Personally I do a few small things from Santa and main presents from me/us. It’s stops other less fortunate children feeling inferior x

KipperTheFrog · 01/12/2018 00:03

Stocking from santa. All other presents from us/whoever bought them.

SunnyintheSun · 01/12/2018 00:07

Same as Kipper - Stocking from santa. All other presents from us/whoever bought them.

moredoll · 01/12/2018 00:09

Stocking and one present under the tree are from Santa. The rest are from the people who gave them. We'll give another gift like a book and a game.

ChristmasIsMyFavourite · 01/12/2018 00:11

Santa brings a couple token gifts- chocolates, a book and some small gift like a school item. We give a gift or two that we leave under the tree.

1stTimeMama · 01/12/2018 00:13

Father Christmas brings everything here, from stocking to main presents. The whole shebang!

Santa is a postman. The gifts are from whoever bought them, but are sent to Santa or made by him on our behalf, and delivered by him. DH used to be a postman, so the concept was a natural extension. DS is an adult now, but has never felt cheated that we did it this way.

Needlemaker · 01/12/2018 00:15

At 4 and 2 my kids know we buy all the toys which explains why some people have more or less, their cousins have thousands spent on them, as Santa can't possibly make that many gifts but that they get sent to Santa who adds the Christmas magic and brings them down the chimney that night it also means if I spot a good deal I can get it while their with me

YourMilkshakeIsBetterThanMine · 01/12/2018 00:16

Santa brings everything in our house. A big stocking plus a pile downstairs. It was the same when DH and I were children. The big man gets all the credit.

FanSpamTastic · 01/12/2018 00:20

Santa has always brought the stocking and one special gift - not the big present but something they really wanted. Was easy when they used to write lists and stick them up the chimney.

3in4years · 01/12/2018 02:03

It's hard when 2 traditions collide.
I grew up with everything from Santa and it was magical. We couldn't believe how generous he was! We never compared what anyone else had or asked about presents from parents.
By the time logistics are questioned kids stop believing anyway.
But dh wants us to give some presents.

RandomUsernameHere · 01/12/2018 02:22

So interesting to read how others do it! I'm doing stockings plus one big present (the one they asked for in their letters to Santa) from Santa and everything else from us. Things from other people are from whoever gave them.

WhoTookTheChristmasCookie · 01/12/2018 02:33

Everything is from Father Christmas here.
Much easier that way!

MrsTerryPratcett · 01/12/2018 02:45

We never compared what anyone else had or asked about presents from parents.

DD asked yesterday because we donated books so children could have a better Christmas. As a result DD wants to know why Santa doesn't bring the same to everyone. I'm telling her after Christmas. She's ready.

plaidlife · 01/12/2018 02:51

Stocking only here and maybe a few bits that won't fit in.
They are ten and really know now. But no stocking put out, no filled stocking. I think I am being humored by them.

snitzelvoncrumb · 01/12/2018 02:54

Mrsterry this is why Santa only gives a couple of small things to my kids. My daughter has asked similar questions, and why some kids get a trampoline and others nothing. I have said Santa only brings a little gift for each child as there are so many children. Some parents like to tell their kids that all the presents are from santa, but they aren't actually from santa, only one of the small gifts. And she knows it's a secret and must never tell them!
I don't know if that explanation might get you a bit more time?

NameChangeToAvoidBeingFound · 01/12/2018 03:09

Santa always brought all of my presents. My parents logic was that if Santa was bringing all of the big and exciting toys once a year it would be easier for us to understand that Mummy and Daddy don't have a lot of money for toys and presents throughout the year. Which makes sense, not sure if I'll do it that way though because I'd have to merge my DP traditions and what he wants as well.

Blankiefan · 01/12/2018 07:03

Decent size stocking from Santa. The rest from us or grandparents/ whomever else sends.

Santa tends to include one present she really wants that I thoroughly disapprove of. Last year it was Pie Face; this year I might consider the pooing unicorn - but is it really fifty quid? If so, Santa will bring something else!

E20mom · 01/12/2018 07:06

Stocking is from santa. Everything else is from us.

liquidrevolution · 01/12/2018 07:08

Stocking and one gift DD has asked for that isnt stupid money. Rest from us and family.

I was up till 2am wrapping shoeboxes for children in refuges and I would hate for DD to think Santa only brings large gifts for some.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 01/12/2018 07:11

Stocking from Father Christmas in the morning.

Everything else under the tree from family and friends after lunch.

expatinspain · 01/12/2018 07:27

Stocking from Santa, all the other presents delivered by Santa, but from us/family.
