I need ideas too, I tidied dd’s room yesterday and found previous stocking presents untouched (lip balm, stationary etc..), she doesn’t wear make up so I’m a bit stumped. I don’t want to buy more tat that she doesn’t use but she gets really excited about having a stocking (she’s 14).

Sadik · 25/11/2018 16:13

So far for 16 y/o dd I've got Christmas tea (spicey herbal), rubber stamps (a bee & a dragon from Blade Rubber) & sugar mouse / dragon. I'll add fluffy socks, instant chai powder, a book to read on Christmas morning, maybe some nice soap.

CaseStudyResearch · 25/11/2018 16:17

Consumables, so snacks (chocolate, mini Haribo, savoury snacks), bath bomb or Molton Brown miniatures, Starbucks/Costa/Nando’s/Wagamama giftcards, iPhone charger and Airbuds (If they have an iPhone).

I wouldn’t stock up too much with tat, quality over quantity.

TeenagersandFurbabies · 25/11/2018 16:18

So far I have got this for my 14 (15 by Xmas) year old DD stocking
Sparkly 'C' keyring
Chocolate orange
Animal Antics calendar
Dream catcher keyring
Impulse spray
Notebook
Snow globe pen
Choc coins
Choc buttons tube
Xmas lip balm (gingerbread flavour)
Shower gel
Fluffy socks
Mini sparkly nail polish set
Sparkly nail files

lovetherisingsun · 25/11/2018 16:20

My goddaughter loves all things Japanese so I got her a load of Japanese stationery etc from etsy.

lovetherisingsun · 25/11/2018 16:20

Pens, letter sets, washi tape etc

gigglingHyena · 25/11/2018 16:21

Rechargeable batteries and a charger are going in this year.

Villanellesproudmum · 25/11/2018 16:22

VeryClumsy · 25/11/2018 16:26

My favourite stocking fillers were(/are):

Pink smarties
Tangle teezer
Stationery
Fluffy socks!
Bath bombs
Any 'smellies' - little candles etc
Keyrings
Nice rose gold iPhone charging cable
Phone case
Piece of jewellery
Fun hair scrunchies
Mini perfumes

Next do lovely small gifts - notebooks and scented candles with initials etc

AutumnCrow · 25/11/2018 16:32

I think a stocking full of actual cash might be popular, though.

TeenagersandFurbabies · 25/11/2018 16:33

They have tubes of red smarties in Asda called Rudolph's noses.

Lovemusic33 · 25/11/2018 16:34

Great ideas, just ordered some washi tape for dd2, have also bought her Blu-tac.

Daftapath · 25/11/2018 16:35

Ds' and dd's will probably include ..

Toothbrush
Mini deodorant
Mini shaving foam/dry shampoo
Other travel size toiletries
Nando's card/Starbucks card
Pants
Mini cereal pack
Chocolate
Keyring
Gloves
Mini sticky notes (dd)
Highlighter pens
Makeup (dd!)
Novelty socks
An orange

As children, we used to get a nut and an orange in there too but ds has serious nut allergy so we avoid that tradition!

Potteringon80 · 25/11/2018 20:51

For my teens (and 20 year olds).
Daughter:
Silky dressing gown
Body sprays
Wash bag
Bun kit for her hair
Ballet exercise dvd
Chocs
Footless tights for dance

For my sons (in their 20s)
Hot sauce
Shower gel
Deodorant
Hair products
Something smelly (non-expensive scent)
Chocs
Something silly to play with (game/cards)
Bottle of their favourite drink

For all 3, I’ve got them a personal charm with words about how much they mean to me.

It’s the last year that I’m doing stockings for all three of them as I’d rather put the money towards their bigger gift.

We don’t open presents until the afternoon, so their stockings have always been based on giving them something to do/watch/get busy with.

thesnailandthewhale · 25/11/2018 22:28

Given up buying tat that doesn't get touched, so this year it's all stuff that will be eaten / used /consumed in some way, so for ds (15):

Chewing gum
AA Batteries
Greggs voucher
Costa Voucher
Deodorant
Pants
Socks
Belt
Lip balm
Puncture repair kit
Magazine
Hair wax
Sweets
Keyring
Puzzle book

Ragwort · 25/11/2018 22:34

Finally decided to stop stockings now my DS is 17 & like other teenagers he has said he would prefer cash, have just bought a very few small bits, favourite cereal, school stationery, toothpaste & shower gels. I too have found all my carefully chosen ‘fun’ gifts just unopened throughout the year.
I would suggest thinking o& a ‘cut off’ date, some of my friends still do stockings for their 30+ year old children (& the children don’t bother to do stockings for the parents).

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 25/11/2018 22:35
