Go to my parents and have a second Christmas Day.

HundredMilesAnHour · 22/12/2018 21:36

We'll probably go out for a wander round the shops then stop at the lovely chip shop for a chippy lunch! (I live 'darn sarf' but I'll be up North with family where you can get proper fish and chips! My annual treat!)

TeaAndNoSympathy · 22/12/2018 21:40

Boxing Day has always been as big a deal as Christmas Day in my family. We always have the family round, have a big lunch and then play games. It’s as good as Christmas Day!

Twotome · 22/12/2018 21:41

@cliffdiver I wish we had a second Christmas Day. Maybe i will host one Grin

@HundredMilesAnHour That sounds nice - something to look forward to!

We’ve always com Boxing Day drinks. Day spent with those staying for Christmas walking dog on beach or getting house ready and making canapés. I love Boxing Day.

Go to mils with about 300 (well 23) others for Xmas #2. She's like Jesus. She'll have less food cooked than I will for the 5 of us, everyone will be fed and there'll be left overs.

stinkypoo · 22/12/2018 21:56

My DP split up when I was 5 so Christmas Day with one parent & Boxing Day with the other (& both families).
Then added a 3rd 'Chris day' when I got married to include ILs, back to 2 now divorced but if it's the year DD is with her Dad, we have an extra one with my family & her, so Christmas Day & Boxing Day always has been like 2 Christmas days with an added 3rd every other year!

Doilooklikeatourist · 22/12/2018 22:01

Boxing Day is my favourite day
Lay in , out for a walk ( hope the weathers good enough )
Then leftovers , Definitely include bubble n squeak
Leftover Christmas pud fried in butter with caster sugar on top
Lovely 😊

This year i'm being induced! Definitely wont be an every year event though

freddiethegreat · 22/12/2018 22:24

Races. Traditional round here.

Girlicorne · 22/12/2018 22:50

We go to my inlaws, we have a few drinks in their local then cold meat (ham and turkey) and real chips buffet I prefer it to Xmas dinner!!!

ArtyFartyQueen · 23/12/2018 09:16

Boxing Day is when we go and see DHs family as we stay at home on Christmas Day so we can visit my Dad.

How about making a new tradition such as a walk with a hot chocolate picnic or going to the cinema?

Twotome · 23/12/2018 09:43

17caterpillars1mouse how exciting! Good luck

We usually go to a party - same group of friends take turns to host. This year however we are at ILs and then heading home early as DH is on call in the evening.

mossyroundhill · 23/12/2018 10:21

Boxing Day is always busier than Christmas Day. We go to PILs along with lots of extended family so it ends up with between 20-30 of us. Big buffet style dinner, Secret Santa and Christmas films, it's lovely.

PotteringAlong · 23/12/2018 10:23

We do another Christmas Day too! 🎄🎄

Bluearsedfly36 · 23/12/2018 10:26

My OH is working Christmas Day afternoon, so we're having a buffet. Boxing Day he is working in the morning and has the afternoon off, my DP are coming with the DC presents, so another Christmas Day really but this time I will be making a proper dinner. Unfortunately cows don't milk themselves Xmas Smile

goygoy · 23/12/2018 10:32

@17caterpillars1mouse Same for me, so we now celebrate DS's birthday on Boxing Day (he's 11 this year). Good luck!

SouthWestmom · 23/12/2018 10:51

We always went to London and saw a show. This year we can't as my ds is too ill. But it has been a fantastic tradition so far.

sherrysfortea · 23/12/2018 12:51

Will be recovering from a hangover, watching movies and eating. Back to work on the 27th so wanted a day where me and DH can just chill.

PumpkinPie2016 · 23/12/2018 13:04

We don't do much boxing day. I do like it though after hosting in Christmas day. Chance to play with ds with his toys and chill. Will hopefully get out for a walk.

Then on 27th we are hoping to go to the steam train!

dontknowwhattodo80 · 23/12/2018 13:11

We have a party with the in laws, BIL and family and DH's step sister. It's lovely as it's very informal! Just lots of party food and presents

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 23/12/2018 13:14

I'm working 7-2:30, I work in a mobile care company office which never closes, then when I come back we're having a second Xmas dinner that dh will have prepared, then chilling out the rest of the day making our way through the chocolates and biscuits and watching Xmas films!

Disfordarkchocolate · 23/12/2018 13:19

Quiet day with a slightly simpler Christmas dinner and a good walk. It's lovely.
