Me and DH want to start our own tradition for breakfast, but we need some inspiration! So, hit me with your ideas for christmas day breakfast.

Breakfast pasty. Pastry (we get ready rolled shortcrust) with egg, bacon, baked beans etc in it; then all sealed up and baked. Can cook meat first to be on safe side/ do veggie options etc. Love it.

Croissants and coffee for early morning present opening. Bacon sandwiches and bucks fizz for brunch! Can't wait 😁 especially as I was heavily pregnant last year so didn't indulge.

Smoked Haddock Welsh rarebit on thick slabs of white bloomer bread with roasted tomatoes on the side. Hmmmmmm super delicious

One year we bought some fancy black bacon when picking the Christmas meat up from the butcher. Twas lush.

So now we have Christmas bacon rolls until the sad day the packet runs out Sad

Figmentofimagination · 06/11/2018 22:42

Bacon butties and Buck's Fizz. Or pancakes.

SummersB · 06/11/2018 22:43

I forgot, with poached eggs on the side. My mouth is watering now!!

PurpleDaisies · 06/11/2018 22:48

Why does everything related to Christmas always have to be a tradition now? Confused

We usually have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on posh toast.

tigercub50 · 06/11/2018 22:51

As a child I had pork pie & a mug of milk for breakfast on Christmas Day. Now I tend to have a smoked salmon & cream cheese bagel or we have pastries warmed in the oven

justforareply · 06/11/2018 22:52

Mine pies
Nigellas Christmas muffins (I use orange peel and juice rather than satsumas or whatever she suggests)
Baileys or champagne

firefire · 06/11/2018 22:55

A pork pie! I'm going to serve up pork pies instead of the usual Christmas tree shaped crumpets and see if anyone comments 😁

anniehm · 06/11/2018 22:57

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs is my favourite but last year did sourdough bread, buttered spinach, poached egg, cream cheese and smoked salmon - different members of the family had the elements they like (one veggie, one hates egg!) this year have a house full so homemade bagels I suspect will be ordered, my brothers favourite

namechange5575 · 06/11/2018 23:19

Kedgeree it's delish 😋

jocktamsonsbairn · 07/11/2018 07:16

When I was growing up ddad used to be sent outside to bbq a Christmas fry up breakfast - I think it was to get him out of the way and to keep the kitchen clutter free for the important job of getting turkey and trimmings sorted! If it was raining he used to put the bbq under the overhang of the garage door! It was fab though!
Now we do rolls with any combo from bacon, square slice, black pudding, eggs, tattie scones etc. Although dad and ds usually start the day with sweets from their haul!

We always have croissants and smoked salmon with champagne for those who want it or coffee/hot chocolate for those that don't :)

French Toast bake.
You prep it the night before. Done in a lasagna tray.

averythinline · 07/11/2018 07:31

we usually choc croissants /juice then bacon rolls later..
was thinking of trying the pastry/nutella christmas tree but am thinking maybe too much faff..

Pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. Yummo.

namechangedbutneedadvice · 07/11/2018 07:40

Crumpets and tea. Always crumpets and tea Grin with presents. Can never manage a big breakfast before the massive Christmas lunch.

lecossaise · 07/11/2018 07:44

I make overnight cinnamon rolls (as in they proof overnight, you pop them in the oven in the morning).

QueenOfMyWorld · 07/11/2018 07:44

Smoked salmon and cream cheese in toasted sesame seed bagels

joystir59 · 07/11/2018 07:47

Used to have deli stuff, now just normal toast

Bimmy76 · 07/11/2018 07:54

Boiled egg and soldiers. I couldn’t eat a huge breakfast on Christmas Day.
