Anyone fancy a Christmas craft chat?

Is anyone working on any craft projects for christmas yet? I’m itching to get started but can’t get stuck in for another week or so, so still at the grand plans stage.
My mum and sister went for colour consultations last Christmas and have been culling their wardrobes since so I’m planning on making some shopping totes to tone in with their colour schemes/styles.
My ds’s are both heavily into minecraft so I might have a go at some soft furnishings for their bedroom.
When dn comes over we often bake and she’s out grown the toddler aprons so I thought I might make her an apron.
I want to make some lightly padded cushion covers to store extra bedding, for myself but I’m thinking that they might be useful for my older dn who has moved into a shoebox her first flat, so I’ll see what she thinks of them when I’m done with my own ones and maybe make her some for Christmas.
I found a doll house in a charity shop and have been collecting furniture for it, and planning to do it up. I’m not sure if it’s suitable for dn yet as she’s only 8 and the furniture is very, very delicate. I think I might just be indulging myself with that one!

Anyone else got any plans or projects underway?

I would like to join in too please.

I discovered Fair Isle Knitting last Summer and was not confident enough to make Christmas gifts last year.

This year I plan to knit personalised Fair Isle Stockings. Not started yet so no idea how long they take. I can make socks so will just size them up.

@Deux, I’m going to adopt ‘Better Finished than Perfect’ as my new crafting motto!

AgathaRaisinsCat · 11/08/2018 19:05

Fairisle, that sounds amazing. If you gave me two pointy sticks and a ball of wool I'd do myself a mischief.

I am very uncrafty but love all these ideas! Reindeer, elves and bunting are now on my list! Also hoping to make this for my niece!

Some lovely ideas on here! Bunting going on my list as well!

I'm loving the cross stitch ornaments, Redgreen.

That Santa washing line is fabolous, CrazyBaubles. I've gotten into crocheting this year and would love to try my hand at that. Did you have a pattern or is it your own creation?

CrazyBaubles · 12/08/2018 10:29

I made the pattern up after seeing the idea on Pinterest with a pattern in Chinese. I'm sure a pattern will be available somewhere. I basically made it up in red and added white sparkly thread as a trim but it really hid anything that didn't look perfect!

AnotherShirtRuined · 12/08/2018 11:19

Thanks, CrazyBaubles. It's such a fun idea, I'm sure the DCs would love it Smile

I've ventured into my craft room and found numerous projects that I have started for Christmas. I am halfway through making gingerbread bunting and a cottage wreath for the door. Best get the sewing needles out again - you never know may even be finished for Christmas!!Hmm

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/08/2018 19:54

I have some papier-mâché letters to decopatch. I bought J-O-Y with the intention of covering them with red paper and then turning the O into a wreath with paper poinsettia flowers, leaves and tiny baubles. They are for the side of a set of cupboards in the kitchen.

I've also got some coloured wool roving and some polystyrene balls to make needle felted baubles.

I did a wreath making course last year and I've bought a wreath form to make another fresh wreath this year.

Each year I think I'm crafted to the max for Christmas and then I find another project. So far I've made bunting, table runners, a fabric Advent calendar and a tree skirt. I made a knitted nativity set for a Woolly Hugs sale and I've earmarked a pattern for a crafter's companion for this year's sale.

I've just made tea and decided that we need a Christmas tea cosy so that's on the list now too.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 12/08/2018 22:08

Tomorrow I'm going to start on dd's stocking. I've drawn a design and am going to make it out of felt. Ds has one I made years ago for a Young Farmer's competition so it seems only fair that I make dd one too (she's 9 weeks old).

I also want to knit both of them something to sit at the top of their stockings. Was thinking of an elf each.

Is this the thread for DIY gifts or should I start a new one?
