Non-girly almost 16 year old?

Dd is almost 16 but acts a lot younger due to having Aspergers, not into sport due to mobility issues, not girly (No make up) and not really into clothes. All she’s asked for so far is new headphones and a new dressing gown. She’s into gaming and had a Nintendo switch last year (more than what I usually spend), she has a pass to the local zoo and had a camera for her birthday.

Are you wondering what to put on her Christmas list? Suggest money for her bank account to relatives. Decent headphones can cost £100 plus, according to my DD.

Lovemusic33 · 24/10/2019 09:24

The headphones she wants are £15, she doesn’t like the expensive ones. She’s asking relatives for money as she has just got her own bank account. Just looking for a few gift ideas so she has a few things to open christmas morning as her sister will be getting around 5 gifts (from her list).

She has had all those things in the past, she got a hamster last year (which I clean out) 🤣. It’s getting harder each year as we have tried most things, she still has stuff from last Christmas which she hasn’t touched.

I feel your pain Lovemusic; they get harder each year!

dementedpixie · 24/10/2019 17:30

My dd is the same. Doesnt use makeup or buy clothes. Games for the switch, cosy pjs, slipper socks, voucher to get nails done (this is the only make up related thing dd likes)

dementedpixie · 24/10/2019 17:40

I also dont know what to get my dd either (will be 16). She got the switch last year too. She has her birthday in november first too

00100001 · 24/10/2019 17:42

Well games for her switch would be easy...

What else does she do with her time?

Biscuitsneeded · 24/10/2019 17:48

Is she interested in manga at all? I know a couple of teenage girls who aren't into boys or clothes or make-up, but they love manga.

dementedpixie · 24/10/2019 18:58

Mine likes drawing on a big drawing tablet connected to the PC. She likes anime style drawing

Serin · 24/10/2019 20:59

Raspberry Pi

cactusthief · 24/10/2019 21:00

A gaming chair

Cocoismydog · 24/10/2019 21:29

I know what you mean about things that aren’t even used!
What about bath bombs, bubbles, smellies, candles (real or LED) or are they too girly?
Books or a kindle if budget allows.
PJs and slippers to go with her dressing gown.
Sprocket printers seem to be very popular.
Fitbit.
Puzzle or board games
Something new for her bedroom. Lamp, throw, cushions, rug.

ConfCall · 24/10/2019 22:35

Would she like to learn how to do something new? Around here, I’ve seen (advertised on Facebook) portrait drawing workshops, baking classes run by a chef, sewing workshops amongst other things. Or a young driver’s course?

Lovemusic33 · 25/10/2019 09:03

She would probably like a gaming chair but I have no idea where we would put it as her room is small. She doesn’t have a computer, only a tablet, she has said she would like a better tablet but I don’t see the point when she already has one. She’s getting a switch game from her dad, she only really plays pokemon so is getting the new game.

She’s scared of candles (don’t ask 🤣) and not too bothered about smellies.

I like the idea of some classes to learn something new but at the moment she’s being bombarded with GCSE revision and doesn’t have much free time, we do cooking at home and she’s only interested if it’s cake making or pizza making 🤣, she says she will never drive a car.

She really is hard to buy for, her sister in the other hand is really easy as she loves crafts and Lego building.

what else does she do with her time?

Really not much, she does photography with me (mainly nature), she talks a lot about politics 🤣 and she spends a lot of time gaming.

Something personalised?
A new coat? Or trainers?
Another game for the Nintendo switch?

Chocolatecake12 · 25/10/2019 09:17

A photography course
Cake baking kits/new baking equipment
Cookie cutters
Frames she can put her photos in or an album
Record player
Tote bag printed with one of her photos
Mug printed with one if her photos
I’m fact look into photo gifts - there’s lots to choose from
A nice hoodie
Fluffy socks

TeenPlusTwenties · 25/10/2019 15:10

I've a 15yo DD who sounds similar without the Aspergers.
She is getting

  • a husky ride (that I had to book in the summer for Feb)
  • an electric blanket
  • a Divergent themed hoodie (Teepublic)
  • DVDs
  • felt tip pens

Other recent gifts have been

  • horse riding experience
  • keeper experiences
Lovemusic33 · 25/10/2019 15:31

Teen the husky ride sounds amazing, my daughter loves husky’s.

She has asked for a necklace several times when we have been out, something with a animal or feather on it 🤔.

Love it is near Gatwick airport, but weekends seem to get booked massively in advance and it only 'runs' in the winter months. If you are further north you may find one with a longer season.

WagtailRobin · 25/10/2019 15:49

INKA have a gorgeous bird bracelet (sterling silver) it's less than £20 and other animal inspired jewellery. In fact an animal inspired necklace you could easily find and it would be something she will always have and seeing as she is into nature, she would likely love it.

Lovemusic33 · 25/10/2019 16:18

Thank you, I will look at the husky ride even if it’s for next year, she would love it.
I will look at INKA, she doesn’t have any jewellery so I could possibly get her a jewellery box or trinket box, she likes dragons so will look at something dragon themed to put her jewellery in.

My dd is very similar and is almost 15

So far I've got her funko pops of her favourite game characters.

A few video games (pre owned)

Books.

A years nintendo online subscription (cost about £15 on a deal and gives access to loads of Nintendo's SNES and N64 games too)

Merchandise to do with her fave tv show and games like key rings, pencil case, mugs etc etc

Howmanysleepsnow · 25/10/2019 21:42

Echo dot?
Pokemon merch?
Dragon themed stuff?
