Afternoon!

In the absence of @SideOrderofChips (I hope you don't mind me jumping in, Chips Flowers ), here's the first bargain prequel thread of this year.

Use this thread to post any bargains you may have until @Reastie comes back in a few months' time! Xmas Grin

Thank you @AlbusPercival for the Yankee post - I needed 8 little Christmas jars and am chuffed to bits with the bargain

I can’t get The Works code to work! It says promotion applied but it doesn’t take anything off my total.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/06/2019 06:52

Not everything is included at The Works, Sharon. I had that too so didn't bother!

Oooh my toys for a pound order has arrived this morning and I'm chuffed! Great quality and quick delivery too.

NoWordForFluffy · 19/06/2019 20:49

The John Lewis toy sale has some great bargains in it.

My local Tesco had Disney Princess (Barbie size) dolls marked down to half price at £5 in-store. (A "normal" size supermarket Tesco rather than an express)

Reastie · 20/06/2019 13:26

Amazon Alexa smart plug here has a code SMARTPLUG atm so you can get it from £24.99 to £9.99. Can only use code for one though not multiple. Camelcamelcamel showing up as consistent price of £25 so seems a good buy

Reastie · 20/06/2019 14:05

Also just to add, not Christmas related but saving money related, if ever you have an insurance renewal always get another quote or ask another broker to see if they can beat the quote then go back to the original seller and see if they can match or better it. Dh always does this with everything from when broadband contract is nearly ending to home insurance to car breakdown people. We save hundreds and hundreds every year. He’s just done one five minute phone call this morning resulting in saving £200 on an insurance renewal!

Only £20 in asda. Was going to buy a set but they don’t come with lids so I haven’t bothered. Hopefully helpful for someone on here though Grin

redexpat not to derail tread but have you been to Egeskov at Christmas? They also do a spectacular light show... So does Den fynske landsby in Odense.

redexpat · 21/06/2019 05:57

Have been to Egeskov Slot but never to the christmas light show. It always clashes with something else. We have been to the kolding light festival which was a great success but is only on for 2 nights.

NotPennysBoat · 21/06/2019 08:10

Had anyone been able to get @Reastie SMARTPLUG code to work?

Reastie · 21/06/2019 08:16

Maybe it was attached to my account? It came up as a promotion note on the item page

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2019 08:43

My local John Lewis has Swell bottles half price. They're not showing as that price on the website though. Worth a trip if you want one.

Swell bottles are ace. I have some liberty print ones (not bargainous at all) and love them.

Reastie · 21/06/2019 09:32

This is on my amazon home page

redexpat can recommend both den fynske landsby in Odense and Den gamle by in Ã…rhus if you don't mind driving. They both do really nice shows at Christmas time [santa]

PinkDaydreams · 21/06/2019 10:52

‘I don’t need a Swell bottle, I don’t need a Swell bottle, I don’t need a Swell bottle’ Grin

PinkDaydreams · 21/06/2019 10:59

Kind of related, I’m wondering does anyone hand clothes into h&m for a voucher? I’m wondering how many items you have to give them and do they go through everything? I’ve a few baby vests and pyjamas but not sure if they’d want them?
Also, do you get a certain amount of time to spend it?

PinkDaydreams · 21/06/2019 11:00

Also I saw on mse email that if you hand in five body shop bottles back to the body shop to recycle then they give you a body shop voucher! I’ve had so much from there and didn’t realize they did this, gutted!

CosmicVagina · 21/06/2019 11:16

I have two Lakeland vouchers if they are of use to anybody.

I have three Swell bottles, do I need another one?! @NoWordForFluffy did you happen to notice which ones they were?

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2019 20:52

I didn't notice, sorry. They're £12.25 though, so must be smaller ones. It may depend by store what they're selling off, given they're not online.

I've bought 4 little pudding basins to do individual puddings in (DS and DH want Christmas pudding and I'll do chocolate for me and DD) which were £1.75 each and are proper cream ones! I love them!

I got a jigsaw for my dad for Christmas and some chocolate gifts for the TAs in the DCs' classes and DS' teacher. DD's teacher has loads of allergies, so I'm a bit more stumped for her!

I also got little jelly bean boxes for the DCs' stockings. JL has treated me well in this clearance. Xmas Grin

@NoWordForFluffy is there a specific clearance area in John Lewis or is it still within its departments? Going to go on today but not looking forward to shopping with a toddler in a pram on a Saturday!
