I know they're super tacky, but I love themGrin.

I'm finally going to start one this year, does anyone fancy showing any photos of theirs from previous years to give me inspiration? Grin

I’ve not put mine up the last few years (at risk of toddlers destruction) but I love them and buy a building every year based on things I love - a pancake house, a library, we’ve got some lovely houses etc.

I’ve just seen lemax has released a popcorn factory for this year but it is SO expensive. Might have to keep an eye out in the sales!

This thread makes me feel all Christmassy!

BettysCandle · 07/11/2017 15:20

Oh I love them! I desperately want to start the lego winter village, but we have zero space. Boo.

CiderwithBuda · 07/11/2017 15:24

I got some of the Lego Winter Village a couple of years ago for Xmas from DH. Might have a look at this years offering to add to it. Although I don't have much space left.

DearMrDilkington · 07/11/2017 16:49

I love that face, what a bargain too!

I’ve got most of mine in woodies and home store and more.
Irish shops.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/11/2017 17:46

Mine all came from a posh garden centre near us- but lemax is available online and in loads of shops.

Dh is very very particular. It must be lemax, the accessories must be scaled correctly, the snow must be white and not iridescent.

I married him ' in sickness and in health' but I didn't realise this would be his sickness.

Baileystruffle · 07/11/2017 20:01

Cider this years offerings are a lovely Christmas train with rails (although not battery operated) and a train station. I am getting the train. If you buy now from lego shop you get a free 24 in 1 christmas build set over £60 (train is £75)

Laughing cause Lemax has got very 2017...

Festive yoga studio

(I’m actually a bit tempted by this as I took up yoga this year so it’ll always be something I laugh at to have in my little village!)

TKRedLemonade · 07/11/2017 21:55

I have a fair few of the Lego winter village. I get to indulge my Lego live once a year and then tidy it away as no space

Also looking at that I need to find a new location as have three big new pieces which are not going to fit.....can I bribe a 4 yr old not to touch it???

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/11/2017 22:42

I can’t believe I didn’t know this was a thing. We have some winter Lego, but not much ch and the retired sets are so overpriced on eBay. But this lemax village looks great. I’m now trying to decide what to buy to start my collection...

And to think, last night I was buying no more new decorations...

singadream · 07/11/2017 22:48

I really want one!

Tour · 07/11/2017 22:49

Costco had one in the other day

singadream · 08/11/2017 18:28

Tiger has one

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 08/11/2017 21:13

@thenewaveragebear1983 - is that the Christmas tower you have? I’m thinking of starting my collection with that! Does it play music/sound and if so can you have it lit without sound?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/11/2017 21:36

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo
Yes, it has a Santa in a sleigh and I think a train that goes round, it plays music and has a 'ho Ho Ho, merry Christmas' thing as well. It's actually my least favourite of all the pieces because it plugs in rather than takes batteries which means the light is also very bright white/blue rather than warm gold. It also whirrs a bit as the things go round, and while you can turn the sound off you can't stop the movement. The dc love it though. We only bought it last year and it was our first light/sound one.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 08/11/2017 21:54

Thanks @thenewaveragebear1983. Having a slight wobble on it now! But that’s all useful to know. I think DS would love it though!

fleshmarketclose · 08/11/2017 22:56

I had no idea this was a thing but, then again, I'm a real life grinch. The photos look lovely but I'm hiding them because they are something dd would nag me mercilessly for.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/11/2017 07:39

To be honest what I would get one of the cheaper, larger ones that are available. There are some I've seen which have a Santa train, and a little cluster of houses all on one piece IYSWIM. The lemax is very expensive and probably no better quality, and each piece looks pretty sad on its own- it needs a whole village. Our dc love the village, as does Dh, but it does take up a lot of space. This year we are actually having to move furniture round to accommodate it!

So, given that we won't be having a tree this year, I have decided to go down the Christmas Village scene look. Have bought a roll of snow, and ordered some Lemax buildings and figures from Dawsons yesterday (not many, I hope to add to it each year).
But it strikes me that when it is laid out, it will look a little "flat" as it will all be on one level. Does anyone who is a veteran of these things know if this matters, or if there is an easy way I can give it some height?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/11/2017 19:17

You can buy mountain pieces, like grey moulders plastic which the houses sit on. We bought one this year, they do them in different sizes. I suppose you could fashion something mountain like from a box and some snow fleece though?

Leeds2 · 17/11/2017 19:29

I may have to do that this year, bear!

Do you have a link to the grey moulders plastic things, or could you tell me where you got them from? I can't really imagine what you mean, but are they meant to look like mountains?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/11/2017 20:18

www.google.co.uk/search?q=lemax+mountain+display+platform&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari#imgrc=N_3tGYqWOUpoOM:

This is the sort of thing- they do single /double /triple etc. We bought a 4 one, it was £35!!!!! Ridiculous! They don't save space exactly, as the 4 houses actually does take up more space than just flat, but they look nice.

You can get scenery for the back drop as well. And a screen with fireworks going off in lights. It's like real life but better.......

Leeds2 · 17/11/2017 20:32

Thanks. I think! Will have a look.
I think I may be aiming a bit high, if you'll pardon the pun, for a newbie scene person!
