Just wondering how everyone else does it really.

Are all the presents from Santa or are some from you to?

Not meant to be goady, but reading how some give everything from Santa including friends/family, it explains some threads around Christmas.

Aibu to stop getting niece/nephew a gift at Christmas? Every year it's the same. I put a lot of thought into getting them something and I don't even get thanks in return. Might just chuck a fiver in a card or a donation to the donkey sanctuary.

We give one gift from us as parents, something practical but fun, last year it was dvd players for the car. Stocking and everything else is from Santa.

icclemunchy · 01/12/2018 15:35

Santa is the postman here too. People buy the gifts and send them off to santa who drops them back Xmas eve. He also brings a stocking for each of us an a gift for the family (usually a board game or similar) feels like the best of both worlds.

PodgeBod · 01/12/2018 15:36

Presents given from family/friends are never from Santa, and usually opened with the giver if we see them before Christmas

mummyof2boys30 · 01/12/2018 15:43

All presents and stocking from Santa.Everyone else gives gifts on the day and that's from them

tinselfest · 01/12/2018 15:48

Stocking and sack from FC. Presents from me and DH, and other gifts from family etc.

Bigonesmallone3 · 01/12/2018 16:10

Gifts from family and friends are gifts from family and friends surely?

treehousethunderstorm · 01/12/2018 16:17

Father Christmas brings everything we've paid for, stocking and main gifts.

Presents from family and friends under the tree are from friends and family if we're not seeing them that day or over the holiday period.

DD knows that we choose and buy gifts for friends and other family members for under their trees.

This is the same as when I was a child.

Oblomov18 · 01/12/2018 16:19

Other way round here. A chocolate gift box from Santa. All others from Dh and I. Has always been like this. I never understood the idea of giving Santa all the credit. Seems silly.

Ffsnosexallowed · 01/12/2018 16:22

Everything we buy comes from santa.

shirleyschmidt · 01/12/2018 16:28

Santa brings them all but he brings what 'we asked him to get' I.e "oh look, Nana asked him for this one for you!". There are one or two from the man himself, of course Wink

YourMilkshakeIsBetterThanMine · 01/12/2018 16:29

Just to clarify, I said upthread that Santa brings everything in our house but I meant everything WE buy so stocking upstairs and a pile downstairs. Gifts from family are opened when we see people and not necessarily on the 25th.

moredoll · 01/12/2018 17:20

@Ladygaladriel

We get the stocking and the main present which is left centre stage under the tree by Santa. As other presents arrive, either by post or from visitors, they are placed under the tree before Christmas. We give another smaller gift like a special book as it would look too suspicious if we didn't give anything and Santa might be rumbled.

Towerofjoyless · 01/12/2018 17:25

Stocking and a few presents are from Santa, a few are from us and presents from relatives etc are always from them.

Growing up, absolutely everything, including from relatives, was passed off as being from Santa. It wasn't until I had long stopped believing in him that I wondered why no presents were ever from family, including my parents!

Vitalogy · 01/12/2018 17:38

Everything from me and his dad were from Santa.

PippilottaLongstocking · 01/12/2018 17:46

Santa brings a stocking of small bits (pens, stickers, chocolate, small book, wooden animals, toy cars) and I do the want/need/wear/read thing which is from me and my partner. Then other presents are from whoever bought them (grandparents etc)

Vitalogy · 01/12/2018 17:53

I never understood the idea of giving Santa all the credit. Seems silly. You could look at it the other way, why do you want the credit.

theworldistoosmall · 01/12/2018 17:56

Why wouldn't you want those that went out and purchased gifts to be given thanks by your dc?
Wouldn't you want your dc to say thanks or whatever for gifts in the same way as they do their birthdays?

Vitalogy · 01/12/2018 17:57

I put a lot of thought into getting them something and I don't even get thanks in return. If it's truly a gift then nothing should be expected in return. I don't agree with relatives gifts coming from Santa btw.

BlueUggs · 01/12/2018 18:00

Santa delivers them but I arrange it with Santa, and most importantly, I pay Santa for the presents!!!

pinkmagic1 · 01/12/2018 18:03

Mine are too old to believe now, but Santa was the Postman, no presents from the big man himself. I, and other family members sent the presents for him to deliver on Christmas Eve.

PivotPivotPIVOTTT · 01/12/2018 18:04

Stockings are from Santa.
Santa brings the presents. My family drop all the gifts off on Christmas Eve for me to put out along with the presents from me so I always read out who they're from so she knows to thank them. She knows that we all pay for them but thinks Santa brings them.

apostropheuse · 01/12/2018 18:20

Santa brought everything in my house, i.e. the stuff parents bought on Christmas morning for me as a child, then my children and now my grandchildren. The stuff other relatives bought was given to the child in person and thanked for.

SelpMeGod · 01/12/2018 20:55

Stocking from Father Christmas has chocolate coins, socks, bits and bobs, main presents from us so that children appreciate the choosing and buying.

All presents from relatives are given to the children by the relatives so they are aware of who gives what.

My sister carried on the everything is from Father Christmas tradition we grew up with but my 5 year old said why does Aunty buy a present for me and not for her own children. I lied and said oh, some of the toys are from her and some are from Father Christmas.

EdHelpPls · 01/12/2018 21:04

Stocking from Santa, plus one requested item. Rest from whoever bought it.
