agnesbrownscat and fucksake thanks for the robot advice. Think a lego one might tick the box and be played with most long term.

bunbunny · 10/11/2017 23:39

mrsdiddly ds2 got a Tobar robot in his stocking when he was about 3 or 4 - he's now 9 and it is still one of his cast of toys that go on adventures and do things.

It's not big or expensive, just painted wood, with elastic band joints but anybody who sees it tends to pick it up and fiddle with it, regardless of their age Grin - if you want a little extra robot for a stocking or as a teaser or friend for the main one. wooden robot

And looking it up, just spotted they had the old fashioned push up robots that reminded me of my childhood that were very sweet...

Also I was in Smyths earlier this week and they had buy one robot get one free on certain robots - that were in approx £8-12 price range. They look like some of the expensive fancy ones but you can just move their arms and legs/wheels/etc and a few flashing lights or noises, rather than actually being able to do anything.

Looking for skateboard advice.
My sons five two weeks after Xmas. He's quite tall for his age. He has said he wants a skateboard. Not one of the little tiny toddler ones. He did have a minions one he outgrew. I reckon a full size one will be too big. Can anyone recommend one their son of a similar age has enjoyed maybe? Thanks.

Rockhopper81 · 11/11/2017 00:18

After deliberating over what to get my Nan for Christmas - she's pretty much the last person I have left to buy for - I think I've decided on some sort of hamper. Not necessarily any theme as such, just a collection of things presented in a nice way. Money needs to be spent carefully now, so any ideas of what to put in it?

So far I've got:

Chocolate of some description
Hand cream
Gloves

Any other ideas? She wouldn't appreciate fancy tea or coffee or anything, but I'm stumped already (I know, it's terrible). I'd really like to have my shopping done by the end of November...

eyebrowsonfleek · 11/11/2017 00:37

Penny Skateboards were all the rage with primary school children about 4/5 years ago and don’t look too big or heavy for that age group.

OnlyGlowingSlightly · 11/11/2017 01:01

fucksake - I've been told (by a skateboarder with a child) that bigger skateboards are actually easier for kids to use than small ones. So you might do better to get a good adult one rather than try to find one specifically for kids. If you're anywhere near a proper skate shop, they should be able to advise.

Just wondering if anyone had a spare M&S discount code? I’d be really grateful- I’ve checked sparks but only recently signed up and sadly afternoon cream tea for £6 isn’t doing it for me!! Wink

PerfumeIsAMessage · 11/11/2017 05:41

Casablanca78 · 11/11/2017 06:13

As usual, Toys R Us have early morning stock of fingerlings available to order online. Black monkey still left but be quick, they seem to release a small amount in the early hours of each morning but they go fast!

Old fashioned sweets?

margaritasbythesea · 11/11/2017 08:11

Lands End have up to 50% off coats and boots this weekend. There was a referral code ages ago for 20pounds off. Could be a good deal.

Can anyone help with emergency Shopkins? I ordered some of the ebay fakes which have just arrived and they are not nice at all really. I wasplanning to use them for DD´s advent calendar. Does anyone knoe where I can get good ones fast and cheap? I am not in the UK btw. I think I might be on to a loser here!

cookiefiend · 11/11/2017 08:11

@Rockhopper81 in tha last couple of years there have been photomug offers for around £3 delivered around Black Friday. Are your children young enough to get her a photo mug with? IME they look like they cost more and older people love them.

Also Lidl do lovely Christmas treats- some odds and ends to enjoy herself (mini stollen and pannatone etc)

DropDeadShred · 11/11/2017 08:27

I'm sorry if they sell the vans you want in Schuh, there are people on the referral thread with 15% discount for referrals. Does that bring them within budget?

FullMoonMania · 11/11/2017 08:41

Could anyone dig out a spare Lakeland code for me please?

imsorryiasked · 11/11/2017 08:42

Dropdead thanks! Been searching for codes and forgot all about the referral thread. Doh!
