Board games that are a bit different.

I want to buy my DC (9 and 13) another board game. We have a few that they really enjoy and there are others that have been binned or passed on as they didn't capture their interest.

I just came across this link which is quite interesting and was wondering if anyone had come across some of these games and had any feedback.

All brilliant suggestions. I have been bashing the keyboard and reading reviews and based on my DC and heir personalities I have decided to go for:

  1. Ticket to Ride
  2. Pandemic

Just to check, I want the Ticket to Ride European game right?

Oh, the excitement.

Takenoko is another good one

Ticket to ride, takenoko, exploding kittens, carcasonne, fluxx, ascension or dominion (very similar games), forbidden island or forbidden desert, small world, tsuro.

We’re really into board games in our house, those are the ones we have that I think would suit that age range.

Has anyone mentioned Mysterium? It's brilliant. We all (me, DH, DD9 and DS11) really enjoy it.

Also second Ticket to Ride, Dixit, Pandemic.

Hoping to get Takenoko for Christmas...

Yes get the Europe Ticket to ride.

I've just ordered Ticket to Ride Europe and Pandemic.
Looking forward to playing them Grin
You lot are brilliant. Thanks for all the recommendations.

I am nearly done for my DC now. They haven't selected a main present yet but I am there with the other bits - chocolates, books and board games. I am not going to go OTT this year.

Haven't RTWT but recommend Qwerkle. You don't have to be able to read!
