My favourite part of the festive season! What are your favourites? Has anyone got any of this year's festive editions? I have plenty stashed from last year, mainly ones bought in the sales, such as Neom and Crabtree and Evelyn Noel which is my favourite. I missed out on Diptyque last year, some of the festive editions are still really pricey on Ebay, are they worth it? Do Diptyque do a decent sale?
Have just bought The Whire Company Roasted Chestnut to add to my stash Blush

I had a Yankee candle-evergreen spruce I think it was called-it was lovely.

Buddyelf · 01/10/2019 12:26

@posterrollrollroll I'm going to mention Yankee Candle now! I saw one the other day in the Boots Christmas range and its Apple and Amaretto and I will be buying it as soon as I can.

lotusbell · 01/10/2019 12:30

Used to be a huge YC fan and still have a few of their candles, Spiced Orange being a favourite but dont really buy them now as I cant remember ymthe last time I saw a scent that appealed enough, also not that impressed with quality now. Have had Woodwick too in the past, but don't find the throw all that good.
Has anyone tried Skandinavisk or very expensive but look lovely Cire Trudon? £68 at John Lewis and I'm drooling!

Thank you for the link, will look there too and loving the sound of the Bath and Bodyworks scents!

Oh good I'm glad! I was worried I would be a bit of a chav for liking them Grin
They have a Sugar Plum one that I really like at the moment. I'm not too keen on all the foodie smelling ones because they all smell of vanilla or cinnamon, but that one is nice.

historysock · 01/10/2019 12:36

Actually it was 'Frosted Spruce' think it was a limited edition-hope they do it again.

lotusbell · 01/10/2019 12:43

Not at all @rollrollroll! I find a lot if their recent scents are just rehashes of older ones so dont find them inspiring at the moment! I like the sound of the Amaretto one at Boots but not mixed with apple!

Yankee Cedar and Balsam smell just like a Christmas trees, they are lovely.

gaggiagirl · 01/10/2019 13:47

Apple and Amaretto from Yankee is SO strong! It's absolutely beautiful but very strong certainly filled my small house with scent.

Whitecandle · 01/10/2019 15:05

@gaggiagirl oooh never smelt this one before!!

DreamingofSunshine · 01/10/2019 15:20

I've been disappointed with Yankee candle in the past, quite artifical smells and they don't linger.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/10/2019 19:29

The last few YC I've had smelled strongly of candlewax rather than the scent which is a shame . I've had some lovely ones in the past .

I was this close *>

Whitecandle · 01/10/2019 19:57

@70isaLimitNotaTarget congrats on the cats. I love my cats

Another one here to Homeworx by Harry Slatkin. Just came onto QVC, hugely popular in US. Im a big fan of Bath and body works too. I try to snap up a Diptyque candle up in the SpaceNK Boxing day sale. I have one atm which is Spiced Orange, im a saddo though and only burn it on Christmas day[santa]

BelindasGleeTeam · 01/10/2019 20:15

My faves are my woodwick Frasier for, smells like Christmas tree.

And Heart&Home cashmere.

banskuwansku · 01/10/2019 20:26

I am not a candle expert and bought two smelling candles from home bargains for £0.79 each. I am not so bothered about the scent just the light. Yankee candles seem too expensive for me.

Caggie09 · 01/10/2019 20:32

Just had a look at Boots, cheap and cheerful. Have two others too. Not sure if the throw would be any good though!

Yankee candles burn black smoke when you blow them out, they have chemicals in them😣that's what all the black you get round the edge of the jars. Best candles white smoke when you blow the out use to burn lots of yankee candles. Not any more

@Ronniepasas agree with you on jo Malone I have thought they are not as great over last few years but there room sprays are good.

WellTidy · 02/10/2019 10:05

White Company's White Christmas last year was my favourite. I am not too keen on anything that smells of typical Christmas scents like cloves, cedar, pine, cinnamon, gingerbread etc.

£20 is about my limit, so White Company ticks my box.

QueenOfIce · 02/10/2019 10:11

Space NK shimmering spice is what I'd call a proper Christmas smell. I buy mine on sale every Christmas evening and put them away for the next year. They make the house smell SO good.

I'm interested in the WC Roast chestnut I loved the one Jo Malone did a few years ago.

lotusbell · 02/10/2019 12:57

I may have had a little spend...Blush

@RonniePasas, that one sounds lovely, and the Trae one. I've been hankering after Jul but now I'm thinking I'm ready to move on a bit from my orange/cinnamon/clove type scents - got a few already in my stash.
I've ordered some Fall Bath and Bodyworks candles from America, the old fave C&E from TK Maxx - planning on seeing what DW home options they have in store - AND...I'm slightly ashamed to admit I've just bought Cire Trudon from John Lewis. I've figured there's 20% off, I may not be able to find them reduced that much again! I feel slightly sick and not sure where I'm going to fit them all in now....
