Our plan is Saturday 1st December.... but for some reason I feel SO festive now...I’ll hold out until 1st though as by NYE I’ll be ready to take it all down and start a new year will a fresh empty house!

Either 2nd or 9th December depending on weekend plans.

Santaispolishinghissleigh · 13/11/2018 20:31

Def 1st. Local council have put the annual leaning tree of - my area - up already!
What an eyesore!
I kid you not, last year they put coloured lights on it - 1 resident complained - so they sent the men out to swop them for blue ones!!
(written about on local website page)
And councils are hard up!!

Angelkd · 13/11/2018 20:33

1st of dec if i can hold out until then ,cant wait x

1stTimeMama · 13/11/2018 20:36

I usually do it on the 1st December, but my husband is away until the 15th, and before he left, I, not in all seriousness, asked him if he wants me to wait for him....and he said yes! Aaarrrgggh!

15th December

But garland over the fire and Xmas ornaments and candles etc 1st dec

WipsGlitter · 13/11/2018 21:06

As late as I can get away with!! I hate how Christmas lasts for two months now. It takes the magic away.

BertramKibbler · 13/11/2018 21:07

It’ll be mid December

crispsahoy · 13/11/2018 21:10

I always say 1st Sunday of the month, usually end up being earlier though.
I'm really going to try to hold out but I'm very excited this year.

GreyGardens88 · 13/11/2018 21:14

Definitely the 1st. I'm in a studio flat so bough a 3ft silver tree with multicouloured lights. Just need to get some decorations for it.
I like either super elegant or super tacky, no inbetween!

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 13/11/2018 21:14

Mid November here, it takes me ages to get all the decs up and the kitchen is too dark after the clocks change until the fairy lights go on. My ex used to make me wait till 1st December and since I kicked him out I take real pleasure in putting stuff up too early. Plus my 3 year old likes it, so there.

Lazybonita · 13/11/2018 21:26

I would like to put it up on the 1st of December but we will be having a real tree this year, do you guys think a fresh cut tree will survive a month in a fairly warm house?

PumpkinPie2016 · 13/11/2018 21:42

8th Dec - DS is at a drama rehearsal so will be able to get it up without him attempting to 'help' (he's 5!)

Our tree is artificial so no chance of it dying off!

Santaispolishinghissleigh · 14/11/2018 15:21

Council were out at 8am to straighten the tree!! Wonder how many more times before Christmas?

WheelchairWoes · 14/11/2018 15:24

Tomorrow lol

Isadora2007 · 14/11/2018 15:26

1st. Though I may sneak a few bits and bobs out the week before that... glasses, mugs etc.

bringbackthestripes · 14/11/2018 15:28

14th December & will take it down 5th January

Lazybonita as long as you keep it in a pot / bucket and keep the water topped up it should do. In a stand with no option to water it I wouldn’t think so.

Doghorsechicken · 14/11/2018 15:32

I normally do it all on 30th November but I really can’t wait this year so it may have to be earlier! I love the fairy lights it’s so homely & cosy.

stridesy · 14/11/2018 16:37

Depends on oh day off and when we get the tree but probably early Dec. Someone on my road has theirs up already.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/11/2018 17:43

Our tree goes up on the 24th of December and it stays up until Epiphany - when I was a child we kept the tree - or what was left of it - up until Candlemass.

bumblebee39 · 14/11/2018 17:45

When I get round to buying one! Lol!

CoperCabana · 14/11/2018 17:46

I think mine’s going up next weekend as we are not around the following two weekends. It’s a (posh) fake so no worries about it wilting.

KristinaM · 14/11/2018 17:50

No sorry, I don’t think it will. If you want a real one you probably have to wait until about 10 December to bring it indoors . And keep it well watered .

CoperCabana · 14/11/2018 17:55

This is why I switched to fake. Real trees would be decidedly droopy by Christmas Day if they went up on 1st. It’s a nice Balsam Hill one. Really pleased with it.

Momasita · 14/11/2018 17:58

I try and hold out for at least second week in December.

Fishcakey · 14/11/2018 17:58

1st December. I would happily do it now but OH would have a fit!
