Ds has just started high school really has no idea what he wants .

What are your 11 year olds asking for or are you buying?

Games for ps4

LtGreggs · 25/10/2018 21:22

Mine wants an xbox game, drone with a camera, badminton set & socks.

I think the drone will disappoint - he's had cheapie indoor ones before which were fun but not long-lasting. I think he thinks he's going to graduate to professional league 😁

StepMug · 25/10/2018 21:45

11 year old DSS wants a VR headset, but not the PS4 one. Or a laptop. Will probably go with the laptop as despite endless research, I can’t seem to get my head round which is for what!

LeMesmer · 26/10/2018 01:22

Mine is 13, so not much older. A go pro camera cheap version ( he knows go pro are too expensive), a retro Atari games console. He asks for things every day😊. He will have the camera and games console, other stuff related to his interests (mainly making films - a great present if your DS would like it is a film kit such as Zu3d). Other stuff is books - novels he will like, Guinness book of records, a scientific examination of Bigfoot ( things he is interested in). Rare LEGO set ‘Women of NASA ‘. His birthday is in March so I have to think about that as well, birthday present could be a drone or table football if we have moved house by then and have the room. 11 to 16 I think are the worst age to buy for.

Starlight345 · 26/10/2018 08:00

Thank you . He wants new console but just started high school . I think his friendship group will move so he currently wants x box one however I think he will possibly want PS4 so waiting till next year. He has x box 360 but due to wanting an upgrade don’t particularly want to play games.
Drones told him we are done with that .
Books he will get . They are the easy present.

I agree such a hard age

My DS is 12. Ideas from last year and this year include

Blue tooth headphones
Magazine subscription
Young drivers lesson (a big hit)
Fudge hamper
Infinity light
Games for his console
Gig tickets
Trainers / clothes
Travel mug

SagelyNodding · 26/10/2018 13:00

Bluetooth headphones with microphone for gaming (supervised!)
Mine loves toasties so I bought him a waffle iron/sandwich toaster/panini grill thing
A decent watch
.... I have no idea what else, and his birthday is just before! I will be watching for ideas.

SagelyNodding · 26/10/2018 13:01

Ooo and a green screen for making videos

Starlight345 · 26/10/2018 13:13

Oooh green screen my Ds would like that.

JDSTER · 27/10/2018 10:11

@Monr0e where did you get fudge hamper from please? I think my DS would love one.

1122christy · 27/10/2018 10:31

Mine will be 11 in Feb and high school next year. He wants a bigger tv, Xbox game. Telescope.
I'm gng to make up a hamper which I do every year and I put American sweets, and just different types of sweets/gums/mints/can of juice plus a magazine in. And this year I will give him a magazine subscription- Simpson's comic one I think or a gaming one.
Also got knex rollercoaster, and nerf elite gun.
Have asked family for different board games I know he will enjoy - Star Wars risk, Harry Potter cluedo.
Is there a specific tv/film/character he likes and you could get him a funko pop vinyl of it? So can play with it if he wants but also cool enough to be used as decoration on shelves. Fortnite have ones out.

1122christy · 27/10/2018 10:37

Oh I'm also getting him an echo dot for his room which I know he will like. We already have a family Spotify subscription and I think I'm gng to get him some audio books to listen to aswell.

BentNeckLady · 27/10/2018 12:11

I’m completely stumped for my 10 year old this year. We already have all the games consoles/games a family could possibly need. He doesn’t ride the bike he’s already got. He doesn’t like sports 😬

So far I have got him a couple of airfix kits which I think he’ll enjoy doing and a new pair of trainers.

I don’t want any more screen activities.

Bunnybigears · 27/10/2018 12:15

My 11 year old is getting:
Fake grass rug for his room
Clothes mostly Adidas and Under Armour
A rebound net for practising his cricket
Diary of a wimpy kid books
Tickets for an ice hockey game

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 27/10/2018 13:01

Guitar, echo dot, green screen with tripod for phone and clapper board (loves making movies) here (for 10 year old).

Monr0e · 27/10/2018 13:43

@JDSTER it is this company

www.funkyhampers.com/browse/product/funkyfudgebox/funky-fudge-box.html?merchant=froogle&gclid=CjwKCAjwmdDeBRA8EiwAXlarFoL5EfLNdxhnDjS2D12Nyrvt0uyp4BqluLe1y7z3bKCyUGJXPrUbTBoC2YIQAvD_BwE

Hope the link comes up ok! If not just Google funky hampers fudge, you can build your own and choose from lots of different flavours.
They do lots of other hampers to, worth a look.

JDSTER · 27/10/2018 15:02

Thanks Monr0e

alfiesmam · 27/10/2018 15:05

Place marking .

DS1 is 12 he wants call of duty

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/10/2018 15:25

Eek @alfiesmam how are you handling that one? Some of DS's friends play it but it's a hard no from me. I checked commonsense media and I think I'm prepared to allow Spider-Man despite it being a 16 as long as DH or I are in the room when he plays it. It doesn't help that DanTDM plays it.

DS is getting a couple of PS games.
A book by some youtubers that he likes. A Fortnite funko pop. A onesie. A llama. A novelty power bank. Some of his favourite sweets. Some Star Wars add ons for his lightsaber kits.

alfiesmam · 27/10/2018 17:00

@thewoollybackswife - not sure there is an option to turn off blood & bad language apparently. He plays Fortnite at the moment .

PlayingForKittens · 27/10/2018 17:25

Watching for ideas. My 11 year old turns 12 in Jan and is very difficult to buy for. All he really wants is the Lego Aston Martin which he is getting from uncle and gran who are clubbing together.

For his 11th I got him a Sonos speaker for his room which went down well and is used daily. He got a few books, audio books etc.

I am a bit lost this year. We don't have games consoles and I'm not spending that much on a present. He isn't into personal hygiene and hair yet so can't really pad out with lynx and hair wax. He doesn't care about clothes at all and is very fussy so anything I buy without input is likely to stay unworn.

I'm thinking of getting him a flying lesson but apart from that I don't know. And then of course there is the January birthday. Argh!

Starlight345 · 27/10/2018 18:08

I have just ordered Ds a personalised camping mug.

He is a scout and loses a lot of things so that is my first purchase.

OP posts:
Growingboys · 27/10/2018 21:22

Following for ideas.

So far I've got:
Graphic novel (HG Wells)
Disco lights that float in the bath (he loves baths)

Main present will be iphone
Also thinking maybe a duvet cover - or I'll get eg grandparents to do that
also Guinness Book of Records
Beano Annual

BeaLola · 28/10/2018 09:42

I am stumped so watching for ideas - have Birthday and christmas in same month !

Small things bought - Guiness Book of World Records, a Boden onesie, Harry Potter slippers from Primark and will get a Football annual.
He has asked for new lynx spray. Thinking of echo if I can work out what it is/ whether he will use it.

Genuine q - for those of you with PlayStation or Xbox how long each day or week do your chores soend on it. DS is only child and really wants one but DH is dead against it as thinking he will want to be on it all time, and even withfirm boundaries will be cause of arguments about usage. I'm in the middle as Hevesy really wants one.

BeaLola · 28/10/2018 09:43

Oops - was supposed to say child/children spend on it
