MrsJayy · 05/12/2018 14:10

What you serving with your pate? You need some sort of gravy and oil/fat for your roasties

Confusednewname · 05/12/2018 14:11

Grin I would get a tirimasu and swap a meat for a veggie option just incase. Cheese/bread sauce? Forerro rochers? Also, disposable plates/cutlery cause nobody has time to wash up after all that cooking.. and enough glasses

Clairedebear101286 · 05/12/2018 14:14

Tin foil to cook your turkey in!

How many people for dinner? Seems like an awful lot of food

outreach29 · 05/12/2018 14:14

I'm loving your list [santa]

No champagne?? We have smoked salmon with lemon squeezed over on something (like white toast or bagels possibly with cream cheese as well ) as a brunch - with glass of champagne - and Xmas dinner a bit later in the day.

Also stuffing? Perhaps you make your own.

Good luck with the shopping ..

pattypatta · 05/12/2018 14:22

There's 4 of us but that will last us Christmas Eve /day Boxing Day etc
I'm a weirdo who has pate on crackers 🙈
Also I like to make stuffed mushrooms (with pate ) in breadcrumbs

What day are people doing the shop?
I'm thinking sat the 22nd but will it be packed or Friday 21st ..too soon?

OP posts:
BiddyPop · 05/12/2018 15:26

Tea and coffee, milk (and cream? and sugar?)
Squirty cream for hot choc before the marshmallows?

Gravy - although someone else said that

Herbs?

Part baked bread?

I've ordered an online shop for 15th, and another for Thursday 20th. That will have most of what I need, except the turkey (as I like to choose that from the shelf myself). It means I should be able to mostly avoid the shops all over the weekend - but gives me scope to get there in plenty of time if something is not available or too short a date (eg cream) or we run out of milk....

Most things though should be fine bought on 21st - I usually shop once a week and things last from Saturday until at least Wednesday very happily. I'd at least be inclined to try and get the bulk of things earlier than later - I did bag packing for charity last year on Christmas Eve and it was, not just bedlam but calamitous!! You couldn't even get to the shelves on most aisles as the checkout queues stretched all the way to the back of the store with every till open from before 7am!!

TroysMammy · 05/12/2018 15:29

Butter for bread/rolls

whoamitojudge · 05/12/2018 16:41

Bin bags, cling film. foil, dishwasher tablets/washing up liquid, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls

RhythmNBooze · 05/12/2018 16:47

Stuff for nice breakfast. We're having frozen pastries that you heat up in the oven, fresh fruit salad with yoghurt and sour dough bread with spreads.

LordPickle · 05/12/2018 16:47

I've just screenshot your list to make my life easier. Cheers OP Grin

Lovemusic33 · 05/12/2018 19:32

My shopping is being delivered on the 22nd, hopefully it will last as the week, my list is similar to yours but less meat as there’s only 3 of us and dd1 is vegetarian, more cheese on my list and more fruit. Dd2 made me add mince pies to the list.

Alicatz66 · 05/12/2018 19:56

Message from the fruit ... " Don't bother buying us ... we will go in the recycling whilst watching you munching through the cheese and chocolate"

BudgieMustTryHarder · 05/12/2018 19:59

Twiglets absolutely essential

MadameJosephine · 05/12/2018 20:05

Pickled onions! You can’t have drinks and nibbles without pickled onions

SpeckledyHen · 05/12/2018 20:11

Nuts and dates
