@itsonlysubterfuge thank you for the aliexpress harry potter lego review - I've bought some and there was a voucher on the app that saved me a couple of pounds. I need to stop buying my DD every harry potter bargain I see (picked up some bits reduced in primark ).
I am however on the look out for super Mario merchandise if anyone sees any. Thank you

LostMyRubySlippers · 02/09/2018 09:45

coldilox there was a Bath game last year mentioned called fishing for floaters 🤢 I saw it in peacocks the other day in the sale but can’t recall how much
Also we have plop trumps which is version of top trumps with different animal poo so you could argue it is also vaguely educational!! Lol

TheOwlandMe · 02/09/2018 10:10

Finally have a bargain to add (sorry if it’s already been mentioned)...my local Sainsbury’s had the Lego Mayka tape reduces down to £2.30! I got 4 Blush ... anyone used it? Does it leave marks/stain things?

Know more a bargain than recommendation thread but I’d be grateful for any ideas for a 5yr old who loves Lego and wooden train d crafts but has enough of all those option. I got some Lego books and few rescued sets but struggling for ideas now. Similarly for a 2yr old girl who just plays with all big brothers stuff. TIA

Ps thanks for this thread it’s amazing. I’ve been following for few years but am trying (unsuccessfully) to cut down this year.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 02/09/2018 10:10

Poo gifts - probably can't beat a fake plastic poo 😂

There's also a brilliantly madcap book called 'The Little Mole Who Knew It Was None of His Business'. A mole gets pooed on, asks all the animals on the farm if they did it, and they all explain what their poos are like and why it wasn't them... "Plippety Plop"

Sorry about ladies was trying to a link, I don't know what part of the page I am supposed to press to copy and paste.

imsorryiasked · 02/09/2018 10:32

Not poo related but similar humour - I can recommend this book!

My kids love that book imsrryiasked Smile

Not Christmasy particularly, but a bargain none the less:

My Visa Offers are giving 10% cashback on online purchases from Boots. Decided I'd get some No 7 and restock the Hedrin Once stores (I'm ready for you, back to school nits!!) to find:

  • Up to £5 off Hedrin
  • No 7 on 3 for 2
  • £5 off No 7 if over £25 with NO7SAVE5
  • Plus 21 points per pound if you spend over £60.

So I've just bought £110 worth of makeup and Hedrin for £49.68 once cashback/points are taken into consideration Grin(and a free blending sponge too!)

Noticed in wilkos pocket money toys yesterday a new addition of a mini poo slingshot if that helps it was £1

AdamBarlowsQuiff · 02/09/2018 11:06

@FilthyforFirth M&s def still had the gingerbread rum yesterday - unfortunately DH was with me so I am hoping it will be in my local one this week.
On the poo theme, Toys for a Pound has slime /putty in a little plastic toilet which apparently makes rude noises. You can't choose a colour. I got my huge box of toys last night on returning from a holiday. It was like Xmas for me!!

BoBro · 02/09/2018 11:35

When we had a literacy workshop in school many years ago, this book about poo was recommended to us all.

coldilox

Dinosaur That Pooped DD loves these books and they are full of poop and poop related humour. The dinosaur gets hungry, eats everything and then poops it all out.

itsonlysubterfuge · 02/09/2018 11:50

Have You Seen My Potty? is also another firm favorite. The animals have stolen Suzy Sue's potty poo pot. It's a nice rhyming book and not too long.

LikeSilver · 02/09/2018 13:22

My two poo obsessives love all the books mentioned above. My son is also particularly fond of the Minions fart blaster gun.

ILoveGroot · 02/09/2018 13:34

@TheOwlandMe we have the Mayka tape, we've used it on an Ikea Kallax unit and on my sons bed (painted white) it has not left any marks and comes off and on easily, although does lose its stickiness after a while. It was DS favourite gift last year.

woodwaj · 02/09/2018 14:09

The minions fart blaster is a good shout. We have one and it's a firm favourite with every kid that pops over! Smiths have brought out their own cheaper version I think.

@Coldilox, The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas is completely revolting and thus a perennial favourite in our house. It (and the equally 'special' ...Pooped a Planet) gets requested as a bedtime story every time we host a sleepover. Despite my DD and her friends all being proud chapter book readers now.

TheOwlandMe · 02/09/2018 15:43

@ILoveGroot thanks for the info. That sounds exactly the type of furniture he’s use it on (kallax and a white painted bed frame) so good to hear your experience.

Glad dinosaur that pooped Christmas is a favourite as I have that out away for my son. We are also big fans of the little mole book...it’s fab.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 02/09/2018 15:49

I needed some vintage style London badges as a finishing touch for gift bags last month and am now OBSESSED with this badge site and stuffing everyone's stockings with their wares: Retrobadge

Brilliant initial and age badge options, categories for every interest under the sun, awesome movie memorabilia and free shipping on orders over £5 and £1.25 for anything under.

Fair warning: it's a total rabbit hole for anyone with a soft spot for nostalgia...

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2018 16:07

Ah, my son LOVES The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas! I read it at least once a fortnight! Xmas Grin

I've bought the planet one too. Gutted I didn't see the 4 pack before then, though it's out of stock anyway.

ReindeerPoop · 02/09/2018 16:12

@coldilox fishing for floaters was really popular here last year. It's multiple plastic poos to fish out of the bath with fishing rods and nets.
My kids loved it (it was in their Christmas Eve box and really helped to get th in the bath despite all of the excitement!) it was £5 in B&M last year

Well worth having a hunt around the WH Smith Clearance sale. I got Chirstmas cards, tree lights and wrapping paper reduced plus I tried the fiver off a 20 pound spend that they have advertised on the homepage and it worked (although I had other bits in the basket but not stuff in the staionery offer) and it worked.

Free delivery to store.

For example they have this tissue paper and printed cellophane set for 1.49
