Sorry if there is already a thread about this, I couldn't see one.

We've made almost 2 L of flavoured gin. Will also get in some port (my favourite drink) and have almost finished the Baileys we bought last Christmas so I'd like to get another bottle. DP has passed comment (lighthearted) about am I planning on being sloshed for the whole festive period as there is just the two of us drinking and that's a lot of alcohol (according to him). It's not really is it?? I also wasn't planning on drinking all of it but wanted some variety.

What alcohol are you getting in for the festive period?

The usuals Prosecco, vodka, some sort of fruity liqueur and all the gin!
Neither of us big wine drinkers and we don't like Bailieys so mainly spirts and some beer for him too

Wobblington · 12/11/2018 20:11

On top of the usual prosecco etc I shall be stocking up on Amaretto and if I can find it diet-vanilla coke (tescos own brand was missing last time I checked) the limencello will come out of the freezer and Bailey's + hot chocolate is my December evening drink - am on about a 50:50 mix by Xmas Eve by which time I'm sick of it and I won't touch it again until December next yearGrin

We sound like a household of lushes, we've some posh wine for Christmas and Boxing Day A she'd load of beers & cider and we've bought port and Bailey's and we're in the proceess of making flavoured vodkas. We're a household of 3 adults with 2 more at some point over the holiday.

In our defence ( of sorts) Christmas will start a few days early and will go on til 12 th night., We'll probably still be drinking it in June.

buckeejit · 12/11/2018 20:58

I bought 17 bottles of taste the difference wine on Sainsbury double up today! Have plenty of everything else, just some bubbles for NYE as we're away for Christmas 🍾😃💃

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/11/2018 21:35

Whisky and beer ( Belgian Blond Wheat Beer) for DH
Maybe Kopperberg or Toffee Apple Cider for DS (if he wants it , there's some Kopperberg in the fridge still)
Baileys for DD (small bottle)
Nought for me , I don't drink .

Serin · 12/11/2018 23:03

A nice Islay malt for DH and I,
sloe gin for DD,
Guinness and corona for DS's.
Few bottles of Asti for my mum.

BiddyPop · 13/11/2018 09:28

I've got a nice bottle of Cremant (French bubbles from a different region to Champagne region - lovely!) and 2 nice bottles of Chardonnay for Christmas Dinner, and a half bottle of dessert wine that we never opened last year. (Just DH and I - we won't drink ALL of that, but we might feel like a glass more of the wine so a second to open is nice to have, or we might have a glass of port with cheese, or I might actually open dessert wine with pudding - or we might just drink the cremant and stop).

For visitors (we have people dropping in generally, and a gathering on 26th), I generally serve mulled wine (made with merlot usually) so I need to get some red for that - about 6-10 bottles but any leftovers will be used up gradually.
I have 4 bottles of Rioja for cold pouring.
I will get some white for cold pouring, and I have 4 bottles of Lidl's prosecco which is very nice.
I will also need to get some beer, something like Miller and also some Belgian beer, and a 6 pack of Guinness.

DH likes craft beers, so I like to get maybe 6 different bottles of seasonal beers (Winter and Christmas lagers and ales).

Our drinks cabinet is relatively well stocked anyway, so I have gin, brandy, port, whiskey, sherry etc. They all (well, except the gin) take years to use up, but there are various visitors who like each.

I need more mixers. And I want a bottle of amaretti, as I like the odd glass of that at Christmas (the last bottle lasted me 6 years). We finished our last bottle of Baileys last Christmas, but I might get a Coole Swan instead, or not bother at all.

rackhampearl · 13/11/2018 09:34

Ordinarily it would be lots of Red wine, Mead and Prosecco but this year absolutely nothing. I gave up 2 months ago. We don't really have guests and DH doesn't drink so will be my first alcohol free Xmas. God help me.

Spam88 · 13/11/2018 10:01

I've had two dry christmasses due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, so pretty much planning to buy and drink all the alcohol.

Babybearsporij · 13/11/2018 10:26

We already have whiskey for DH, gin, martini bianco, champagne and amaretto in the house. Will be buying Baileys, beers and wine nearer the time. I quite fancy advocaat, but I'll be the only one drinking it. I wonder if you can get small bottles?

Also need to stock up on mixers.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/11/2018 18:13

Spam, I was like that as I was pregnant two Christmases running.

I had all the pate and all the booze on the third year! 😂

I'm getting some:

Moscato
White wine (sauv blanc and Gewürztraminer)
A Malbec for DH
Cranberry and clementine Buck's Fizz
Beers and
Kopperberg / Bulmers / Smirnoff fruit cider.

Arnoldthecat · 13/11/2018 18:26

None..

MrsCar · 13/11/2018 19:14

My usual white wine
Prosecco
Mulled wine
Baileys
Merlot
Cider for dh

GreenEggsHamandChips · 13/11/2018 19:16

Some guiness. port (if there isnt still some left over from last year.

Lots of bottles of schloer. None of my lot drink much anymore

PoesyCherish · 13/11/2018 19:19

@GreenEggsHamandChips how do you have Port left over?? I can't imagine having any left after a week let alone a year! Mind you that's mostly because DP would've drank it by now (It's his fave drink too).

GreenEggsHamandChips · 13/11/2018 19:32

DD might have a glass. DP might have a couple with cheesy biscuits, I probably will have one. We only have cheesy biscuits a couple of times since I lost loads of weight. So 5-6 small glasses over the Christmas period.

My mum has a glass of anything and it sends her to sleep, my DSis is usually driving. Other family members are tea total out of choice. I'd rather eat than drink my calories this days and DS has SN which tends to mean keeping a reasonably clear head is a good idea. so all in all that leaves DP and DD drinking the odd glass of red wine or guiness. We get through more tea bags than alcohol!!

GreenEggsHamandChips · 13/11/2018 19:35

DD= Ddad!!! My DD will mot be drinkingBlush

recklessgran · 13/11/2018 21:33

Prosecco, Prosecco. Prosecco lots of.
Baileys, Vodka, Jack Daniels, Southern Comfort.
That should be us sorted.

MintyCedric · 13/11/2018 23:38

I've already stashed 3 bottles of Gluhwein from Lidl in the hopes it'll be more like the gorgeous stuff we had at the Christmas markets in Vienna last year than the usual supermarket mulled wine.

Have kept a bottle of prosecco and have small bottles of spirits leftover from my birthday.

Will get some premixed cans of pink gin and a couple of bottles each of shiraz and NZ sauv blanc and may get a bottle of real champagne as a special treat as it's our first Christmas in our own home for 3 years following my divorce and having to move in with my parents for 18 months, so it's a bit special.

Tiggles · 13/11/2018 23:49

Baileys and Kings Ginger

mrpoopybutthole · 14/11/2018 05:51

Around now we usually get:
Red wine to go with cheese boards
Prosseco (couple of bottles for Xmas day)
Tia Maria for me to have a little tipple with Diet Coke in the evenings, as it's my favourite drink but I only drink it this time of year.
Wine for Xmas day & for guests on other nights
Mulled wine for Xmas movie night, present wrapping, any other festive activities like wreath making
Fancy craft ales for him for Xmas week
Currently making sloe gin for first time for presents

We do have a few drinks most nights over Xmas week & will have guests over on Xmas day & a few other nights

HotdogsareDogs · 14/11/2018 05:58

A bottle of white burgundy to split over Xmas day and boxing day. That's it.

I barely drink, I've dusty bottles of all sorts of festive plonk but I never get round to them so this year I'm being realistic. I've only had about two drinks since the beginning of August Blush, I'm a teabelly rather than a drinker

Outfoxed · 14/11/2018 06:01

Glögg and beer. Acquiring booze in Sweden is more of a military mission than a jaunt to the store so we keep it simple.

namechangedyetagain · 14/11/2018 06:18

Currently have stashed away - baileys, pink gin, violet gin, gingerbread gin, making sloe gin, a bottle of sauv blanc (were 3 but 2 didn't quite make it), as well as the usual gin rack and wine shelf in the fridge. Also have coke and shloer in case we don't feel like drinking (unlikely). Still need to order cider, port for cheese and fizz for Xmas day.

I am dreading christmas this year so as soon as I finish work im fully intending to drink my way through the holidays Sad

LiquoricePickle · 14/11/2018 06:19

I'm pregnant and breastfeeding, do none for me this year, although I already have stout got my Christmas pudding, brandy got the mincemeat and brandy butter and a bottle of whisky for DH. I usually make Christmas pudding vodka too. I also make copious amounts of mulled wine and so I'll try and make a non alcoholic version for me!
