Where do you buy your wrapping paper?

Just wondering where everyone gets their christmas wrapping paper from? I can't seem to find any nice ones this year!

Not sure fabric squares are more ethical than paper.
What does the recipient do with the fabric? Yes, they can use it again, but how much fabric are they going to end up with? That then needs to be stored and isn’t going to be used very often.

Cotton is also more intensive to produce than paper. I see where you’re coming from but not convinced this is a better option,

I only give gifts to my partner and parents so I'd either reuse or they'd probably give them back anyway for me to reuse. I agree it wouldn't be a good solution for gifting to wider family or friends unless everyone was onboard with reusing the fabric. But it's actually something we already tend to do with gift bags in my family so it's a very similar concept that I know works for us.

I keep and reuse paper. Always have done (as did my parents before me)

And if I do need to buy some, I get 'multiskilled' paper (stars, spots, stripes) so it can be used whatever the occasion. If it's at Christmas, the place I'd try first is the pop up Charity Cards for Christmas place (inexpensive, usually a good selection and a good cause gets something from my purchase). Otherwise supermarket, Wilkos or Poundland/similar

I got some nice ones from homebargains for dc Santa presents. The rest I wrap with last years left overs.

My loft

I need to buy some huge presents to use it up so I can justify buying some new paper!!

I LOVe The Costco double sided paper

I might try to buy some with glitter this year (like the one Sainsbury’s has a couple of years ago with small reindeer outlined in glitter ...so cute! Before they stop making it.

I remember an interview with Donatella Versace about her posh Christmas. She said she only uses orange wrapping paper. By that, I presume she meant some sort of heavy expensive burnt orange type thing, not thin garish orange.
Since then, I’ve been on the lookout for such thing, but not seen it yet.

Clean unused newspaper.

IggyAce

I always buy mine in the sale

Same here. I love the ones in John Lewis but don't want to pay £5 per roll.

SymphonyofShadows · 23/11/2019 13:39

I stopped wrapping a few years back, and use gift bags. Most of them are reused over and over as they are used for immediate family. Any that escape are replenished in £1 shop/Wilko etc.

louisethedisease · 23/11/2019 21:33

Wilkos

duckling84 · 23/11/2019 21:57

Whsmiths, john Lewis and matalan this year.
I feel I need to stock up on sparkly/glittery paper before all shops stop selling it next year. Our waste goes to an incinerator that generates electricity so being a recyclable paper isn't as much of a concern to me.
I remember when I was a child, the really thin holographic paper that you could hold up to your eyes and see through. Amazing stuff, would love to find that again.

Jan sales! Supermarkets & Paperchase. I wait for the 2nd reductions and try to buy the less obviously Christmassy ones so could use throughout the year so plain/spots/stripes/stars. Need to stop - have loads in the garage.

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 23/11/2019 22:00

I buy mine in the sales, usually from Studio as long as I can get free delivery. Our council will recycle wrapping paper as long as it’s not glitter or laminated. I only buy presents for my DM and her husband, DH, DD’s and MIL. DM’s council take the same paper as mine and MIL usually spends Christmas Day with us. I make sure we remove sellotape and I don’t use ribbons or bows.

(I’ve just checked my council website to check they still take it and the policy was updated on Friday so I’m assuming it’s remaining the same for Christmas)

Just bought mine from Paperchase as they do three for two.
