peppermint twist and cinnamon caramel a
Swirl. I love them! (Which doesn't help if you aren't going to America anytime soon)

Puppydogg1 · 16/12/2019 20:14

I love candles and have all my Christmas ones burning.

But this year I've bought some Scentsicals, they are thin smelly sticks, not plastic. They have a hook on them and you hook them onto your Xmas tree, they are gorgeous smelling and when you enter the room it smells so Christmassy and lovely!

RachelEllenR · 16/12/2019 20:38

I like the white company 'winter' one. Smells of Christmas to me!

Basilandparsleyandmint · 16/12/2019 20:40

I second the gingerbread one from home bargains

edgewater · 16/12/2019 22:26

Have a look at QVC. Their deal is on Christmas candles. They look lovely.

justaweeone · 16/12/2019 22:30

I am thinking about trying some wax melts as you get much more fragrance
Then I might just light candles as well

FirenzeArno · 16/12/2019 23:16

Homebase Frankincense and Myrrh is very nice

bairnk · 16/12/2019 23:35

Definitely m and s mistletoe and fir, it's my favourite Christmas scent and sounds ideal for you if you don't like overly sweet scents

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 16/12/2019 23:40

La Montana winter oranges is amazing- so much better in terms of fragrance and throw than the White Company’s Winter. If you like Winter, you’ll love it. Pretty cheap for the size and perfume quality

Mumtobe193 · 17/12/2019 00:23

Yankee candle Christmas magic. I’ve had the same large one for 3 christmasses now, so you get a lot of burn time for your money, and it smells amazing! Very cinnamon’y and warm, homely scent. I second the gingerbread one from home bargains too 😊

lotusbell · 17/12/2019 07:01

@BlueSkyAtChristmas, interesting as I tried that one for the first time last week and haven't been too impressed with the throw at all. Granted, I have had a cold so maybe sense of smell hasn't been great but I've also been burning a lot of the aforementioned Bath and BodyWorks ones and they are very strong, so maybe I've just got too used to string scents. Really wanted to love that one too as I was hoping to buy some other scents but bit put off now.
