Sorry if there is already a thread about this, I couldn't see one.

We've made almost 2 L of flavoured gin. Will also get in some port (my favourite drink) and have almost finished the Baileys we bought last Christmas so I'd like to get another bottle. DP has passed comment (lighthearted) about am I planning on being sloshed for the whole festive period as there is just the two of us drinking and that's a lot of alcohol (according to him). It's not really is it?? I also wasn't planning on drinking all of it but wanted some variety.

What alcohol are you getting in for the festive period?

I bought two bottle of Taittinger champagne from Asda yesterday as it's £25. Normally it is £32-34. I will keep an eye out for other supermarkets doing similar deals.

Not buying anything special as it is just the 2 of us and I am not eating at home at all 25th to 28th.
But we always have lots of wine, champagne and beers in generally plus 12 different gins.

Wow you allget a lot in!! but i guess you are all hosting?

We have beer in the fridge and that is all. We rarely drink so save on buying booze.

None.
I still have a can of cider in the fridge from 3 Christmasses ago.

Every year my mum insists on refilling the drink cupboard, so by Xmas day it will have the following-
Smirnoff vodka
Jack Daniels
Southern comfort
Disserano
Malibu
Port
Martini
Other whiskey
Gin
Wkd
Budweiser
Lots of wine
Champagne
Prossecco
Loads of mixers.

In our house, there will be 2 for Christmas Day.

But we have visitors on Boxing Day, likelihood of visitors on other days, and it's one of the few times in the year that we actually get to slow down, so we get a chance to enjoy a glass of port some evenings (with or without cheese), or a French Coffee after dinner, etc.

Christmas Day, we don't open alcohol until after all the visits are done, so earliest is about 2 (and usually closer to 4pm).

We do drink wine with dinner a fair amount. But often the cap goes back on the bottle at the end of the night with enough left for the following day(s).

And we don't even try to finish things off "because it's Christmas" - the drinks cabinet is there all year round and we will make use of everything we buy in due course - but it's nice to have enough there for any visitors that do arrive, or any particular mood that takes us to decide to have something we do enjoy but only rarely actually have/drink.

But we live on a sociable street as well - so there will be a number of gatherings of the neighbours over the holiday season, where we'll each bring a bottle and a plate, and all just enjoy the company. And often they are spontaneous enough gatherings (the first snow meaning we have a BBQ on the Green, for example Xmas Grin ) so having some supplies on hand is helpful for those.
