Christmassy scented candles

Which scented candles smell the most festive, with good 'throw' ie, filling rooms with scent? I quite like the wintery pine ones (not loo cleaner pine) rather than the very sweet smelling ones.

What are your favourites? I'm after some inspiration. Any discount codes or suggestions also gratefully received!

John Lewis winter spice. Sells out fast.
Perfumes room without even being lit

The Bath and Bodyworks are strong aren't they? Which is perfect for me-Love a strong candle.

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 17/12/2019 12:42

@lotusbell they are a small company and I think handmade. So perhaps the quality control has missed yours? Could you contact them and explain. See what they can do? I know what you mean about becoming Anosmic... that happens to me too. I have for the first time had difficulty smelling my Diptyque figuer which is usually quite strong. Not sure if it’s my nose or the candle!

I haven’t tried Bath and Bodyworks but they sounds great, will seek some out. Where can you buy in the UK?

Honeybee85 · 17/12/2019 12:49

Yankee candle
Ikea has lovely ones too
Rituals
My favourite ones are from Valuspa but quite expensive.

And I love the scented candle selection from TK Maxx!

@BlueSkyAtChristmas, didnt realise there was a name for it! I bought it from an ebay seller so maybe they'd had it a while. Have tried any other flavours? Really fancy Alfredo's Cafe.
The Bath and Bodyworks are only in America although you can pick them up on Ebay. I joined a group (as advised by a poster on here) where there are a couple of people who regularly fly to the US (flight attendants I think) and will buy stuff for you such as candles and American sweets etc. Genius idea!

Wow so many great suggestions, thanks everyone. Lots of new fragrance ideas. I'm going to investigate the M&S one, bath and body works and Valuspa.

How do wax melts work? I don't think I've seen them in action.

Wax melts need a burner (either a candle lit one - use a plain tealight not scented because the flame is different ) or a plug in one .
Then it melts gently and wafts the aroma out . Wax melts are stronger than candles for scent .

I had used the Yankee ones but the last ones I bought smelled very waxy ( Sparking Cinnamon which is my favourite Christmas scent)

I'm using Neales Yard oils ( cinnamon mixed with mandarin) in the plug in burner , just in a bit of water and switch off once it dries .

TKMaxx have loads but you need to spend ages sniffing them all Xmas Grin

I nearly bought a Pumpkin&Vanilla but the cats would probably scupper it so I didn't .

Thanks 70 for the rundown, I'll look out for those Xmas Smile

I am greatly mourning the passing of Crabtree & Evelyn's Noel. It has been the smell of Christmas for me since childhood. My stash has finally run out Xmas Sad It is exactly what you are describing.

The M&S and White Company ones already suggested are similar but not as good. If you have money to (literally) burn, you can still find Noel on eBay at insane prices - £80 for 15ml of oil!!!!!

lotusbell · 19/12/2019 06:04

@runoutofnamechanges, I think this may be my favourite. I've got 2 candles, a small candle, a diffuser and 2 room.sprays. someone posted on here a while back about a bargain on Amazon, 24.99 for diffuser, room spray and small candle, rrp about 80 quid I think. It is divine and I don't know if I can use them!

lotusbell · 19/12/2019 06:09

Which I hasten to add is not available on there anymore but still prices on Ebay! They also had it at TK Maxx a while ago for a decent price but again, not anymore. Always looking for it on ebay.

marvelousways · 19/12/2019 06:50

I used to love Yankee Candle cosy by the fire but that is no longer available. I quite like the sparkling cinamon by yankee candle but it isnt quite perfect! I have just tried out Lily Flame Christmas Spice which has been lovely though.

MurrayTheMonk · 19/12/2019 07:26

I don't think you can buy bath and bodyworks in the UK unfortunately. We need a contact in the US!

lotusbell · 19/12/2019 12:46

If you're on Facebook, look for From U.S. to you. They usually get the 3 wick candles which are £17 plus £4 for up to 2kg. They also get handwashing antibacterial gel, American sweets etc.

GoodMPreply · 19/12/2019 12:46

Neom perfect moment. It’s wonderful

isithotinhereorisitjustme · 19/12/2019 12:49

Agree that the Home Bargains ones are great - they do very small jars for 59p if you wanted to try a variety of fragrances (I believe there are about four festive themed ones)
