My favourite part of the festive season! What are your favourites? Has anyone got any of this year's festive editions? I have plenty stashed from last year, mainly ones bought in the sales, such as Neom and Crabtree and Evelyn Noel which is my favourite. I missed out on Diptyque last year, some of the festive editions are still really pricey on Ebay, are they worth it? Do Diptyque do a decent sale?
Have just bought The Whire Company Roasted Chestnut to add to my stash Blush

I've started purchasing christmas candles with my weekly asda shop. I live the glade and airwick ranges, also some of the yankee ones. Love the candy cane one. I'm also subscribed to candlebelle and they send out a box of wax melts every week and they've started rolling out some christmassy scents 😄

Just picked up a Sand+Fog Winter Pine in TKMaxx and it's smells just like a real Christmas tree! I love that smell - reserving it until a week before Christmas !

Got a tiny DW one which says Grateful on it and it has a bit of an apple undertone.
Currently burning a pumpkin one which also looks like a pumpkin also from TKMaxx and I have a black jar SAND+FOG one for closer to Halloween which is Pumpkin Coconut.

Looking for something not to overpowering but nice and ambient to start burning in December but struggling a bit.

historysock · 02/10/2019 22:03

I've had a lot of Sand and fog lately (also from TK Max. I've got their white pumpkin on the go just now and it smells just like an Autumnal candle should!
I'd never heard them before but I've liked all the ones I've had.

letsjog · 03/10/2019 12:58

@historysock I haven't tried them until this year and I'm really happy I did ! I don't feel as bad for buying them either as I've yet to see one above £15!

All mine have been the 7.99 ones and smell lovely. The huge jars were at my local TKMaxx at 12.99 which I think is amazing for the size.

I'm also on the hunt for some bigger DW ones as I've heard good things but can't find any ...

tinysnickersaremyfavourite · 03/10/2019 13:40

Can anyone recommend any that don't smell artificial? Eg I cannot stand yankee candles, I find them overpowering and they smell so fake.
I like Neom candles but not seen any in tkmaxx for a while. Are there any other brands like that made with essential oils?

purpleolive · 03/10/2019 16:38

I'm surprised no one has mentioned White Company Winter, that's my go to, I like to have a familiar scent. The large botanical candle is beautiful and quite good value at £36 (waiting for a 20% code)

NowhereNearTheHighSt · 03/10/2019 21:56

White Company winter is lovely also Winter Orange by Can To Candle .

HJWT · 06/10/2019 14:10

@lotusbell let us know which is best 😌

letsjog · 07/10/2019 20:37

@tinysnickersaremyfavourite some of my DW ones from TKMaxx have been made with essential oils. Maybe worth having a look.

I'm hoping I can have a trip to my local shopping centre to sniff about in the white company candle section now Blush

I love Christmas Cookie by Yankee Candle 😍🎄

lotusbell · 12/10/2019 22:12

Think I'll have to try a Skandinavisk this year then! Not burnt my Cire Trudon yet, or my White Company one but have a nice Bath and Bodyworks one going, which is very strong - took minutes to scent the whole room so getting some more maybe 4 3-wick of them thanks to cabin crew friend - thanks for that tip!
Wasnt overly impressed with DW ones in TK Maxx but that might because so many of them were variations on pumpkin and apple, which I'm.not keen on.

I bought some of last year’s Christmas Diptyque in the SNK summer sale - ime they don’t often sell them off in their Boxing Day sake, but annoyingly hang onto ‘em till summer.

The blue incense-type one is particularly gorgeous, and they’re lovely to look at.

64sNewName · 12/10/2019 22:27

I very badly want some kind of crackling wick candle - but for my bedroom, where I’m really wary of strong artificial scents. Do the crackly ones come in unfragranced versions?

lotusbell · 12/10/2019 23:09

@64sNewName, I've signed up for SNK newsletter so will look out for any BlackFriday or sales emails.
I don't know any unscented candles with the crackking wick. Woodwick candles do have some lovely fresh scents, not too overpowering.

I love to burn citronella (Get it from the health shop) in an oil burner. Its so clean and works out cheap as you only need few drops.

lotusbell · 13/10/2019 08:43

@Chilledout11, oooh how could you?! Hate the smell of citronella, it's only good for keeping flies away!Grin

I missed the Christmas the ne.. half asleep this morning but I still love it. So clean Grin

MissLadyM · 13/10/2019 13:43

I'm sick of being disappointed with shit candles! Although I'm seriously drooling for a Cure Trudon Spiriti Sancti. I love churchy smells

ThatsLongFam · 13/10/2019 13:45

I love a Christmas candle, but not going to splash out this year as saving my pennies at the moment.

Neom candles are divine, but I prefer a good old tacky Yankee Candle Grin.

Also, Lily Flame on the lower end of the budget. I had Festive Cheer, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day last year and they were all lovely.

Stompythedinosaur · 13/10/2019 15:53

My fav is Crabtree and Evelyn Noel, but there is one I got in Tescos that was a fairly good budget version, think it was the mulled wine candle by fox and ivy.

lotusbell · 13/10/2019 21:46

@Chilledout11, I forgive you but still...no.
@Stompythedinosaur, I have 2 of them in my stash, from last sales, just bought another for 19.99 at TK Maxx as a present, might not get this one again and it's so bloody lovely! Definitely a favourite.
Bought Nazareth and that's a bit church-y too. Not burnt it yet, it's too precious. Would love the Spiriti Sancti too, but I think I'd be disowned! Going by their descriptions, it seems a lot of the Cire Trudon candles have more than a hint if musty old incense and myrrh and thiribles and sanctity Grin

Nathan's body works candles you say? I'm going to New York in November so will keep a look out.

historysock · 15/10/2019 09:52

Nathan's? Bloody autocorrect. Bath and body works that was...

lotusbell · 15/10/2019 13:41

@historysock, oh definitely do! There is a group on Facebook where 2 air hostesses will bring back American goodies for you and post them out - anything from candles to sweets, I think. It then got me thinking as I have a friend in the same job and I know she's mentioned these candles before so I asked her if they were worth getting and she said she was stocking up on her next trip and would get me some - I think it's going to be lethal! They are a big brand over there, often doing matching bubble bath and shower gel scents to the candles. I think they're pretty good value too. A lot if pumpkin type Fall scents at the moment, think this year's Holiday scents are due to be released soon. Definitely worth having a sniff if you're in NY, you lucky bugger!
