Was about to post about a bargain and saw thread 2 is at 999, hoping to post a link to this as 1000, wish me luck!

This is awkward so this is the only time I'll say it and if people aren't bothered that's up to them.

It's a bit off to deliberately buy fake versions of things. Matt Inman who made the exploding kittens game (and the oatmeal comics) is a really nice guy, gives loads of money to charity etc.

I don't think looking for a bargain should equal fine with fakes. Its not to me. You don't know if they are safe and the original creators aren't getting the money. The people who are getting the money are likely pretty unpleasant people.

And that's the end of my soapbox, back to bargains!

Ah, I feel bad now @WhirlwindHugs. I wouldn’t have been in the market for the genuine game (over budget for me), but I do hope I haven’t influenced anyone else to buy a counterfeit version instead of the original. I shall report my post and ask MN to amend/delete it.

I've ordered the lego mini figures from Ali express I can take photos and link the seller when they arrive.

@WhirlwindHugs I'm sure he has made enough money without worrying about people buying fakes.
Some people can't afford to buy genuine.
Last Christmas I bought both DD the "fake" LOL dolls as they asked for them but i knew they wouldn't play with them enough to spend triple the price.
If anyone is to blame is the sellers not the buyers.

Sorry not Christmas related but as you are all so helpful, you might be able to give me some inspiration! DNeice turns 9 in a couple of weeks, she like gymnastics and has asked for lightweight dumbbells to build up some strength for cartwheels etc, 0.5 or 1kg. Any recommendations for these or other gymnastics bits to go with them please?

Here are a few bits my gymnasts love. The handles (parallets I think they’re called?) are used for boys gym but are also good for upper body strength. These were from Aldi but Argos or amazon will also have them. Sometimes called push-up handles. The wooden things were from eBay and you can get them personalised etc. I can’t recall what they’re called though! The scrunchie holder is a kitchen roll holder from amazon but has been a great addition for all her gymnastics sxrunchies. And the hand weights were from decathlon. Which also sells nice basic leotards and shorts suitable for a gymnast too.
If she is allowed- a door pull-up bar is an excellent strength tool too.

It does say on their Facebook page it's off of EVERYTHING so I would comment on the post and ask them why it's not working

@louise5754 There are lots of times we have not been able to afford toys (we are not a rich family by any stretch!) I look for something else that is in budget that I think they will like, I don't buy fakes.

nickdrake........ thanks so much for the sloth Smyths tip . I went to my local branch this morning and currently have several Sloths sleeping in my "present" wardrobe! My dds are sloth obsessed and I've put away two for quick birthday party presents. They really are the cutest things.

Can't remember if anyone's mentioned but M&S have the big boxes of their choc truffles at half price (£6 from £12) and half price biscuit tins - shortbread etc. Best before date on the chocs is May. They have a few different non xmassy rums on offer too as well as the gingerbread one. I may have been clinking on my way out.

No problem @WhirlwindHugs. I have just had an email from MNHQ checking that I want the post deleted, so I expect it to go poof any moment now.

I’ll be honest, I sit squarely on the fence when it comes to non-genuine items, but it was very ill judged of me to mention them here where it might divert sales away from the genuine article, and I don’t mind having that pointed out to me in the slightest.

Now back to the bargains
