Cream cheese and bacon bagels, and Buck’s Fizz

Grumpbum123 · 07/11/2018 09:22

The last 2 years we’ve have the Nutella Xmas tree someone posted earlier I prepare the night before then bung it in the oven in the morning. Buck’s Fizz for the adults and the children have hot chocolate

My brother in law who is vegan usually stays with us on Christmas Eve so I make a vegan breakfast that everyone now loves.
Jusroll pain au chocolate, croissants and cinnamon whirls,
Homemade granola with dried figs and maple syrup,
Yogurt dairy/ non dairy
Homemade cranberry compote sauce which I heat up

It actually probably one of my favourite things I eat over Xmas.

We also have panatone warmed with jam.

We tend to have lunch about 1.30 so breakfast is fruit salad, yogurt, croissants, posh juice/coffee, granola/muesli.

Smoked salmon nibbles and champagne about 11am with presents.

Traditional lunch with starter goes on until about 3pm always too full to eat pudding so that happens about 6pm.

It has to be a cup of tea and some chocolates.

Pob13 · 07/11/2018 09:48

Wow, some great ideas. Im liking the idea of some sort of pastry. I dont think we want something massive.

Gin! Grin

Turn on the oven and either make JusRol pain au chocolat’s (rolled out of the tub in the fridge) or M&S pastries (I like pain au raisin, dd prefers pain au choc, so we’ll take whatever is in their freezer) to cook straight from the freezer.

Freshly squeezed juice (grapefruit for me and dh, orange for dd).

A cafetiere if fresh coffee.

Maybe if dh is feeling energetic, there might be pancakes with berries, or we might just have berries on their own (I might add yoghurt to mine).

Some years, we get naice bread and make bacon butties. But we’ll have a couple of nibbles around 1 pm at 1 house and not have dinner until 5 or later.

Obviously you need a test run of all these delicious pastries...
You can risk Christmas Day bring ruined by a bad breakfast!

Bacon butties . Proper crusty bread and butter.
Well be 30wk pregnant this year and am off 🥓 😭😭😭 so going to go and get frozen cinnamon rolls/croissants to warm up instead

Pork pie and champagne

VillersBretonneux · 07/11/2018 10:33

Orange, I have heard of pork pie as a Christmas breakfast before. Do you get a particular make?

OrangeOrBlackcurrant · 07/11/2018 11:54

Villiers We get a large one from a nearby butchers and it is made on site with local produce. We sometimes never have the leftovers on Boxing Day.
Think pork pie on Christmas Day is a Midlands thing. I love it!

VillersBretonneux · 07/11/2018 11:55

I think I'd love it too!
