What do I need from Lidl?

I live nowhere near a Lidl but tomorrow I will be passing one. I recall that lots of people say how good the food/drinks are.

So what should be on my list? I’m excited (sad) as I will be momentarily childfree and can actually browse!

Their mini marzipan stollen bites are lovely, £1.99. Unfortunately I have eaten all of ours Blush so will have to get some more,

Pearlsaringer · 27/11/2017 16:20

not Christmassy as such but their own brand chutneys and sauces are worth a look, eg Port and Cranberry sauce. Have a wander down the alcohol aisle as well, some keenly prices Baileys/Malibu type offerings which are pretty acceptable. I bought a bottle of their prosecco not expecting much and it was lovely. For non food items, look out for their wooden Brio style toys which are excellent value.

Thank you! Those stollen bites won’t stand a chance of making it to Christmas here either!

Their boxes of Delux caramel and sea salt fudge. It's amazing

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/11/2017 17:46

Vegetarian nut roast bake (its delish) tried one out a couple of months back, I need to stock up a few

And mini stollen, goes without saying Xmas Wink

treaclesoda · 27/11/2017 17:47

Their deluxe range frozen roast potatoes. The only frozen roast potatoes I have ever tasted that actually tasted like the ones you might make yourself.

EveryoneTalkAboutPopMusic · 27/11/2017 17:47

Definitely not the Christmas spiced biscuits. You’d hate them. You need to leave all of those babies for me 🙂

parrotonmyshoulder · 27/11/2017 17:48

Little salted caramel truffles in a pale blue cylindrical tub.
YY to the Baileys equivalent. We’ve been getting that or the Aldi one for years.
Gingerbread houses
Definitely the stollen bites.

MongerTruffle · 27/11/2017 17:49

Stollen
Lebkuchen
Ritter Sport chocolate

The Pandoro huge cakes by Favoritina are amazing, and I usually don't love store bought cakes. I do't really like the Panetonne but the Pandoro are fantastic!

Chimchar · 27/11/2017 17:52

I've eaten all our mini stollen bites too. God. They're moreish!

WasDoingFine · 27/11/2017 17:53

Strawberries covered in chocolate

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 27/11/2017 17:53

The giant Pandoro! It's lovely and very moorish.

Leatherboundanddown · 27/11/2017 17:54

Freeze dried cherries covered in dark chocolate. You can only buy them at Christmas - AMAZING.

Hortus gin.

Bitterol their copy of Aperol. Yum yum yum.

The wines are also really good.

somanyusernames · 27/11/2017 17:54

If they’ve got the smoked trout in, that’s nice and good value

laurzj82 · 27/11/2017 17:55

Agree the roasties are lovely. Am going to have to try the stollen now!

WasDoingFine · 27/11/2017 17:56

I like the Christmas spiced fudge and the panetonne is lovely although our local Lidl no longer seem to have the panetonne. I bought one in early November which we've already eaten (it makes the most amazing bread and butter pydding) but sadly they now only seem to have the piddly 100g ones in.

EveryoneTalkAboutPopMusic · 27/11/2017 19:10

I may have bought sone mince pies to put up for Christmas and they may have already been eaten but I’m not admitting anything...

zippyswife · 27/11/2017 19:34
