Balsam Hill trees

My ceilings measure 7ft 8 (236cm) I was hoping to get the tallest tree possible. Am I being silly thinking I may get away with a 7fter? Obviously I'm aware of the stand and space for a topper but have I got room? Picturing a very slight National Lampoons disaster.... Grin

Ahhh just read their website and says stand is included in the height! 7ft it could be.

Now which "species"?

I was picturing the tree they had in the Royle Family one year.

I'm sure it'll be fine.

Check the circumference at the bottom of the tree, the bigger the wider.

DisillusionedEmployee · 22/11/2018 15:40

Any ideas of the most realistic species? Nordman, Norway spruce??

I have got two, the Fraser fir is vv realistic, (I bought the alpine tree this year for another room).

DisillusionedEmployee · 22/11/2018 21:45

Yes, have seen the Fraser fir. So much choice but £££s are there any stockist apart from direct from BH?

OP posts:
theboxofdelights · 23/11/2018 07:30

They only sell directly, my first tree is nearly ten years old, looks the same as it did when new so yes, a lot of money but an investment buy.

The alpine is lit, the other one is unlit. I went for unlit to save £ on my first one.

I put warm white candle lights of the FF. £150 plus for lights is a lot of money.

SherbertLemon2011 · 23/11/2018 07:37

We love ours. 6.5' Fraser fir, very realistic, with easy plug and clear lights. Never having to wrangle with lights again makes it a joy every Christmas!!! I would highly recommend the Fraser fir

DisillusionedEmployee · 24/11/2018 10:44

Has anyone got the Nordman or the Norway Spruce?

OP posts:
SippingSipsmith · 24/11/2018 13:13

I bought 8ft Nordmann fir one last night luckily almost half price as would have been a grand!!!! I hope it's good!

DisillusionedEmployee · 25/11/2018 13:17

Oooo, when's it due to arrive? Interested to hear what you think!

OP posts:
DeepIn40 · 28/11/2018 10:36

I've plumped for the Fraser Fir instead of the Normand. I've looked at my room size, space and configuration and decided a 'full' version was a bit too, well full! Chose the FF as they don't make a Normand in the narrow style.

If you have a full version how much space do they take up? They seem huge and the narrow not so narrow. My front room is quite big but it would not comfortably fit a full tree for an entire month!

Excitedly waiting for its delivery Grin

Bipbopbee · 28/11/2018 10:38

We have a 6ft Norway Spruce. It is absolutely gorgeous! So happy with it

DeepIn40 · 28/11/2018 11:15

Bopbopbee Did you go for a full version?

To be honest it was quite difficult choosing a species Wink I think I would have gone for a Normand if it had come in the narrow style but they all look lovely.

DeepIn40 · 28/11/2018 11:22

Bipbopbee even!

user187656748 · 28/11/2018 11:26

Are any of them ok for outdoor use? We generally buy small potted trees for the door step but they never last even though I plant them after Christmas. I was wondering about buying a couple of the small pre lit ones and using them outside?

user187656748 · 28/11/2018 12:19

Anyone have a coupon code? I am finally pressing the buy button

Bipbopbee · 28/11/2018 14:53

Hi Smile Yes we went for the full version unlit one, as we have a nice set of lights already.
It’s just the right size for our room without being too narrow either.
I’m sure you will love yours; I’ve had a quick look at the Fraser Fir and it looks beautiful!
We also got some scented tree stick things to make it smell lovely, and last year DD and I made dried orange slices with cinnamon sticks to hang on it.

user187656748 · 28/11/2018 17:04

I bought two of the potted trees for outdoors this afternoon. Quite excited for them to arrive.

Bipbopbee · 28/11/2018 17:41

Ooh user they look gorgeous!
I’ve done the same re real trees, they just turn brown really quickly.

I think we should all post pics when they are decorated Grin

DeepIn40 · 28/11/2018 20:48

User187656748, did you buy? Which one did you go for?

SippingSipsmith · 29/11/2018 06:51

Mines arrived! No time to put up until Saturday though. Hope it fits ok!

littlebillie · 29/11/2018 06:59

They are so good and better than any other we have bought

user187656748 · 29/11/2018 07:03

I bought two of these - 5 foot pre lit for either side of the front doorstep. There aren't many that are suitable for outdoor use but these ones are fine.
