Christmas shopping: how much do you have left

Was just talking with my mum about Xmas shopping because she said she’s starting it next weekend. I was like I’m actually almost finished.
I only need: 2 £10 sports direct vouchers for dad and step bro, Nando’s gift card for bro and his gf, Nintendo online subscription for ds11 from me and his dad.
Dps annual lush haul which I don’t get till a few weeks before. Lush bath bombs the Christmas Eve box and a few more Christmas scratch cards that we have on Christmas Day with dinner. Still need a few more stocking bits and that’s literally it.
So how you guys getting on?

I have bought chocs for the advent calendar, that is it.

ChasingRainbows19 · 21/10/2019 17:02

Usually start end of November and I'm done and dusted/wrapped by mid December. I can't do it earlier I prefer to feel a bit more festive and near to Christmas!

stucknoue · 21/10/2019 17:05

Haven't started, it's not December yet. I save and buy all in one go (well one online, one actual shops)

stucknoue · 21/10/2019 17:08

Oh but I bought my university aged dd an advent calendar and popped it in the box I was sending her (of stuff she forgot) other dd wants a cheese advent calendar

Cherryrainbow · 21/10/2019 17:36

The boys are more or less done just the main present left.

I have lists of what I'm buying my boyfriend, mum, Step dad and sister. Gunna spread them over the next 2 paydays x

MrsPear · 21/10/2019 19:07

Made a note of budget.
Started lists. But first my children have birthdays.

Squirrelblanket · 21/10/2019 19:43

I've done most of mine except a few bits for my husband. We don't live near most of our families and we'll be seeing various people for the last time before Christmas starting early November so I try to have it all done by then so I can deliver it myself.

Shitfuckoh · 21/10/2019 19:43

I have left to buy:

Mighty pup figures gift set
Mighty pup vehicles - including mighty twins (not impressed!
Standing Santa
Wrapping paper
Cards
Few Christmas books
Smart casual shirts and trousers for my boys
Food

TemporaryPermanent · 21/10/2019 19:54

I was going to say nothing yet but in fact I bought Christmas cards because I love the woodland trust ones so much, and was given something which I've put away to regift. I also decided to give someone a bit less in their university starting present so have kept that for a stocking. I'm also doing the admin for DS birthday present which is straight after Christmas.

But I don't buy many and I will give all the teenagers cash this year, and books to the few adults, so its low stress.

FreezerBird · 21/10/2019 20:00

Haven't started really. Work is really busy until the end of Nov so I don't usually start till after that.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 21/10/2019 20:00

I've done a little bit and done a present list for about half. I don't like to finish it too early because I love it so I stretch it out as much as I can.

username578999 · 21/10/2019 20:06

I've got a few already but I don't think anything i paid full price except from a couple of bits .
I love getting presents in sales or offers that are on various things like some toys from very 30% off and some perfume from boots 25% off . I like to shop around get a bargain .
Im making a couple of hampers this year for my dm , I've got the basket just going to pop things in the next few weeks like nice wine , chocolates candle etc . I've saved about £130 on Asda savings card too so that will pay for a lot of food & drink Grin.

Whathappenedtothelego · 21/10/2019 20:06

I have one thing I picked up in the charity shop.
Have made a note of a few things I have spotted in the shops, but probably won't actually buy anything until November.

dementedma · 21/10/2019 20:10

I've made a start but am really scaling back this year to be more "green". Home made gin for siblings sorted. Guitar stuff for ds pretty much sorted. Need to do the dds ( adults) and that just leaves dh. Not buying for nieces and nephews by mutual agreement. We will all chip in for a simple lap top for mum to use as she is finding her tablet too fiddly now, but thats about it.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 21/10/2019 20:10

Haven't given Christmas a moment's thought and definitely won't do any shopping until 1st December but it wasn't until I started using Mumsnet that I realised people pride themselves on how early they can "get it done". It's like a whole other world.

MovinOnUp · 21/10/2019 20:25

None! All done :)
Just spent this weekend organising everything into boxes for each person/family.
Will wrap everything tomorrow and hide it all away.

I have also made up boxes for ...
December 1st (Advent calendar, elf, Christmas books, dvds and crafts etc)
Christmas eve (Jammies, Santa's plate, The christmas eve board game)
Cristmas day (tablecloth, crackers and...I can't actually remember what else is in this one)

I'm feeling very organised :)

Fizzypoo · 21/10/2019 20:29

No, I don't start until late November/December.

Fizzypoo · 21/10/2019 20:30

@Nextphonewontbesamsung I agree it is rather strange.

user764329056 · 21/10/2019 20:40

It’s like a competition on here, a race to first past the post

MondeoFan · 21/10/2019 20:42

I haven't started as been paying for a Lapland trip.
Now that it's all paid for I will start my Xmas shopping, probably after half term, by which case will be beginning of November anyway

reginafelangee · 21/10/2019 20:43

I haven't started. And won't start until December. Never do it before then.

MovinOnUp · 21/10/2019 20:50

I need to have it all done by October, Using October's disposable income.
As we go away to a Christmas market at the start of each December so I need November's disposable income to pay for that.
No sense of competition here.

everythingisginandroses · 21/10/2019 21:06

DH, DS, DSIL1, uncles & partners - done. (No parents/GPs). Hamper of treats - all done. Cards and wrapping paper and some booze bought. Baking cake this week. Menu planning mostly done.

Still to buy for: DBIL, 2 nieces and 2 nephews

Family scattered at opposite ends of country, so need to drop presents off in advance.

I am not a naturally organised person, so I am pleased to be well ahead of previous years, now just hoping to avoid overspending at last minute due to panic and the inevitable slowdown at my favourite booksellers which leads to stuff arriving too late.

Nighttimefreedom · 21/10/2019 21:11

If you've got kids and have done shopping already, when do they write their lists?

I do mine in first two weeks of December. Still leaves plenty of time to wrap.
I guess it feels more Christmassy to me to be doing my Christmas shopping when the shops are all decorated, Christmas music etc.

Fizzypoo · 21/10/2019 21:15

Where do all the presents go? My wardrobe and bedroom gets packed in December keeping all the presents in there. I couldn't cope with the clutter for 3 months!
