Mummy's stocking

Been working hard on my list for EVERYONE as I do Christmas SO much better than DH he leaves all the present picking to me Hmm

And been daydreaming in the online Christmas catalogues if mums were given stockings (I know some families have them just not ours) what would be in mine? Apart from lots of miniature bottles of gin Ginwhat would everyone else on here want in their stockings?

Tell your husband you want a stocking!!

I'm a single mum, but even I get a stocking. I live next door to my parents and my mum always sneaks one in (I caught her one year as I was still away wrapping presents!).

Dairymilkmuncher · 07/10/2018 20:51

Your mum sounds wonderful! Smilewhen my mum sneaks in its to eat my pastries and then leaves crumbs everywhere! Grin

I could ask DH to but what would he fill it with? What do you get in yours? Apart from toothbrushes and pants I fill the kids ones with absolute rubbish just sweets and biscuits, token piece of fruit and bargain small toys. I caught DH trying to put one of the kids DS games into his stocking one year because it was small....£30 is not a stocking filler it's a main present...

DH always does me a stocking.
Things like bath oil, fluffy socks, nice tea bags, chocolate, paperback book, CD, Reed diffuser/ candle. This year I think it’ll have a Cath Kidston travel wallet I dropped a hint for.
One year he got me a bell so I can ring if I need a cup of tea (joke). Another he got me a Harry Potter chocolate frog.
Stockings are fab- everyone should have one Grin
I do DH one too.

Dairymilkmuncher · 07/10/2018 20:58

Chris that sounds lovely!

I think I'm going to have to drop stocking hints I loved my advent calendars and stockings when I was little Smile

Me and DH only give each other stockings (as in, no main present!)

In the past, I've got-
little cheeses and posh crackers
nice mini jar of chutney
miniature gin
a book
a small print of one of my favourite artists
bath stuff
dvd of a film I love
nice thick socks
nice woolly hat
posh tea leaves

Fiffyshadesofgreymatter · 07/10/2018 21:03

I get mixtures of favourite scented wax melts, a new coin purse usually (I love fabrics so mum always gets me one in a nice fabric), some kind of "survive the zombie apocalypse" product like a book, new pretty pens, make up brushes, bath stuff, sweeties, sometimes vegetable seeds lol (I grow a lot) and usually sometbing random but aweome like one year there were little concrete Lego men!!!

Thatstheendofmytether · 07/10/2018 21:03

My dp gets me a mug for basically every occasion 😂 I love a new mug bit get them for Christmas, mothers day, birthday etc. I like it though lol. Bath bombs, not had one of them so He I was about 15! Nice boat lotion, chocolates, cosy socks or slippers, maybe jammies.

MsSquiz · 07/10/2018 21:06

DH and I do stockings for each other (no kids)
Mine usually contains:
Make up
Fancy bubble bath/shower gel
Chocolate orange
Mini bottle of Prosecco
Costume jewellery
Perfume

PippaRabbit · 07/10/2018 21:12

My DH always always does a stocking for me and the DC put things in. Last year was:-

Dior perfume
Fluffy socks
2 pandora charms although MN hate pandora I love them
A hair clip
Face oil
Hand cream
Foot cream
3 DGC paintings which had been reduced to charms for a bracelet I have.

BirdieInTheHand · 07/10/2018 21:22

Stockings are my favourite bit of Christmas. Things I've got over the years:

Leather credit card holder
Socks
Diptyque candle
F&M chocolates
Diary
Bath oil
Posh knickers
Books
Nail varnish
Eye shadow palettes
Leather gloves
Silver bangles
Note pads

BirdieInTheHand · 07/10/2018 21:25

DH is pretty good at picking out bits and pieces but when I shop for everyone else I sometimes pick things up for myself and squirrel them away for DH to add to my stocking.

Means I get exactly what I want 😊

Dairymilkmuncher · 07/10/2018 21:28

Teether where do you keep all the mugs?? I'm hoping this year no one gets any more sports bottles, supply cups or nubs because we have a serious lack of space for them after the last few occasions. Although I wouldn't mind some fancy gin glasses

I'm going to ask DH about us doing stocking this year for each other and I hope he does his research like your partners and mums have because they all sound wonderful and thoughtful too. Before I do say anything though I'll have a look and see if I could fill one for him without spending an absolute fortune though

My stocking is a standing joke between me, my DH and my friends as I do it myself! It's amazing, has jo malone perfume, peanut butter m&ms (my fav choc), jewellery, hair clips, bobbles (naice ones), candles, last year a key ring with the bit for the trolley on. This year it will have all of the above except the hair stuff but I've already got a golden snitch bracelet (massive Harry Potter fan) and some cashmere socks! If I left it to anyone else it either wouldn't happen or would be shite!

Dairymilkmuncher · 07/10/2018 21:45

Ranoutof wow sounds like you're a pretty good gift giver so why not!?

I would love it if I didn't say anything but Santa just knew I was thinking about it and had surprised me with one [santa]

why wouldn't you get a stocking?

ChipsnCurrySaucemmm · 07/10/2018 21:54

Lush bath melts, fancy tea, vegan Bakewell tarts from a special shop, candles for my bath and a new mug

wentmadinthecountry · 07/10/2018 21:55

My children have done stockings for dh and me since dd2 was about 13ish I think. Sometimes one between us but with mummy paper and daddy paper. We get:
Mini gin etc
Magazines
Make up/toiletries
Chocolate
Stationery
Jokey stuff

I taught my 4 well!

wentmadinthecountry · 07/10/2018 21:56

Always Hotel Chocolat Rum soaked raisins for me!!!

SleightOfMind · 07/10/2018 21:58

I’m feeling dead hard done by now!
Never had a stocking as a child and now DM, Dsis and DHs family come to us so I do everyone’s stockings!

Never really thought about it before but I’ve never had one!

Reaa · 07/10/2018 22:04

I do my own stocking, I get loads of little bits, I actually want and as I just buy wrap and label as early as possible I have normally forgotten most of what I have bought myself by Christmas Day.

Reaa · 07/10/2018 22:06

I always buy a couple of books, so I know I have a couple of books, but can't remember which ones and the same with a mini candles, can't remember which one so it's still like having a few surprises to open.

travailtotravel · 07/10/2018 22:10

I get a right old mix from my lovely DH. Bloody socks, hand cream, soap, books, joke bits.

80sMum · 07/10/2018 22:18

If I were filling a Christmas stocking for myself it would contain:
A little box of posh, artisan chocolates.
Some Clarins handcream.
2 tickets for a show.
A gold sovereign.
Leather driving gloves.
A packet of silver needles tea.

Curious2468 · 07/10/2018 22:44

I started doing my own a couple of years ago lol! Mine will have craft bits, stationary, Japanese treats, maybe fairy garden or dolls house accessories, jelly beans, amazon voucher (for guilt free kindle book shopping), bamboo socks etc
